Impact Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo was scheduled to defend the title against a mystery opponent at the 2021 Slammiversary PPV. Impact Wrestling revealed the debuting Thunder Rosa as the surprise opponent at the event, and the two wrestlers squared off for the title.

Purrazzo and Rosa had a decent match that lasted 10:30 minutes, which saw both wrestlers gain control over each other and have some near falls. However, Thunder Rosa wasn't able to make her debut more eventful by winning the title as Purrazzo managed to hit the Queen's Gambit on Rosa to retain the title.

9 Thunder Rosa vs. Toni Storm (AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2022) - 3.5

After saving Thunder Rosa from a post-match beat down at the hands of Marina Shafir on the June 8, 2022, episode of Dynamite, Toni Storm teased a potential match between her and Rosa for the AEW Women's World Championship.

The match came to fruition at the AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door event in June 2022, and the two wrestlers competed in a back-and-forth match for 10:42 minutes. Toni Storm proved to be a worthy challenger for Rosa, but when she tried to hit the Storm Zero on Rosa, her shoulder gave out, which allowed Thunder Rosa to perform the Final Reckoning on Storm to retain the title.

8 Britt Baker & Maki Itoh vs. Riho & Thunder Rosa (AEW Revolution 2021) - 3.5

Thunder Rosa was set to team with Riho to take on Britt Baker and Rebel at the 2021 AEW Revolution PPV. However, Rebel sustained an injury at the last moment, which led to Maki Itoh coming out as a surprise replacement to partner with Baker at the event.

The match took place at the Buy-in preshow of the PPV and went on for a decent 14:50 minutes. In the end, Britt Baker pinned Thunder Rosa to win the match after Rebel hit the latter with a crutch while the referee was distracted.

7 Riho vs. Thunder Rosa (AEW Women's World Championship Eliminator Tournament 2021) - 3.5

Thunder Rosa competed in the AEW Women's World Championship Eliminator Tournament in 2021. She defeated Leyla Hirsch in the first round in the United States bracket and advanced to the semi-final.

She faced Riho in the semi-final and looked to defeat the former AEW Women's World Champion to advance to the final. The match took place on February 28, 2021, and went on for 11:33 minutes. They had a decent back-and-forth contest, but despite Riho's best attempt, Thunder Rosa came out victorious in the end after rolling up Riho to get the pin and advance to the final.

6 Hikaru Shida vs. Thunder Rosa (AEW All Out 2020) - 3.5

Thunder Rosa made her All Elite Wrestling debut on the August 22, 2020, episode of Dynamite and challenged Hikaru Shida to a match for the AEW Women's World Championship. AEW announced that the match would happen at the 2020 All Out PPV. Thunder Rosa took the early advantage in the match and looked strong, but Shida countered with a brain buster for a near fall.

They took the action outside the ring, where Shida hit a Meteora on Rosa on the entrance ramp. After some intense sequences, Hikaru Shida performed a running knee on Rosa to retain the championship after a hard-fought 17:00 minutes.

5 Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter vs. Thunder Rosa & Toni Storm (Dynamite, August 3, 2022) - 3.75

Before defending the AEW Women's World Championship against Jamie Hayter at the 2022 AEW Battle of the Belts event, Thunder Rosa got the opportunity to get her hands on her opponent in a tag team match on the August 3, 2022, episode of Dynamite.

While Thunder Rosa teamed with Toni Storm, Jamie Hayter partnered with Britt Baker. Both wrestlers looked to gain the emotional advantage over the other by winning the match, but in the end, it was Baker and Hayter who came out victorious after Hayter performed a short-arm lariat on Toni Storm.

It was a steel cage match, and it took place at the main event of the night. Thunder Rosa walked out determined to capture the title from Britt Baker, while the latter looked to replicate her success from the Revolution PPV. After an intense contest that lasted 17:33 minutes, Thunder Rosa delivered a Fire Thunder Driver on Baker on top of some thumbtacks to win her first AEW Women's World Championship.

It was a falls count anywhere, anything goes contest, and the two wrestlers took the liberty of the stipulation and took each other to their limits. Thunder Rosa took some punishment during the match as Baker delivered a DDT and Curb Stomp on her on top of a steel chair. However, the final moments of the match saw Rosa powerbomb Baker on top of thumbtacks for a near fall before finally performing the Fire Thunder Driver to end the match after a hard-fought 16:37 minutes.
