AEW is the home for some of the best tag team wrestling in the world, and that does not appear to be changing anytime soon. With the depth that All Elite Wrestling has cultivated within their tag team division, it appears as if the company will never have a shortage of great teams.

With one reign as AEW World Tag Team Champions in the books, as of early 2022, Jurassic Express have been a fan-favorite team since AEW's inception in 2019. Despite this, there are surely a number of things that even the biggest fans do not know!

10 They Originally Had A Different Name

While fans know and love this duo (and sometimes trio, with Marko Stunt), Jurassic Express was not the original name for the tag team.

During their appearance on the AEW Podcast, Jungle Boy revealed that he and Luchasaurus were behind the original name, with Tony Khan being the creator of the "Jurassic Express" naming. It was also noted during the interview that AEW's Joey Janela had a very negative reaction to the name, telling Khan that "it's f*cking stupid".

9 They Only Started Teaming A Few Months Before AEW

With the duo debuting in AEW the same year that they started teaming, Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus have not been teaming together for long despite their rise in AEW.

The duo made their debut in early 2019, in Bar Wrestling, with their first noted match being a trios match with Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus teaming with Solo Darling against the team of Brandon Cutler, Eli Everfly, and Delilah Doom. They would not officially debut the "A Boy and His Dinosaur" moniker until after AEW's Double or Nothing PPV in May 2019.

Wrestlers dating one another will never come as a shock, as there have been many noted relationships and marriages between coworkers within the world of professional wrestling. In AEW's short period, there have already been a number of couples

Appearing on Renee Paquette's Oral Sessions podcast, Jungle Boy revealed that he and Anna Jay first started seeing each other after a game of beer pong at an AEW party in which he and Joey Janela teamed against Jay and Alan Angels of the Dark Order. From there, their romantic relationship began, with the two going public after Jungle Boy's AEW World Championship Match with Kenny Omega.

7 Luchasaurus Was In NXT

While All Elite Wrestling have made some big signings of former WWE and NXT stars like Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson, there are cases where a wrestler may have spent time in the WWE system without ever becoming a known star. That is the case for the jolly green giant of AEW.

Going under the ring-name of Judas Devlin, he began with WWE in 2012 while developmental was still named FCW. Eventually, the brand became NXT, and he would go on to be featured at the NXT live events in Florida but would only appear on TV once, teaming with Dax Harwood of FTR in a two-on-one handicap match against Adrian Neville, AEW's PAC.

6 Luchasaurus Was Killed By Taya In Lucha Underground

After being released by WWE in 2014, before becoming the dinosaur fans know and love today, he would wrestle under the name of "Just Judas" on the independent scene for a few years before entering Lucha Underground as Vibora.

Debuting in 2016, Vibora would be a sort-of predecessor to Luchasaurus, with a similar look, just more snake-like. He would become a part of the Reptile Tribe faction, winning the Lucha Underground Trios Championship with Pindar and Drago, with the faction's leader being AEW's Thunder Rosa with a totally different look as Kobra Moon. During the final season of Lucha Underground in 2018, Vibora would meet his end after being decapitated by Taya Valkyrie, killing off the character permanently!

5 The Team Did Not Have A Win In AEW Until 2020

While the team of Jurassic Express have remained popular since their initial debut in AEW, their record has not always been the greatest.

Going down with an injury in the fall of 2019, Luchasaurus would not be able to wrestle much during the early days of AEW Dynamite and AEW Dark, leading to Jungle Boy and Marko Stunt teaming in his place. During this period, the team would not pick up any wins during the first months of AEW Television. The team would ultimately pick up their first AEW win in January 2020 after Luchasaurus was able to return.

4 Luchasaurus Was On Big Brother

After his release from WWE in 2014, but before making his debut as part of the Reptile Tribe in Lucha Underground, Luchasaurus would be a contestant on Big Brother during the show's 17th season.

Appearing on the reality television program under his real name, Austin Matelson would be one of the contestants on the show during 2015. He would make it 12 weeks into the competition before being eliminated, finishing in fifth place!

Despite being primarily seen as a tag-team wrestler during the first few years of AEW, Jungle Boy has had sporadic big-time singles matches in the company. The first of these would come towards the end of 2019, where he would face off against the top heel in the company.

With Chris Jericho being in the midst of the inaugural AEW World Championship reign, he would primarily focus on feuding with younger talent, namely "Hangman" Adam Page, Darby Allin, and Scorpio Sky, for the title. However, at the end of the year, Jungle Boy would step up for a special singles match with Jericho, where the champion stated that Jungle Boy would not be able to last 10 minutes against him. A time limit was put in place, and in an upset moment, the younger member of Jurassic Express would last the full 10 minutes in his first major singles match in the company.

2 Luchasaurus Has A Master's Degree

Now one of AEW's most popular big men, Luchasaurus' career has been a crazy one to say the least. Having time in WWE, being a part of a reality show, becoming AEW Tag Team Champion, and being decapitated by another wrestler are surely highlights, but outside his entertainment work, he has a major achievement under his belt.

Despite being homeschooled for all of his life, Matelson would eventually attend California State University, where he would not only get his Bachelor's Degree, but would also receive his Master's Degree in Medieval Literature.

1 Jungle Boy Has Challenged For All 3 AEW Men's Championships

Now known to the AEW fanbase as one of "The Four Pillars" of All Elite Wrestling, alongside Darby Allin, Sammy Guevara, and MJF (or Britt Baker, according to CM Punk), Jungle Boy, at age 24, has done something that not many others in the company have yet to accomplish.

Between 2019 and early 2022, Jungle Boy has challenged for each of the three men's championships in AEW, with matches for the TNT Championship, the AEW World Championship, and the AEW World Tag Team Championship all under his belt, despite his young age.
