Although both women have faced off against many competitors throughout their careers, they are arguably each other's fiercest rivals. While the WWE Universe will surely see them face off again in the future, it's only fitting to highlight some things fans should know about their storied rivalry.

10 Opponent Sides In Survivor Series

The Empress of Tomorrow left NXT to go after the talent on the main roster. She dominated every woman who stood against her as WWE was heading towards Survivor Series 2017.

That night, Asuka left a trail of bodies, including SmackDown's Becky Lynch. Though Bayley eliminated Lynch, this would be the first time the fiery red-headed underdog of the blue brand found herself losing in a match against Asuka on PPV. The Empress not only became the sole survivor, but she made the first move in what would later become a game of catch-up.

9 NXT Battle In Japan

Asuka captured the NXT Women's Championship at NXT TakeOver: Dallas and began an undefeated streak unlike no other on the black and gold brand. She defeated the likes of Mickie James, Nikki Cross, Athena, and many more.

Some fans may not know that Asuka even had a championship match in Japan against Becky Lynch in 2016. Although footage of the match is nowhere to be found, fans of the two can only imagine the type of match they had back then.

8 Snapping The Man's Title Run

Lynch became the hottest act in WWE after slapping Charlotte Flair in the face at SummerSlam 2018. She would later capture the SmackDown Women's Championship the following month and transitioned into becoming The Man of the people.

As TLC 2018 drew near, The Man was in the midst of a heated battle against RAW's Ronda Rousey. During her triple threat TLC title defense against Flair and Asuka, Rousey came out and pushed both Lynch and Flair off a ladder. This allowed Asuka to capture the SmackDown Women's Championship and snap The Man's first major title run on the blue brand.

7 Royal Rumble Showdown: Part 1

Becky Lynch wouldn't let what happened at TLC deter her. After winning a number one contender's match on SmackDown, she went straight after Asuka to reclaim the SmackDown Women's Championship.

The two had an intense opening match at Royal Rumble 2019. In the end, Asuka would make The Man tap out in front of thousands attending Chase Field. After three straight encounters, The Empress had The Man's number.

6 Uneasy Alliance

Asuka and Becky Lynch battled each other again, but this time on the RAW brand. As Lynch was on top as RAW Women's Champion, Asuka would ally with former NXT Women's Champion Kairi Sane to form the Kabuki Warriors. Charlotte Flair was on the Warrior's hit list when she asked for some help from her former arch-rival.

Lynch and Flair reluctantly teamed with one another at TLC 2019 to challenge the Kabuki Warriors for their Women's Tag Team Championships. As Lynch was on her way to gabbing the gold, Asuka would deny Lynch again and tip the ladder over using a rope tied to the ladder.

5 Psychological Warfare

It became clear that Lynch couldn't get one over the Empress of Tomorrow. Despite changing the game as The Man, Lynch couldn't find an answer to defeating the once undefeated women's champion.

As the anniversary of their Royal Rumble battle marched closer, Lynch's confidence began showing some cracks. The Empress caught onto this and took advantage as she sprayed her with green mist, further breaking the Man's confidence in herself.

4 Royal Rumble Showdown - Part 2

With her spirit broken and the stakes high, Lynch defended her RAW Women's Championship against Asuka again at the Royal Rumble. Lynch also had to deal with Sane on the outside and the looming threat of Asuka's green mist.

Asuka did everything she could to snap Lynch's confidence that night and take her precious title. However, Lynch overcame the odds and defeated Asuka for the first time on PPV.

3 An Unexpected Twist

One of the most expected twists in this feud happened during the early stages of the pandemic. Lynch had successfully defended her title at WrestleMania 36, and the WWE was getting ready for Money In The Bank. While Asuka was ready for all challengers in the match, she wasn't prepared for what happened after winning the briefcase.

The next night after Asuka's Money in the Bank win, Lynch revealed that the briefcase didn't contain a contract to a future title match, but the title itself! Lynch then announced she was pregnant and awarded the title to her fiercest rival. The two women who had battled throughout the last two years ended up celebrating with one another in the ring.

2 Spoiling The Comeback

When Lynch returned from pregnancy, she adopted a more arrogant persona as she went against Bianca Belair on RAW. Though she took the title away from the EST at SummerSlam, Belair would work her way back to the main event picture and dethrone 'Big Time' Becky Lynch at the grandest stage of them all.

Lynch vanished from television after suffering a massive loss in front of thousands in Texas. She returned a few weeks later on RAW and declared that she would do everything possible to get her title back. That's when the Empress came around to spoil the comeback.

1 Things Never Change

Asuka once again became a constant throne on Lynch's side. At Hell in a Cell 2022, Asuka prevented Lynch from reclaiming the RAW Women's Championship against Belair in a triple threat match.

Things got worse for Lynch as she tried qualifying for the Women's Money in the Bank ladder match, only to be again outsmarted by the Empress. Lynch found out that sometimes in pro wrestling, things truly never change.
