Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins put on a main event match at Hell in a Cell on Sunday night that will go down in the history books. Not only was the match excellent in its own right, but the fact these two were able to tell a great story while Cody wrestled with a completely torn pectoral muscle has fans calling this one of the most dramatic moments in WWE history. Reactions on social media during the bout talked about how genuinely nervous people were during the contest and backstage reactions in WWE to the match are starting to surface.

According to popular Twitter account @WrestleVotes, the reaction to the match behind the scenes has been extremely positive. They write, "I’ve had multiple sources reach out this morning w/ exemplary words for the performance Cody Rhodes put in last night. Credit to Seth Rollins as well. Those at Gorilla were said to have LOVED the match. A modern-day, all-time classic HIAC that WWE will treat as much going forward." In other words, WWE realizes what those two were able to accomplish and they won't soon forget about it. Expect a ton of talk on Raw and SmackDown and in video highlight packages or many Top 10 moments to come.

As for the reason Cody was able to wrestle, the pectoral muscle was completely torn off, thus Cody and WWE weren't worried that any further damage to the injury could take place. Had it been a partial tear, they wouldn't have let him wrestle. As such, it was more about how Cody might be able to handle the pain of wrestling with the injury than anything else.

Cody Is A Top Guy Now

While he'll be out for at least a few months, expect WWE to put the pieces in place to capitalize on the reception Cody will receive when he returns. Make no mistake, that match made him a top guy in WWE and they'll be treating him as such moving forward. He was already a big deal, but WWE realizes his performance on Sunday night elevated him to an entirely different level.
