It's rare to watch a New York Knicks, New York Mets, Los Angeles Lakers or Los Angeles Kings game and fail to see a cameo from a celebrity seated court side or in box seating during a game break. There are celebrities that like to sit court side for the attention of it, like Kim Kardashian and Kanye West or Drake who loves attention from the players while he's there. There are more extreme examples of this.

Like when Lady Gaga was banned from Shea Stadium and then showed up dressed in underwear, fishnets to a New York Yankees game. Gaga proceeded to give the finger to New York Mets fans.

But for every attention seeker with money, there is a true celebrity sports lover.

The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton hit the turf to train with England's Olympic field hockey team when the chance presented itself during the London Olympics in 2012. Keira Knightley gets up at 6 a.m. to catch West Ham football live when she's in Los Angeles.

The reason Kate Upton seems to strictly date athletes is probably because she's a huge sports fans... Yeah, that's probably why.

Some celebrities love sports so much, they treat attending games like a part-time job. Ashley Judd and Jerry Seinfeld are known to go to great lengths, like taking multiple flights, to make sure they don't miss important sporting events. Spike Lee says he'll be buried in the New York Knicks colours.

The bottom line is, celebs love there sports too. Here are the top 20 biggest celebrity sports fans.

20 20. Mark Wahlberg and Company

The Wahlberg family, particularly Mark, are known as huge sports buffs.

The family, born and raised in Boston, are partial to New England's teams. They love the Patriots. Mark Wahlberg and Tom Brady are friends, even using the same architecture for their Los Angeles based homes (Brady later sold his to Dr. Dre).

Mark says that his wife has banned him from watching the Super Bowl at home, based on his reaction to the New England Patriots’ losing to the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLVI.

Wahlberg says he kicked his friends out of his house after the loss and then yelled at his wife when she told him to calm down.

“She was so upset I wasn’t able to make it up to her until Valentine’s Day,” Wahlberg said.  “She said, ‘You know, you’re never watching the game again [at home],’ but now she just hopes that the Patriots make it back to the Super Bowl so she can go on, like, a week vacation.”

The family even had the Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowki appear on their reality show, exchanging cooking tips for fantasy football insight.

19 19. Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba is a former owner of Golden State Warriors seasons tickets. Alba would travel up to the Bay area from Los Angeles to watch the Warriors in action. Nowadays, Alba is more likely to be seen at a Los Angeles Clippers or Los Angeles Lakers game with husband Cash Warren.

Alba has also been spotted in a Oakland Raiders hat and even threw out the first pitch at the Los Angeles Dodgers game.

Alba looked like a professional golfer when she competed in the Mission Hills World Celebrity Pro-Am in China alongside pro golfer John Daly. She's an avid golfer as well as a fan of the sport. Alba told Golf Digest that she has a 22 handicap and can drive the ball 200 yards.

18 18. Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian probably can't name the New England Patriots quarterback but she definitely would date him. She might not know how many championships the Los Angeles Lakers have won but she thought the NBA All-Star Game was her own personal dating service before she married rapper Kanye West.

The point I'm making here is that Kardashian loves her athletes.

Kardashian has been linked to the Detroit Lions Running Back Reggie Bush, the Dallas Cowboys Wide Receiver Miles Austin and married Kris Humphries.

She even reportedly hooked up with Cristiano Ronaldo in a club.

17 17. Kate Upton

Kate Upton might not be so much a sports fan as she is a fan of the athletes that play them. Kim Kardashian is her only true rival when it comes to chain professional athlete dating. She is a known Rangers fan, though she hasn't dated any of their players yet.

Justin Verlander's current girlfriend often pops up at the games of her boyfriends or men she's recruiting. Rob Gronkowski and his brother have hit on Upton via Twitter as has Tyler Bozak and several other NHL players. In turn, Upton has reportedly hit up Victor Cruz, who turned her down because he has a child with his long-time partner.

Upton's formers include Blake Griffin from the Los Angeles Clippers and Mark Sanchez.

Upton has been accused of being a curse by the New York Post. Good thing Verlander's Detroit Tigers can't win even without a curse.

