Not every wrestling match can be a good one, and sometimes things just do not go to plan, no matter how talented those inside the ring might be. However, Vince McMahon is a person who can change his ideas on a whim, therefore it doesn't take much to put him off an idea.

That has been the case at times over the years, when he has seen a WWE match that is so poor he opts to change direction completely and change things. However, there are other matches that are simply terrible and they hurt a major storyline in the eyes of the fans, who no longer care about them because of it.

10 Buff Bagwell vs. Booker T (Raw, 7/2/01)

After WWE officially bought WCW there was a lot of excitement about what storylines could take place, and one that Vince McMahon wanted to do was give WCW its own show and continue the rivalry. He started things with a WCW-themed aspect of Monday Night Raw by having Booker T wrestle Buff Bagwell in the main event.

However, the match was a disaster and fans hated it. The in-ring work was not good in this one, and because things didn't connect between the wrestlers or the audience, Vince's entire idea was thrown out.

9 Shawn Michaels vs. Hulk Hogan (SummerSlam, 2005)

The idea of Shawn Michaels and Hulk Hogan having a trilogy of matches is a great one on paper, as they're two of the biggest names in WWE history. However, their encounter at SummerSlam in 2005 was a disaster, mainly due to Michaels deciding to oversell everything to the point of it being comedic.

It took fans right out of the match as they began to question what they were watching and because of that, the plans for this to be a trilogy were scrapped and this singular bout ended up living in infamy.

8 Eugene vs. The Calgary Kid (Raw, 8/10/09)

Eugene v Calgary Kid

Eugene returning to WWE in 2009 was a surprise that caught most fans off-guard, and it felt even more random when he just didn't turn up again. But, that wasn't the original plan, as the company had hoped to bring Eugene back into the fold on a full-time basis as a main roster character.

However, Vince McMahon hated his contract-on-a-pole match against The Calgary Kid (who was The Miz in a mask), and he ended up being let go straight away. This had to do with Eugene's in-ring shape at the time, which the WWE Chairman wasn't impressed by.

7 Bronson Reed vs. Drew Gulak (Main Event, 6/21/21)

Matches on Main Event don't tend to be that important, but in this particular case, it was. Bronson Reed was brought up to the show from NXT and given the chance to work against Drew Gulak as a tryout encounter to show the WWE Chairman what he was capable of.

The intention was for him to then transition onto the main roster and be part of WWE's plans, which would have been a big storyline. However, the match was so bad in Vince McMahon's eyes that he not only stopped the call-up, but Reed ended up being released by the company.

6 Cain Velasquez vs. Brock Lesnar (Crown Jewel, 2019)

Cain Velasquez was signed on a big contract by WWE, which was going to see him get a huge push as a top former UFC star. That all began with him getting to work against Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia, which ended up being a terrible match.

Velasquez might have been a big star in the MMA world, but this brief encounter ended up stopping that from happening in WWE as Vince McMahon was not impressed by what he saw between the two of them, which wasn't helped by the fact that Velasquez was injured in this one.

5 The Fiend vs. Seth Rollins (Hell In A Cell, 2019)

The storyline between The Fiend and Seth Rollins was something that WWE put a lot of investment in, with the company working hard to promote everything between them. However, the infamous Hell In A Cell match between them ruined the entire storyline and instantly took fans out of it.

Seeing a Hell In A Cell match end via referee stoppage made the simulation utterly redundant, and it didn't make either wrestler look good. The annoying red lighting made things hard to see, and it damaged the feud massively.

4 Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar (WrestleMania 34)

Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar have been feuding for years and throughout that time they have had plenty of matches against each other. However, their WrestleMania 34 encounter was a bad one, and it left a bitter taste in the mouths of the fans as it hurt the storyline massively.

This was just a case of going from one spot to the next without much thought placed into what they were doing, which was a shame to see. They were capable of a lot more than they gave, which is why fans felt let down by this one.

3 Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt (WrestleMania 33)

Heading into WrestleMania 33 the rivalry between Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt was a hot one that fans were heavily invested in. Orton had joined The Wyatt Family and infiltrated it from within, eventually going on to get a match with the leader, and the excitement for that match was high.

Unfortunately, the in-ring contest between them ended up falling flat and not being enjoyable. The two men just didn't click in the ring, which has always been the case, and the added bells and whistles of the insects being shown in the ring wasn't something that helped.

2 John Cena vs. Mark Henry (Money In The Bank, 2013)

The storyline between Mark Henry and John Cena was brilliant at the time, with this being the classic promo from Henry where he faked his retirement. That moment brought the heat between them, and people were excited about the work they were putting in until they competed.

The match was sluggish and boring, which hurt their rivalry because they had been putting in great work before the bell rang. Fans had been invested in everything that they did, but the follow-up just wasn't at the necessary level.

1 Triple H vs. Randy Orton (WrestleMania 25)

Triple H v Orton

Triple H and Randy Orton had one of the best builds to a WrestleMania match when they were set to face each other for the WWE Championship. It was heated and passionate, and it should've led to some form of stipulation match, yet instead, WWE handcuffed them even further.

The company added a stipulation that if Orton got disqualified he would lose the title, and all that did was take the heat out of the match, which frustrated the audience and ruined their rivalry.
