AEW’s women’s division has had its fair share of ups and downs since the promotion began three years ago, with criticism regarding storylines, match time, and spots on the show. However, Britt Baker’s presentation has very much remained a constant, with her being the biggest female star in the company, even at the times in which she isn’t booked as champion.

Not everything has been perfect for Baker though, with her time in the company coming with some positives and negatives. She has had both good and bad matches, great moments and awful segments, and quite a lot in between too.

10 Best: Turning Heel

Britt Baker Heel Turn

Britt Baker began her AEW run as a smiley, bland babyface. It was a character which was steadily losing support from the fans, and something needed to change. She came out on an episode of Dynamite, starting her heel turn as she cut a more heel-like promo.

From there, Baker began getting more unlikable each week, and it changed the entire trajectory of her career. Had Baker continued as a babyface, then she wouldn’t have become the star she is today.

9 Worst: Burger Segment

Britt Baker Nyla Rose AEW Championship Celebration

After Britt Baker finally won the AEW Women’s World Title, she should have been given a huge celebration with it being such a major moment and potential changing point for the division as a whole.

However, in an odd segment, Baker invited some random heels to the ring and told all the fans they had burger coupons, only to tell them that they didn’t, and that all the burgers were for her. The segment ended with Nyla Rose throwing burgers and ruining Baker’s celebration. It was awful television.

8 Best: Getting Nose Injury (In Hindsight)

Of course, receiving a broken nose and being ruled out of the ring for quite some time isn’t a good thing. However, when looking at how much that helped Baker’s career, it can be looked at as a blessing in disguise.

Baker’s bloodied face became a notable image early in the pandemic era, which made her look tough. In addition, AEW kept her on TV as a regular, with her often cutting promos and doing other things to keep herself relevant, and to expand on her newly-formed heel persona.

7 Worst: Match Versus Vickie Guerrero

Britt Baker wins the match

Unfortunately for Britt Baker, she was involved in one of the worst matches in AEW Dynamite history, when she teamed up with Rebel to take on Nyla Rose and Vickie Guerrero.

Rebel got injured during the match, which left her awkwardly sitting there whilst the match continued. Guerrero was awful in the bout, and she added absolutely zero to proceedings.

6 Best: “Brittsburgh” Homecoming

Even when heels enter their hometown, they are often presented as heroes in AEW, with them embracing the fan reaction rather than actively going against it. Britt Baker is from Pittsburgh, and when AEW Rampage aired from there, Baker’s reaction was stunning.

She remained a heel but took in the appreciation from her home crowd, with her able to defend her AEW Women’s World Title in the main event of the show.

5 Worst: Owen Hart Tournament Win Aftermath

Adam Cole and Britt Baker AEW Owen Hart Cup

Winning the inaugural Owen Hart Tournament should have been a big moment, especially as she shared it with her partner, Adam Cole, who won the men’s side of the tournament. However, the win brought very little in terms of momentum.

Her win was quickly forgotten about, with her not donning the belt she was given for winning it. The first match Baker wrestled after emerging victorious in the competition ended in a defeat, which felt very counterproductive.

4 Best: Winning AEW Women’s World Title

Double or Nothing 2021 was a notable show, with it bringing a full crowd back to AEW following the pandemic era. Britt Baker challenged Hikaru Shida for the AEW World Women’s Title in a match where everyone expected her to win, but it was a title change which was a long time coming.

Baker won the title to a huge ovation, crowning one of the most over competitors on the roster with gold. It was a great moment for her, and it firmly established her at the top of the company.

3 Worst: Tooth & Nail Match

Britt Baker Big Swole

During her time injured, Britt Baker built up a feud with Big Swole. It was a rare non-title women’s feud, so it was met with positivity.

Baker’s return to action came at All Out 2020, in a cinematic Tooth & Nail match, which took place at Baker’s dental practice. This was up there with the poorest of cinematic bouts. The acting was terrible, the filming of it felt clumsy, and the setting just didn’t work. It is perhaps the worst PPV opener in AEW history.

2 Best: Lights Out Match Versus Thunder Rosa

Britt-Baker-Thunder-Rosa

The first portion of the Thunder Rosa vs Britt Baker feud was a big highlight for AEW, with it again being a rare case of a non-title women’s feud. It was physical, intense, and it led to a Lights Out match.

In terms of Dynamite main events, this is up there with the best. It was a brutal match that stole all the headlines. Even though Baker lost, she came out of the match looking like an absolute star, with it further propelling her up the card.

1 Worst: Final Chapter Of Thunder Rosa Feud

Britt Baker vs Thunder Rosa AEW Revolution

AEW tried to revisit the magic they had with the initial Rosa vs Baker feud, but the most recent chapter in 2022 was a complete let down. The promos were uninspired, and the matches were plodding and slow.

Their Steel Cage match didn’t hold the same heat and buzz as their Lights Out match, with it feeling like a poor copy when all was said and done.
