Hard to believe, but it has been over a year since the wrestling world lost Brodie Lee. The former WWE and AEW star passed away on December 26, 2020. Lee had been battling an illness for a number of weeks, the details of which were only known by those closest to the former Intercontinental Champion. AEW held a tribute show for Lee shortly after his passing, a night that will go down as one of the most emotional in wrestling history.

That night was the first time the wrestling world was properly introduced to Lee's son, Brodie Lee Jr. Brodie Jr. was awarded the TNT Title that night and a new one was made to continue its lineage on TV. Lee made multiple appearances after that, showing everyone that despite still being a child, wrestling is flowing through his veins. He has been in skits with The Dark Order and can even cut one hell of a promo considering his age.

Making History With Brodie Lee Jr.

Even though Lee would tell you he could get in the ring and hold his own right now, it's obviously going to be a while before he becomes a wrestler and signs with AEW. When that inevitably happens, AEW has the chance to do something no one else in wrestling has ever done before. Yes, there are plenty of second and third-generation wrestlers in the industry. There's even a fourth-generation wrestler training at WWE's Performance Center right now in the form of Simone Johnson.

Lee appearing on TV as a child only to become a wrestler once he's old enough isn't new either. Charlotte Flair and Dominik Mysterio can both boast that already. The added element here for Lee is emotion. The young star was introduced to us during a tribute show for his dad. Given the TNT Title and his own number in The Dark Order. He is basically already a member of the AEW roster, and that will make for some incredible storytelling once he is trained and old enough to wrestle.

AEW has already been doing the right thing in regard to pretty much everything with Lee. They did right by Lee and the rest of his family, gave him a spotlight for a few weeks, and while they still continue to care for them, Lee isn't front and center anymore. He might be a wrestler in a few years, but he's still a kid right now. As great as it is to see him on TV, no matter how much you loved his dad, that'll get old if you do it every single week for the next eight years.

An Angle Ready And Waiting

Lee can pop up here and there, and perhaps disappear entirely when he starts training properly for his debut. Once he's ready, he has a debut already written for him. As touched upon above, Tony Khan gave Lee the TNT Title. It was a gesture, of course, as the actual championship's lineage has continued uninterrupted. However, Lee showing up on Dynamite years from now, his dad's belt over his shoulder, to confront whoever the TNT Champion is at the time and claim to be the true champ. That's the sort of long-term storytelling many fans can only dream of.

There's also The Dark Order to consider. The direction of the group has been called into question a lot since Lee's passing, with many wondering whether it will ever get a new leader. The odds of the group still being around once Lee Jr. is ready to wrestle are incredibly unlikely. Continuing his dad's work by reforming the group, however, now that's something entirely feasible, and something fans would absolutely eat up. Lee can bring back any current members still around, and handpick a few new people to fall in line behind him.

Perhaps the most exciting thing about all of this is trying to envision where AEW and the business as a whole will be once Lee is grown up and ready to wrestle full time. When thinking about him showing up with his dad's TNT Title, or leading a new Dark Order, it's almost impossible not to imagine him stood in a present-day AEW arena. Wrestling continues to change so much right now though. The landscape will be so much different by the time Lee Jr. wrestles his official debut. AEW can keep that card in its back pocket though. It isn't going to let us forget about Lee's family, nor would we want to. When Negative One walks through that curtain as a wrestler as well as a wrestler's son, there will be some incredible stories waiting to be told.