16 16. Lil' Wayne

Like all classic bandwagon jumpers, Lil Wayne's favourite team is any team that's winning.

He often tweets his love for the Green Bay Packers and wears a cheesehead for the Green and Yellow, like all good Packers fans.

Wayne's most famous fan moment came when he was booted (though he says he left) from a Miami Heat game for heckling other fans and for not actually having a ticket to the game. He followed up this display by exposing Chris Bosh's wife groupie past. He claimed that he and Bosh's wife Adrienne had well, Boshed.

15 15. Kevin Hart

Kevin Hart is a personal friend of Chris Paul. He has participated in celebrity All-Star Games, taking it much more seriously than it needed to be. After being awarded the celebrity game MVP, Hart behaved like he had just won the NBA championship.

Hart headlined the NBA opening night this season and confronted trouble college quarterback Jameis Winston, telling him to clean up his act.

Hart shared in his comedy special that he can no longer hang out with his professional athlete friends because they are able to spend much more money at clubs and events than he can. According to Hart, Dwayne Wade once tried to talk him into buying a boat.

14 14. Paulina Gretzky

While Paulina Gretzky isn't a “real celebrity,” she is a Instagram one.

The daughter of hockey great Wayne Gretzky dated Erin Andrews current boyfriend, Jarret Stoll of the Los Angeles Kings. Before, during ,and after her relationship with Stoll, Gretzky attended Kings games with her family, often donning a Kings jacket. She posted numerous Instagram shots of herself hanging out with the Stanley Cup and with members of the hockey team's roster.

In maybe the creepiest daddy issues move of all time, Gretzky tattooed her father's jersey number, "99," below the waist.

Gretzky flew out to Miami for Miami Heat playoff games with her fiancee/now baby daddy Dustin Johnston, before she became pregnant. She was a regular at various golf tournaments that Johnston played in and Gretzky herself has appeared on the cover of Golf Digest.

13 13. Alyssa Milano

Alyssa Milano has season tickets to the Los Angeles Dodgers, designed a line of apparel for female sports fans, and wrote a book about how much she loves the Dodgers, titling it: Safe at Home: Confessions of a Baseball Fanatic.

Milano loves the Dodgers as well as the Los Angeles Kings, New York Giants and Inter Milan.

Milano started her fashion sports clothing empire after she discovered the lack of choice in clothing for female sports fans. Milano says "I went into the store to get something warm to wear. And I was offended.” The only color available in women’s clothing was pink. “Their answer for female sports apparel back then was ‘pink it and shrink it.’ It was either that or buy something from the kids’ section. Which I did. I got a kid’s hoodie.”

In an interview with the Montreal Canadiens, Milano revealed she's been a hockey fan since childhood and that her favourite player is Sidney Crosby.

12  12. Rihanna

Rihanna loves the Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Clippers and the Miami Heat. She's a regular at games. On top of that, Rihanna has dated Matt Kemp of the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Knicks guard J.R. Smith.

Rihanna even knows her basketball shoes. She owns an original pair of Air Jordans.

11 11. Adam Sandler

Adam Sandler is a fan of all teams New York but he occasionally will halt his alliance and sit court side at Los Angeles Lakers games with his friend, Jack Nicholson.

Sandler had New York Jets coach Rex Ryan cameo in his film, "That's My Boy.” Ryan plays an attorney who represents Sandler's character and who is a crazed fan of the Patriots, particularly of coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady, both who are referenced in Ryan's scenes.

Sandler says he couldn't believe it when Ryan accepted the gig. He thought that it was extremely cool of him and was delighted to have him play the part in the film. Sandler shows his love of sports in his films other ways as well. His characters commonly wear licensed professional sports team apparel, based on the locale of the film.

Sandler allegedly has a couple of people on the set of “Grown Ups 2” carry around a big-screen TV and a satellite dish so that he can get his sports coverage no matter where he is. Reportedly, the crew even had to set up the TV on a boat once.

10 10. Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber has been a regular at NBA games since childhood, when he used to sit there and gaze at Lakers girls. He was a kid, so it was cute, not creepy.

Bieber is known to fly into Miami for a Miami Heat playoff game and attend games in Toronto, Chicago and Los Angeles.

