Debuting in 1982, “The Enforcer” Arn Anderson first found success teaming with his kayfabe uncle, Ole Anderson as the Minnesota Wrecking Crew before ensuring his legacy as a founding member of the Four Horsemen faction with Ric Flair and Tully Blanchard. Anderson spent most of the rest of his career as part of World Championship Wrestling, often working alongside Flair.

While Anderson has remained in the wrestling business working for WWE and AEW, his in-ring career ended in WCW in 1997, though he did return for a couple of matches in 2000. Let’s take a look at Arn Anderson’s final 10 matches.

10 The Four Horsemen vs. Eddie Guerrero & Jeff Jarrett (WCW Monday Nitro, 1/20/1997)

The Four Horsemen vs. Eddie Guerrero & Jeff Jarrett (WCW Monday Nitro, 1/20/1997)

One of the big constants of Arn Anderson’s last stretch of matches is his enmity with Jeff Jarrett, who’s trying to ingratiate himself with the Four Horsemen, most of whom don’t trust him. This bout sees Jarrett’s randomly selected tag partner Eddie Guerrero ditching the match early to chase his rival, Syxx.

This leads to a supremely nonsensical finish, earning its #10 spot: while Arn Anderson has Jarrett in a submission hold, his partner Steve “Mongo” McMichael’s wife/valet Debra offers the referee her beauty queen sash as a way to throw in the towel on Jarrett’s behalf, despite being the valet for Jarrett’s opponents.

9 Arn Anderson & Ric Flair vs. Crowbar & David Flair (WCW Thunder, 5/17/2000)

Arn Anderson & Ric Flair vs. Crowbar & David Flair (WCW Thunder, 5/17/2000)

It’s tough to imagine a more appropriate tag team partner for Arn Anderson’s last televised match than Ric Flair. However, it’s tough to imagine a worse scenario for someone’s final match than Anderson and Flair’s Thunder bout against Crowbar and David Flair.

Arn got attacked backstage before the match, so he doesn’t even participate, and the overbooked near-90 seconds that ensue involve run-ins from Jeff Jarrett and Kevin Nash, but also Ric Flair pinning his son and Crowbar’s associate, Daffney to win the match, despite her not competing.

8 Arn Anderson vs. David Flair (WCW Thunder, 5/10/2000)

One week before the above match, Arn Anderson made his in-ring return to beat the stuffing out of Ric Flair’s unruly son in a singles match that, in true late period WCW fashion, ends in about two minutes.

Naturally, Anderson is more than capable of taking David Flair to the woodshed, so interference from Crowbar and Daffney is in order. The match ends in a DQ after use of foreign objects and a low-blow from Daffney, but Flair comes out on top leaving Arn beaten and bloody.

7 Arn Anderson vs. Rick Steiner (WCW Monday Nitro, 1/13/1997)

Arn Anderson’s final singles match before his random 2000 return is also mere minutes long and ends inconclusively. Taking on fellow tag team specialist Rick Steiner, Arn immediately has trouble going up against his opponent and ends up hopping out of the ring to call for his Horsemen buddies to interfere.

None of them show up, so Anderson decides to just walk out on the match to take an intentional countout loss. Soon enough, Nitro viewers find out that the Horsemen didn’t make it because they were having a big argument backstage.

6 The Four Horsemen vs. Dungeon of Doom (WCW Saturday Night, 1/25/1997)

The Four Horsemen vs. Dungeon of Doom (WCW Saturday Night, 1/25/1997)

Despite their big angle ending in spectacularly disastrous fashion at Uncensored ‘96, the Dungeon of Doom stuck around for a while after, with Meng, The Barbarian, and Hugh Morrus taking on Arn Anderson and Steve “Mongo” McMichael in a handicap tag match on this early 1997 episode of Saturday Night.

Strictly made to advance a storyline, the match ends in a DQ thanks to Jeff Jarrett running in to help out the Horsemen. In response, Arn and Mongo leave Jarrett to take a beating from the Dungeon of Doom all by himself.

5 Arn Anderson vs. The Barbarian (WCW Saturday Night, 1/18/1997)

A week before the above described handicap match, Arn Anderson took on former Power of Pain, The Barbarian in a singles match on Saturday Night that pretty much did the same thing. Anderson has trouble against the dominant monster heel, prompting Jeff Jarrett to run in to cause a DQ loss for Arn in the name of protecting him.

The difference here is that initially Arn Anderson wanted to bail out Jarrett from his beating at the hands of Barbarian and his corner man, Meng, but fellow Horseman Chris Benoit convinces Arn that Jarrett isn’t worth the effort.

4 The Four Horsemen vs. The Amazing French Canadians (WCW Monday Nitro 1/27/1997)

Before the aforementioned 2000 return, this was Arn Anderson’s final match. By this point, Anderson was dealing with numbness in his body due to a neck injury, and not even surgery could save his in-ring career.

Lasting about four-and-a-half minutes, the match isn’t incredibly important in the grand scheme of WCW. Carl Ouellet and Jacques Rougeau attempt to use their flag as a weapon to score an easy win, but then Anderon’s partner Steve McMichael uses his signature Halliburton briefcase to score an easy win instead.

3 Arn Anderson vs. Jeff Jarrett (WCW Monday Nitro, 1/6/1997)

Arn Anderson vs. Jeff Jarrett (WCW Monday Nitro, 1/6/1997)

This one-minute match on the first Nitro of 1997 starts in hilarious fashion, which alone justifies its place in these rankings. During a promo, Jeff Jarrett approaches the Horsemen to ask for a spot in the group, and gets into an argument with Arn Anderson.

A brawl ensues until it makes its way to the ring to suddenly become an official match with a referee and everything, which Jarrett wins — again, in one minute — after one swinging neckbreaker and a rope-assisted pin.

2 Arn Anderson vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr. (WCW Saturday Night, 1/4/1997)

Arn Anderson vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr. (WCW Saturday Night, 1/4/1997)

Days earlier, the first WCW Saturday Night of 1997 offered a fun random matchup as Arn Anderson took on cruiserweight Chavo Guerrero Jr.

These kinds of stylistic matchups — Arn’s a bruiser and Chavo’s a high-flyer — tend to be fun, especially with a no-nonsense character like Arn Anderson having to put up with flips and such. This bout also offers one of Arn’s few victories of his final 10 matches as he puts away Chavo clean with a DDT.

1 Arn Anderson vs. Kevin Sullivan (WCW Monday Nitro, 12/16/1996)

Arn Anderson vs. Kevin Sullivan (WCW Monday Nitro, 12/16/1996)

At the time, Kevin Sullivan was involved in a storyline with his real-life wife Woman and a Four Horsemen member — in both kayfabe and reality — but on this mid-December Nitro Arn Anderson stepped into the ring against Sullivan.

It’s a hectic match with a lot of interference from The Dungeon of Doom on Kevin Sullivan’s behalf, but eventually they’re able to hold on to Arn while Sullivan smashes a wooden chair over him to score a victory in four minutes.
