AEW is no longer planning on having Hangman Page challenge Kenny Omega for the World Title at All Out.
AEW's Fight For The Fallen opened with a major match on Wednesday night. A Survivor Series-style bout between The Elite and The Dark Order. If The Dark Order could win, they would earn shots at the World and Tag Team Titles. Lose, and they had to sacrifice those shots to someone else. Unfortunately for Hangman Page fans, The Dark Order was unable to fend off The Elite.
Omega Now Needs A New Challenger
Fans likely assumed that AEW has a plan to get Page his title shot at All Out. The angle between him and Omega has been the focal point of AEW for weeks, and Page's redemption after failing to become the company's first World Champion has been bubbling away for two years.
However, according to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that is not going to be the case at all. Apparently, Page's loss to Omega is very much the end of his quest to become World Champion for now. Dave Meltzer reports that AEW plans on having Omega defend the title against someone else at All Out. There is still more than a month to build to the show with a lot of episodes of Dynamite and Rampage to fill between now and then.
The Belt Collector Has A Lot On His Plate
AEW does have a lot of plates to spin when it comes to Omega's booking. His next AEW Title challenger will hinge on what order Tony Khan wants him to lose his belts. Omega is also AAA's Mega Champion, a title he will defend at Triplemania versus Andrade. Even if Omega does lose that match, the Mega Title will still belong to someone who is currently under contract to AEW. The Cleaner is also still the Impact World Champion.
The biggest question mark hanging over AEW's decision to not go with Page versus Omega at All Out is who exactly will be challenging for the title on that show? The seemingly imminent arrivals of Daniel Bryan and CM Punk might have a lot to do with it. AEW basically confirmed Punk will be at Rampage when it airs from the United Center in Chicago next month. That show takes place a little more than two weeks before All Out.
