Fun fact. Everybody has a wingspan, not just basketball players - it's simply the length of your arms and hands. The wingspan of most people is roughly 2 inches more than that person's height. While the vast majority of us everyday people don't exactly benefit from an unusually long wingspan, basketball players definitely do.

Their reach is their tool, and some of those guys have ridiculously long wingspans accompanying them onto the court. Here are ten of the longest wingspans in basketball. It's wild to think that the span of these guys' reach, fingertip to fingertip is about as long as the cars we drive to work!

10. Ike Anigbogu, Andre Drummond, Hasheem Thabeet, James Lang (7' 6.25)

These four Lords of The Basketball Court all share two things in common: their love for the game of hoops and their incredibly long wingspans. When it comes to measuring the space from fingertips to fingertips, these four basketball players all tied for tenth place on the wingspan leaderboard.  Their abnormally long wingspans helped them along in their basketball dreams by giving them a one up on the competition in shot blocking, deflections, and defensive plays. Every single little bit helps when it comes to extra reach and length, and these four folks were blessed with an extra dose of super stretch.

9. Jonathan Jeanne, Eddy Curry, Desagana Diop, Brendan Haywood, (7 Feet, 6.55 Inches)

These four famous faces in the world of sports have the pleasure of sitting in the 9th spot for longest recorded wingspans, holding strong at seven feet and 6.55 inches. Jonathan Jeanne hails from France and has recently been medically cleared to return to the game after being diagnosed with Marfan Syndrome. Eddy Curry and his long arms spent some time playing for the Chicago Bulls while Desagana Diop made his professional debut in Clevland and now helps coach the Utah Jazz. Brendan Haywood also played in Cleveland before retiring and becoming a college basketball announcer for CBS Sports and co-host/analyst on SiriusXM NBA Radio.

8. Udoka Azubuike, Jason Jennings and Hassan Whiteside  (7 Feet 7 Inches)

Azubuike is a center for the Kansas Jayhawks, as he withdrew from the NBA draft earlier this year. The team is surely happy to have his massively long wingspan for at least one or two more years. Jennings used his extra long arms to lead him to success first with Arkansas State, then was selected to the Portland Trailblazers but chose to take his winglike arms over to Europe to play professionally there. Hassan Whitehead was initially drafted to the Sacramento Kings and now plays for the Miami Heat. All of these players have wingspans of seven feet and seven inches.

7. Zhou Qi (7 Feet 7.75 Inches)

With a wingspan of seven feet and seven and three-quarters inches, Li became a big deal back in 2016 when he declared for the NBA Draft. At the time his tip to tip stretch made his wingspan the longest to that date. His reach was something the NBA had not yet seen. That year he was snatched up by the Houston Rockets as a 43rd overall pick, but his bark proved to be bigger than his bite, and many don't think that he rose to the expectations that had been placed upon him. Li is no longer the head dog when it comes to longest arm span, but he still tosses the ball around with those giant arms of his.

6. Chris Marcus (7 Feet 8 Inches)

Chris Marcus is a really big dude. He is over seven feet fall and weighs over three hundred pounds. His wingspan matches his other big numbers as measures seven feet and eight inches across. Marcus is best known for his basketball career at Western Kentucky University back in the early 2000s.  His sudden rise to success came crashing down in the latter half of his college basketball experience when he suffered an injury, rushed his rehabilitation and became addicted to alcohol. Sadly he left the university during his senior year because of the rocky road he found himself on.

5. Rudy Gobert ( 7 Feet 8.5 Inches)

French native Rudy Gorbert currently plays for the Utah Jazz and represents France during international competition. His crazy-long wingspan of seven feet and nine inches led him to clinch the NBA blocks leader in the 2016-2017 basketball season. The guy's height and reach pretty much makes him a wall of shutdowns. He even earned himself the nickname "The Stifle Tower" for his ability to thwart his opponents' attempts to score a basket against him. Throughout his years as a professional baller, he has used his long arms to help secure a space for himself as one of the Jazz franchise and the NBA's most defensive players.

4. Mouhamed Sene ( 7 Feet 8.5 Inches)

Mouhamed Sene is the Senegalese basketball giant who played first for the Seattle Supersonics in 2006 before bouncing around between several franchises in the NBA development league. He briefly played for the New York Knicks before trying his luck in France with the Hyères-Toulon Var Basket of the LNB Pro A. After a few years in France, he bounced over to Spain and then back to France. Perhaps his greatest accolade was receiving the D-league Defensive Player of the Year Award, thanks to his extra long arms that seem built for defensive plays.

3. Walter Tavares (7 Feet 9 Inches)

Walter Tavares never even played the game of basketball until he was seventeen years old where he was discovered by a German tourist who happened to be vacationing in Tavares's hometown of Cape Verde. In 2014, Tavares was selected to the Atlanta Hawks before moving over to the Raptors in 2016. He became the recipient of the NBA Development League Defensive Player of the Year Award as well as holds the crown for being the first and only player in the NBA to come from Cape Verde. Let's give Tavares and his lengthy arms a round of applause for his accomplishments.

2. Mohamed Bamba (7 Feet 10 Inches)

This 20-year-old basketball great grew up in Harlem, New York City, but now calls Orlando, Florida his home, for at least the duration of the professional basketball season. It is there that he uses all seven feet and ten inches of arms' reach to dominate the basketball court. Bamba has a presence in the game that makes him nearly unstoppable. His size and this arm span help him to shut down plays and help lead his team to victories. Barely into adulthood, Bamba and his gangly arms have an entire basketball name for themselves already, and he has several years ahead of him to perfect his defensive craft.

1. Manute Bol ( 8 Feet 6 Inches)

When it comes to wingspan, no one is getting close to this guy. Sudanese-born, professional basketball player Manute Bol stood a whopping seven feet and seven inches tall with an arm span of eight feet and six inches long. His height and reach allowed him to make more blocks during his basketball days than he made shots. To this day Bol is considered to be one of the game's finest shot blockers in all of basketball history. Sadly, Bol passed away in 2010 from kidney failure, thought to be a complication of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome.
