2016 was a memorable year for the WWE, as it saw the reintroduction of the Brand Extension and the return of the WWE Draft after quite a few years, also resulting in new championships being introduced to up the ante of the respective brands. While things look to be on the up for the WWE heading into 2017 as they have quite the lip-smacking rosters right now with the possibility of more world-class talents joining in the near future, as a lot of memorable things will take place in this year as well.

While certain things look to be set in stone to take place later this year when it comes to the push a superstar receives or when they win a championship, there are some other things which will not happen in the WWE in 2017 which actually should. These are the things which the company are too hesitant to go forward with because of their fear of how it can affect the product's profitability and while these may not be "best for business", it can definitely help them serve better things to the fans.

These things are the ones which can definitely get the fans hooked to the product, as the push for certain rising superstars, engaging dream feuds and tweaks to certain superstars can help WWE build a better product which will reap more fans into it. Let's take a look at 15 things which won't happen in WWE in 2017 that should.

15 15. Roman Reigns Heel Turn

via wwe.com

Roman Reigns has been the most talked about superstar in the WWE for quite some-time now, as his "Superman" face gimmick is getting more and more hated by the WWE fans as he grows stronger in the WWE. Reigns is always in the top feuds and always gets the shot at the main event, which is continuously irking fans more and more as he gets booed out of the building almost in every single event. All this hate has already ruined his face gimmick, as the only thing which can save him from eternal doom is a heel turn which can change the perspective of the fans as well. Reigns has shown his traits of being a superb heel in the past, as turning him heel could be a refreshing chapter in his career as well as getting the fans in his corner for once. But the WWE is to intent on forcing him down our throats as this "Superman" character and as "The Guy" as he is still on course to be the next face of the WWE and will never turn heel because of that, which is a shame considering his potential in a heel form and he will only get more and more hate if WWE continue pushing him the way they are right now.

14 14. The Cruiserweight Division Being Shifted To Smackdown

via wwe.com

So one of the more exciting announcements prior to the Brand Extension was of the return of the highly entertaining Cruiserweight Division to the WWE, as they were drafted to the Raw Brand. But it didn't really go as planned, as the Cruiserweight matches barely get much love from the crowd and even another show called 205 Live! hasn't helped them get over properly with a big percentage of the WWE fans. The Cruiserweight Division matches are mostly used as fillers for the Raw Shows, as their booking isn't on par either and the division should be moved to its original home of Smackdown! This was contested in Survivor Series last year and doesn't look be in contention after that failure, but the Cruiserweights suit perfectly to the land of opportunities and with 205 Live! being immediately after Smackdown shows, it only makes sense for it being recognized with the Blue Brand, as a shift from Raw to Smackdown and do real wonders for that failing division.

13 13. Tye Dillinger Winning A Championship On The Main Roster

via YouTube.com

Tye Dillinger just recently made his main roster debut with a "Perfect 10!" appearance at the Royal Rumble, but one can be sure that's not the last we've seen of him. Dillinger will definitely be moved to the main roster now(probably to Smackdown Live!), as the most over guy in NXT finally has his chance at glory in the big stages of the WWE after trying to get there for almost a decade. Dillinger was kept down at NXT where he was basically a jobber to the stars, but needs to be treated better in the main roster as his "perfect 10" gimmick can lead to something amazing in the future and needs to be booked strong this year. He needs to get a belt under his wing to truly prosper into a relevant, over superstar and maybe he can get the Intercontinental Championship later down the year and solidify himself as a proper mid-carder which can be a stepping stone to something "perfect" down the line.

12 12. Chyna Going Into The Hall Of Fame

via WWE.com

The tragic death of Chyna last year finally kicked some senses into the WWE, who finally acknowledged her existence by putting in some tribute videos of her after she had plead them to bury the hatchet for years. Chyna's death also led many fans to plead to the WWE to induct her into the Hall of Fame posthumously as WWE ignored those remarks as usual and as WrestleMania looms upon us, it doesn't seem like the ninth wonder of the world is going into the Hall of Fame. It's sad upon how WWE have continuously ignored Chyna because of some problems with Triple H in the past and she should be awarded with the honor of the Hall of Fame for how big a part she played in improving the state of Women's wrestling into the company and inspired many to try their hands as well, as putting her into the Hall Of Fame would show that there's still some humanity left in the WWE but it sadly doesn't seem to be happening this year at least.

