AEW has only been around as a company for a couple of years, but Tony Khan has wasted no time in putting together a stacked roster. From thrilling upcoming wrestlers to keeping an eye on legendary names who have had incredible careers, the roster is balanced with a lot of different talents.

However, while there are plenty of great talents that are vital to how AEW operates, the company has brought together a large number of employees that aren't necessary. While everybody in AEW brings a lot of quality, there are certain people that the company doesn't truly need.

10 Vickie Guerrero

Vickie Guerrero is a fantastic talker and someone who can draw heat from fans with ease, therefore it is easy to see why AEW would want to sign her. However, she hasn't been used brilliantly since joining the company.

Pairing her with Nyla Rose was a smart choice, but Vickie isn't used regularly, especially not in front of the fans cutting promos. A lot of her work is backstage, which doesn't have the same impact, leading to question marks over if she is truly needed.

9 Jake "The Snake" Roberts

When Jake Roberts was first brought in to AEW, there was a lot of excitement about him because of what he provides in terms of promos. Originally, his relationship with Lance Archer was brilliant, yet slowly but surely, he has become less important to Archer's character.

It has been several months since Roberts was last seen on television, which is why it isn't clear why he is needed as a talent. If the company could create something for Roberts to do, his use would be obvious, but at the moment that isn't the case.

8 Chavo Guerrero

Andrade El Idolo turns on Chavo Guerrero on the September 10 edition of AEW Rampage

Chavo Guerrero was brought in to work with Andrade, which seemed like an exciting pairing that could have been developed into something exciting. However, he was quickly disposed of by the former WWE star, which has left everybody questioning why he was brought in.

The partnership between them was so short that it is instantly going to be forgettable, which is a shame considering the experience that Chavo has. He could have offered a lot more to the company, and at this point, it is hard to see what he is providing.

7 Peter Avalon

AEW's Peter Avalon

Peter Avalon was brought in early on as a member of the AEW roster, but from the start, it has been hard to see why the company needed him. His original Librarian gimmick was hated by fans, which forced the company to stop pushing it so hard.

However, since then, there hasn't been much justification to push him on to the next level. With the company having more talented comedic stars such as Orange Cassidy, it is hard to see how he is necessary to the roster.

6 Alex Marvez

Alex Marvez interviewing Jon Moxley

Alex Marvez was originally brought in as a commentator for AEW, but he was quickly pulled from that role and replaced, with the company deciding to go a different direction. He was kept around as a backstage interviewer, but even then he isn't needed.

The company has Tony Schiavone completing the vast majority of the big interviews that AEW does to advance its storylines, therefore Alex isn't someone that the company needs to have around.

5 Joey Janela

Joey Janela makes his entrance

When Joey Janela first started performing for AEW, he was pushed because of his ability to take big bumps and work a violent style. However, since that stage, the company has signed plenty of wrestlers who are all happy enough to do the same thing.

The likes of Luther, Jon Moxley, and Eddie Kingston have been able to fill that gap and do so with slightly more star power and excitement, which leaves Janela's role in the company unclear. Considering he is rarely pushed by creative, it is clear that he's not as needed as others.

4 Michael Nakazawa

Michael Nakazawa AEW

Michael Nakazawa fulfills the role of a goon for The Elite, providing comedic moments as he happily takes a beating to put over others. However, the problem he has is that the group also has Brandon Cutler doing that exact role.

There isn't a need for both of them to be doing the same thing as it isn't as effective when that happens. Brandon is slightly better at this role, with the mask and the spray helping him stand out more, which is why Nakazawa isn't needed.

3 Christopher Daniels

Christopher Daniels

Christopher Daniels is a fantastic wrestler and his impact early on with the company deserves plenty of credit. However, once SCU came to an end, the need for him to be part of the company wasn't as high because AEW doesn't book him as frequently.

While Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky have landed other roles within AEW, Daniels hasn't been utilized. Because of that, he isn't needed as an in-ring talent anymore, with Daniels being best served behind the scenes.

2 Mark Henry

Mark Henry AEW suit

Fans were surprised when Mark Henry was announced as an AEW signee, purely down to how loyal he had been with WWE throughout his career. However, he hasn't offered much to the company since he made his first appearance.

Henry has been used in a couple of different roles from commentary to appearing backstage as an interviewer. However, having a Hall Of Famer interviewing stars backstage feels like AEW shoehorning him onto the product for the sake of it, proving he isn't needed.

1 Paul Wight

Paul Wight in AEW

Paul Wight falls into a similar situation to Mark Henry in the sense that he certainly has star power and name value, but he doesn't bring too much to the product. Wight does work on commentary, but this isn't an area where AEW is short on people, which is why he isn't necessarily needed.

Inside the ring, Wight is certainly past his peak, and how he has been used hasn't been the best. He's not had a memorable storyline to this point and it is hard to see why he is truly a necessity to the company in terms of on-screen talent.