Like Drake and Lil Wayne, Justin Bieber is a supporter of all sports franchises, especially the ones that let him into the locker rooms to meet players. In Chicago, Bieber made the mistake of stepping on the Chicago Blackhawks logo on the floor of the dressing room to take a picture of the Stanley Cup. Simply by being Canadian, Bieber should have known that it is basically against the law for anybody, players and coaches included, to step on the logo. Surprisingly, other teams have allowed him access to their locker room since then.

Bieber's childhood room at his grandparents house is completely decked out in Toronto Maple Leafs, from wallpaper to bedding. He's known to practice with the Leafs and the Toronto Raptors when in Toronto and attend their games with his father.

9 9. Maria Menounos

Maria Menounos is die-hard Boston and er love for the Boston Celtics has even been described as violent. She's basically the definition of a crazy sports fan. She's the type of person who is asked to leave Little League Games.

During game six of the Eastern Conference Finals she sent a support video to the Celtics rooting them on. Menounos famously got tossed from her Staples Center seat by Jack Nicholson during Game 6 of the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Celtics 2010 NBA Finals.

Menounos and Dane Cook were cheering too loudly for Nicholson's liking and security requested that they move.

She and Cook ended up in the Chairman's Lounge, where they ran into Nicholson exiting the bathroom. Menounos remembers that, "He's like, 'Heh, heh, heh, heh.' And I thought really quickly and I'm like, 'Oh my God, what if he...' And he's like, 'I see they moved your seat.' He got me kicked out! I heard later he called [late Lakers owner] Jerry Buss and had me removed!"

Menounos once lost a Super Bowl bet and had to wear a New York Giants bikini after her New England Patriots lost the Super Bowl.

8 8. Ashley Judd

Ashley Judd loves her University of Kentucky basketball, as she graduated from Kentucky and continues to attend games regularly.

Judd was so upset to miss all of her team's games while she was performing on broadway, that when she injured her foot during her show, her first thought after “OUCH!’ was, “Lord, I can probably catch the rest of the games.”

After Judd had surgery on her foot, she begged her doctor for permission to take a short flight to South Carolina to watch the Wildcats play. Judd even shared an essay she wrote about UK basketball on her personal website. She says that Kentucky basketball helps keep three generations of her family actively in touch.

7 7. Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck loves his Boston sports teams.

Affleck even paid tribute to the Boston Red Sox by narrating a documentary about the “Curse of the Bambino” rooting from the trade of Babe Ruth to New York Yankees.

Affleck refused to wear a Yankees hat in his movie “Gone Girl.” According to a report, during a scene set at a New York airport, Mr. Affleck’s character tries to avoid being recognized by donning a baseball cap. Director David Fincher wanted it to be a Yankees cap because he believed that worked best for the movie.

To which Affleck responded with “‘David, I love you, I would do anything for you,’” Mr. Affleck recalled. “‘But I will not wear a Yankees hat. I just can’t. I can’t wear it because it’s going to become a thing, David. I will never hear the end of it. I can’t do it.’ And I couldn’t put it on my head.”

And he didn't. They settled on a New York Mets hat.

6 6. Billy Crystal

Billy Crystal was a Los Angeles Clippers season ticket holder before the Clippers had season ticket holders. Crystal has been front and center for some of the worst basketball ever played and he has never tested another team. Crystal's grandson is named "Griffin," which may or may not be after the Clippers power forward.

While hosting the Oscars, Crystal sat on Jack Nicholson's lap and asked the person sitting next to him to take a picture because of the Lakers-Clippers rivalry.

5 5. Drake

Drake has taken the art of being a fan girl to the next level.

When Johnny Manziel and Andrew Wiggins were both drafted to Cleveland sports teams, Drake mentioned that he might consider buying an apartment in the city. Johnny Manziel has "OVO," the name of Drake's label, tattooed on his wrist while Drake wrote the song “Draft Day” about Manziel.

Drake is a Toronto Raptors season ticket holder, in addition to being their Global Ambassador. Occasionally, Drake will throw some illegal recruiting tactics to make sure his Raptors have the best possible team.

