The wrestling industry enjoyed a real boom period within the '90s with several top companies being around, all battling for the attention of the fans. With every roster being loaded, talents were able to thrive as much as possible, and while they got to enjoy many great concepts, one they missed out on was the Money in the Bank ladder match.

The concept would have worked brilliantly in that time period as there were so many top stars around. Even the mid-cards were stacked with talent who were all capable of being main event players, and the briefcase could have taken them to that stage.

10 The Rock

The Rock with a gift

The Rock might have been one of the biggest stars in WWE history, but the '90s saw him growing to the top as well. He was able to work up the card in this period and when he was a young cocky heel, The Rock would have been a great person to give the briefcase to.

During his time in The Nation Of Domination, The Rock could have been a fantastic person for WWE to choose. Being able to undermine Farooq because of the briefcase, eventually leading to his takeover would only have enhanced that storyline.

9 Bret Hart

Bret Hart v Stone Cold WrestleMania 13

Bret Hart was one of WWE's top stars during the '90s, and because of that, it is likely he would have been given the briefcase as well. Whether he was a top babyface that fans loved or a detested heel, the Hitman could have made this opportunity work well.

He would have either been an underdog babyface everybody wanted to see step up, or the guy who could brag about it non-stop. Hart managed to achieve every possible major accomplishment throughout his career, and this would have been no different.

8 Lex Luger

Everybody would be getting behind the Lex Express with the Money in the Bank briefcase if it was around at that time. He is somebody that WWE was massively behind at one point, and if the briefcase was around he would have been given it.

Luger was the type of talent that fans would have enjoyed seeing win too, as he was popular enough to achieve it at that time. While it's hard to imagine him in a multi-man ladder match, there's no doubt he would have made it work with his power and strength.

7 Rikishi

Rikishi

Rikishi might have spent a lot of time working in the tag team division, but his push to the main event scene proved he had what it took to be a World Champion. WWE never quite went all the way and gave him the run with the title.

However, had Money in the Bank been around, this could easily have taken him to the promised land. Rikishi would have been a great heel threat to whoever was World Champion at the time, and the briefcase was designed to create new main event stars.

6 Mark Henry

Mark Henry is another big man from the '90s who would have been a great talent to win the briefcase. He was someone who always had stop/start pushes in his career, and that's something the Money in the Bank could have helped with.

Giving him the briefcase would have led to Henry becoming the top monster heel that he ended up becoming many years later. However, if WWE had done it sooner, they'd have had the World's Strongest Man in the main event scene for much longer.

5 Ted DiBiase

Ted DiBiase's gimmick just perfectly suits being Mr. Money in the Bank, which is why this is a no-brainer. DiBiase has the right personality and promo ability to make this entertaining as well because he could have pushed the buttons of others while holding it.

DiBiase may not have even had to compete in the ladder match either. He could have paid somebody else to do that for him or bribe the eventual winner in order to reap the rewards.

4 Razor Ramon

Razor Ramon

It's surprising that Razor Ramon was never able to be a World Champion in WWE as he had all of the tools to be in that spot. However, he would have been an excellent Money in the Bank winner.

He was the type of wrestler who was always just on the outside of capturing the big prize, and because of that, the briefcase could have easily taken him to the next level.

3 Ric Flair

The Nature Boy got to compete in the Money in the Bank once during his career, but he was never someone fans felt could win. However, if the match was around in the '90s, he would have had a great shout to win it.

Flair was still at the top of his game at this point and he would have carried the briefcase with class and passion that would have had the fans going crazy with his promo ability.

2 Jeff Hardy

As a true risk-taker, Jeff Hardy is a ladder match expert and it's surprising that he hasn't won the match before. In the '90s, Hardy would have been a fantastic option for WWE to truly get behind and push as a singles star, which is something that the Money in the Bank could have facilitated.

He might not have been a favorite heading in, but impressive performances in the TLC matches would have made Jeff a genuine option within this stipulation.

1 Triple H

If the Money in the Bank had been around in the '90s, it is inevitable that Triple H would have gotten his hands on it. During this time he was working his way up the ladder and was quickly proving himself to be one of the elite stars in the industry.

The Game was a top-level heel but he wasn't *the* guy at this point. Because of that, he would have been the perfect wrestler to give the briefcase to as his arrogant personality could have suited this gimmick.
