Taking to Twitter, the AEW star said he would be making the announcement on Monday next week, January 17, but did not indicate what he would be announcing.

His tweet said: “I’m currently headed to Orlando for #AEWDark! #PPAALLDAY Wanted to let folks know that I’ll have an ANNOUNCEMENT on my career status THIS MONDAY, 1/17! Thanks for your support!”

Speculation on what the announcement could be has now come up online, with some feeling he might reveal his retirement from in-ring competition, others think a departure from AEW could be on the cards, or even that he's been given a new backstage role with the company.

It certainly wouldn't be surprising to see Avalon leave the company or step away from the ring given that AEW's roster seems to be increasing on a weekly basis and doesn't seem to show any signs of stopping anytime soon.

What Has Peter Avalon Done In AEW?

Avalon's stint in AEW has been rather uneventful with him being used as enhancement talent at best. He is perhaps best known in Tony Khan's company for having a prolonged losing streak of 27 back-to-back losses. However, that streak ended when he recorded a singles victory against Fuego Del in November 2020.

He was also a regular in The Elite's Being The Elite YouTube series after signing for AEW back in 2019 alongside The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega and Adam 'Hangman' Page to name just a few people.

More recently, he’s been a part of ‘The Wingmen’ stable, which includes himself, Cezar Bononi, JD Drake, Ryan Nemeth.

Avalon has also appeared for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Championship Wrestling From Hollywood, and as the character, Norv Fernum, in TNA/Impact Wrestling.