Although Drake reps the Raptors, he roots for other teams as well. A lot of other teams. Drake often stands next to NBA players, looking like the proudest mother/girlfriend ever. So often in fact, it has become an online joke.

Drake didn't attend university so he doesn't have a college team affiliation. According to him, he's "ALWAYS" been a Kentucky Wildcats fan. Drake's fandom paid off, as the Wildcats gave him a ring the last time they won.

Drake celebrated the Miami Heat's championship with them but as far as we know, he didn't get a ring from them.

4 4. Jay-Z

Jay-Z is the founder of Roc Nation and a former minority owner of the Brooklyn Nets. It was he was who partly responsible for moving the team to Brooklyn from New Jersey.

Jay had to sell his Nets shares in order to become a sports agent. He says that he'll keep his tickets and "always be a Brooklyn Net." Jay says, "Being a member of the Nets organization surpassed some of my greatest ambitions. It was never about an investment; it was about the NETS and Brooklyn. My job as an owner is over but as a fan it has just begun. I’m a Brooklyn Net forever."

3 3. Jerry Seinfeld

Jerry Seinfeld's team of choice is the New York Mets. He's been deemed a superfan, admitting that he thinks about baseball 'all day.'

Seinfeld has been attending games since childhood and relates baseball to his comedy career. He told ESPN, "The life of a stand-up comic is very similar to that of a baseball player. You perform on this 85 to 93 percent level on a daily basis. You can't give 100 because you've gotta do it every day. When you're that road comic and doing it twice a night or three times a night, the obvious analogy to the season of a baseball player ... Bob Costas [during a recent interview] said Michael Jordan never stepped on the court and went 0-for-20, that Tom Brady never stepped on the field and didn't complete a pass. But that happens to guys like [Clayton] Kershaw and [Mike] Trout all the time ... That brutality, as a comedian, I can relate to that, because stand-up comedy is brutal that way."

Seinfeld would often make referees to New York based sports franchises in his show Seinfeld.

The night before Game 6 of the 1986 World Series, Seinfeld performed in Montana. He took four planes to make it to the game, arriving at LaGuardia at 6 p.m. and racing over to Shea Stadium, to sit in the upper deck.

Now that he is retired, he says his dream would be to watch a baseball game every day.

2 2. Jack Nicholson

Jack Nicholson is almost a Staples Center monument, much to every referee that has ever made a questionable call's dismay. For over 30 years, Nicholson has been a court side fixture. Now that the Los Angeles Clippers are a top-tier team, the Lakers' most famous fan sometimes shows up to watch the Lakers' roommates play.

He's even known to show up in opposing arenas when the Los Angeles Lakers are in the finals. Not only does Nicholson love and know the Lakers, he's respected as a fan by players and coaches. "He's been a good friend of mine ... for years," Pat Riley said, "and it's borne out of basketball more than anything else. He's simply a fanatic and has been ever since I started my career with the Lakers in 1970. He's a real fan. He's not one of these actors that all of a sudden get front row seats and then they're gone. He's for real. He cares."

Directors reportedly need to work Nicholson's shooting schedule around Lakers home games. One report from the set of his film "The Departed" said that Nicholson forbid all Boston Celtics gear from the set of the Boston-based movie.

1 1. Spike Lee

Like Jack Nicholson, Spike Lee is rarely absent from his court side seat. Lee likes to play assistant to referees, if the chance presents itself. Lee even produced a documentary on the New York Knicks' new offense. This led to Phil Jackson to criticize Lee, saying that he doesn't know anything about basketball.

Lee calls his fandom like a “religious experience.” During an interview with the New York Times, Lee started yelling and cursing at four young Chicago Cubs fans for wearing the Cubs gear in New York. He takes his Knicks alliance seriously.

Lee remembers moments, dating back from his childhood to more current moments like when Jeremy Lin “dropped 38 points on Kobe Bryant’s head.” Lee once offered someone $40,000 in exchange for his seats behind the Indiana Pacers’ bench. When the owner of the ticket wouldn't sell, Lee settled from a seat behind the Knicks bench.

Lee says “Orange and blue. My son is going to be orange and blue, and his son after him. And they are going to bury me in these colors.”