11 11. Shinsuke Nakamura Headlining A Main Roster PPV

via wrestlingphoto.tumblr.com

The majestic Shinsuke Nakamura has managed to mesmerize the NXT crowd ever since making a much anticipated debut last year, as the charismatic "King of Strong Style" has been winning over fans with each passing month on NXT. While it looks like he'll get promoted to the main roster later this year, his poor mic skills and unique personality might or might not be a hit on the main roster, mostly making for him having to scratch and claw his way to the top of the ladder. Nakamura will mostly start as an upper-mid carder, but with the level of competition in the main event scene and some ever-bearing superstars in it, it'll be difficult for the charismatic Nakamura to get to headline many matches. Though he's more talented than most of the main roster guys and deserves to headline a main roster pay-per-view match more than a bunch of them, Vince will probably take it slow with him and push him as a real star later on, which could be real cruel on the Japanese superstar who's amazing personality is enough to push him as a main eventer.

10 10. Sami Zayn Pulling Off The Ultimate Underdog Story

via wrestlingphoto.tumblr.com

Sami Zayn is called as "The Underdog from the Underground" for a reason, as the happy-go-lucky superstar has been one of the company's hardest workers ever since stepping foot into the WWE and can easily make for a feel good story if booked properly. Now that his "bitter enemy" Kevin Owens retained his title at the Royal Rumble, Zayn could easily go against all odds and pull of an amazing underdog story by thwarting both Owens and his best friend Chris Jericho at WrestleMania to take the Universal Title from Owens, but going by how WWE think, that's probably not happening anytime soon. Zayn could easily be pushed as a big underdog anytime this year, but WWE's weird lack of trust on him will probably stop them from pushing him to the main event and keep many a fan frustrated at how he gets buried before he can rise up.

9 9. A Cruiserweight Winning A Major Singles Title

via wrestlingphoto.tumblr.com

While The Cruiserweight Division has been a good thing for the "small" wrestlers to have signed with the WWE, there are certain Cruiserweights who definitely have it in them to compete above their weight-class. The likes of Neville or Austin Aries (yet to debut as a Cruiserweight) are definitely a level above the others in the Division and definitely deserve to get a push to the upper level and compete with the big dogs in the company. Neville should be pushed into the main roster with his heel character and pushed to become one of the top heels in the company, as he could even win a major singles title after dropping the Cruiserweight Division. Even Aries can be pushed in the main show and given the mid-card title and then be ascended to the top, as some of these Cruiserweights deserve better than being stuck in their small division and should be allowed to fly into the bigger leagues and gun for the bigger titles.

8 8. Chris Jericho Winning The Universal Title

via wrestlingphoto.tumblr.com

Chris Jericho has been one of the best things about the WWE ever since the WWE Draft, as his latest antics such as the "List of Jericho" and the "Gift of Jericho" turned him into one of the most over guys in the WWE in 2016 and because of how much he did to make Raw entertaining last year, he should be repaid this year. Jericho deserves one last run as a top champion, as he should win the Universal Title later this year and be given a hefty run which help Raw get one over Smackdown in the ratings battle. But going by how WWE under-value Jericho as a main-eventer nowadays, this has very low chances of happening as WWE could really do good for Raw by making Y2J champion again as we've already seen how good Raw can be if It's Jericho whose ruling the kingdom.

7 7. NXT Going Live

via wrestlingphoto.tumblr.com

WWE NXT has been produced some of the most exciting wrestling in the past few years, as Triple H's brainchild has escalated to a massive popularity all around the world and is definitely the world's best "developmental" system right now. While the live NXT Pay-Per-Views always deliver the best product to the fans, their taping system where much of the results are leaked beforehand can be frustrating for a wrestling fan, as NXT should definitely go live and become a weekly show like Smackdown and Raw. But going by the fact at how Vince wants to keep it "low-key" (despite it being arguably as popular as his own product) and an understudy of the main roster, that will not happen any sooner as the fans have to watch the stupid taped matches every week, as NXT going Live will definitely be "best for business" for Triple H and escalate his product's popularity even more.

6 6. Braun Strowman Goes Unpinned For The Rest Of The Year

via wrestlingphoto.tumblr.com

The "Giants" in the WWE are always booked as some of the most intimidating men in the company, but Braun Strowman seems to be the next generation of "Giants" in the company and should be treated and booked as such. The Monster Among Men has been super impressive ever since the Brand Extension, as he has left everyone reeling and hasn't been pinned or submitted by anyone since and this should remain for the rest of 2017 atleast. Strowman needs to be booked strongly throughout the year if he's to be the successor to The Big Show and gain the Giant's reputation, as his amazing display in the ring and outside it has really helped his case. But going by how they're building a potential feud with Roman Reigns, one can wonder how many days Strowman's undefeated streak continues as they'll probably have Reigns overcome the odds to pin him, which can threaten to destroy all of his momentum and reduce Strowman to just another Giant who perishes in the long run, as Strowman should be kept strong throughout this year for him to gain the reputation which has made The Big Show so popular all these years.

5 5. The Hardys Return

via wrestling-jat.wikia.com

Broken Matt Hardy and his "Brother Nero" in Jeff Hardy were the people who kept TNA from sinking in 2016, as their bizarre, entertaining feud last year was the talk of town when The Final Deletion got everyone's attention because of how weird, hilarious and entertaining it was. Since then, Their Broken Brilliance has been enticing fans all around the globe as they are some of the most demanded guys in the wrestling circuit right now, but somehow WWE are not only of those who want them. The Broken Hardy's should return to the WWE this year, which would not only provide an edge to their product, but it could improve the shape of their tag team division as well as delivering some hilarious product with Matt Hardy's creativity. But going by Vince's dislike for them, that doesn't seem to be possibly anytime soon as WWE are really missing out on The Broken Brilliance of Mat and Jeff and denying fans of something spectacular by not resigning them.

4 4. The Final Kurt Angle Vs Brock Lesnar Match

via cagesideseats.com

When Kurt Angle was announced to be the first inductee into the 2017 WWE Hall Of Fame, many were delighted and worried at the same time at how he'll never able to wrestle in the WWE anymore. Though it's speculated that Angle will have at least one match before riding into the sunset, nothing is planned right now as everyone is left to ponder upon dream matches. Even though there's tons of possibility with the amount of talent in the WWE right now, but the perfect send-off to Angle would be a final match against "The Beast" Brock Lesnar, who is undoubtedly his greatest rival and also a very close friend. Angle can bring out the best in Lesnar and they have also proved how good they are in the ring, as WWE could please a lot of fans with this but probably won't let it happen. Lesnar is being booked too strongly to be allowed to put on a "technical" match with Angle, as this ultimate dream match will probably only remain a dream because of how protective WWE is off Lesnar as this could put a lot of butts into the seats if it happens.

3 3. The Miz Winning The WWE Championship

via YouTube.com

The Miz has been a revelation for Smackdown Live! ever since being drafted to the Blue brand in the WWE Draft, as the "A-Lister" has been a mainstay of the Intercontinental Championship and has been a big part of that title becoming prestigious again. While The Miz is doing an absolutely amazing job in that scene, his hard-work should be repaid by the WWE as The Miz should get another WWE Championship reign and has proved to be a solid top-level heel over the past few months as well with Maryse at his side. But going at how WWE value him as only an upper-mid carder these days, the scenario of him winning the big belt looks unlikely in the near future and he'll probably be kept in the Intercontinental Championship scene for the time being which is unfair considering how awesome he has been since the Brand Extension and completely deserves another reign with the top championship.

2 2. Finn Balor Retiring The Undertaker

via fightbooth.com

Now that WrestleMania season is upon us, it's that time of the year again where we wonder about who will be the opponent for The Undertaker at the grandest stage of them all, as the weary old Taker could be wrestling his final WrestleMania this year. Now that it's apparent that Taker has to bow out sooner rather than later, WWE should look to make someone else benefit from it, as Finn Balor could be the perfect guy for the Undertaker to pass the torch onto. Balor could return to face the Phenom at WrestleMania this year, defeating him in a crunch match which we discover is Taker's last, and with someone as popular retiring the Deadman, not many would be complaining either and it could give him the momentum to become the next face of the WWE as well. But going by how WWE work, they'll probably have someone like Roman Reigns doing it, as this dream scenario of the Rising Demon putting an end to The Demon of Death Valley and taking his torch is too good for the WWE to actually go through with it.

1 1. AJ Styles Headlining WrestleMania

via wrestlingphoto.tumblr.com

AJ Styles had quite the remarkable "rookie year" in the WWE last year, as his stunning debut in the Royal Rumble was followed up with appearances at the Grandest stage of them all(where he sadly lost) amongst other pay-per-views. A change in character helped him win a feud against John Cena and becoming "The Face That Runs The Place" as he also went onto win the WWE Championship later on and become "The Champ That Runs the Camp". Although he saw bitter defeat to Cena at Royal Rumble and his title gone, he still remains as one of WWE's top stars and needs to be rewarded for his phenomenal year for the company as he should be headlining WrestleMania and in the main event. Be it him winning the Title back from Cena at Elimination Chamber or somehow wiggling his way into the main event picture, he needs to be treated like the top star he is and fit into the top match of WrestleMania. But going by how they take him for granted, they're gonna keep him in a mid-card match as his incredible work for Smackdown Live! will probably result in a match against an unconvincing opponent when he obviously deserves so much more from the WWE.
