NBA players have seemingly got it all. They make tons of cash doing something that most times doesn’t even feel like work, are constantly in the spotlight, and, if they’re good enough, go on to become household names. They also attract some of the most beautiful women in the world. An NBA WAG piece is always an interesting one, as everyone just loves finding out who’s the wife or girlfriend of their favorite stars. As close as a WAG may be to her man, there’s no way all of them know much about basketball.
Heck, some might not even be interested, although they probably love attending games. Aside from scoring and not scoring, how much do you believe player's partners actually know about the sport?
Well, there’s no way to tell really. But based on certain lifestyles, we can certainly make assumptions. A lot of the WAGs in the list below have a career of their own or are deeply involved in various activities which could leave them with too little time to even think about basketball.
Maybe that’s not enough to go on, but hey, there’s only room for speculation and assuming in such matters. So with that, let’s take a look at 15 wives and girlfriends who probably know very little about basketball.

15 Ana Ledesma
Congolese national Bismack Biyombo has bagged himself a real hottie, but she doesn’t seem the type who would study basketball just because she’s dating an NBA player. In fact, Bismack is probably happier to be dating her.
The 24-year-old Orlando Magic center is currently seeing stunning Colombian model Ana Ledesma. Ana is a proud cancer survivor and is also a fitness junkie - probably the main reason for her beating the ugly disease. Unfortunately, her Instagram account is private, but she is said to have a flawless body and based on her profile photo, body fat seems quite foreign.
Her man, unfortunately, isn’t as big of a star; at least not yet. Having played in the league for five seasons prior to this one, he has only averaged 4.8 points per game.
14 Viviana Ortiz
Viviana Ortiz is the wife of Dallas Mavericks guard J.J. Barea. The couple have been married for less than a year, but hooked up in 2013 and have a daughter together.
Born in Puerto Rico, Viviana is an actress and model, who was named Miss Puerto Rico in 2010 and played in the top 16 when she represented her country in the Miss Universe pageant in 2011. She also has a bachelor's degree in telecommunications, which she earned after attending the Sacred Heart University of Puerto Rico.
With her own thing going on, plus being a full-time mother, does she really need to know everything about basketball? Her Instagram account, however, isn’t private. And although she does have a few great snaps on there, Barea is in most of them. Nobody really wants to see him.
13 Amelia Vega
Amelia Vega probably doesn’t know the nitty-gritties of the game and who could blame her? She does have a life of her own aside from being a WAG. The wife of Boston Celtics big man Al Horford, Amelia has quite a lot going on.
The Dominican Republic national married Horford in 2011 and is an actress, model and a singer. She is also the tallest woman to ever win the Miss Universe contest, having taken the crown in 2003. Amelia has appeared on the cover of several magazines and tested herself in the music industry after her stint as Miss Universe expired, although she did start at the tender age of 15.
She began dating Horford – who also hails from the Dominican Republic - two years before they married and the couple now have two kids together.
12 Jessyka Janshel
Jessyka Janshel is rumoured to be dating Houston Rockets star guard James Harden. The former Thunder man split up with Khloe Kardarshian early last year, but is said to be back on the horse and is boasting a new WAG. Jessyka is an Instagram model and student nurse, and the pair’s relationship is more or less under wraps, as they have never been spotted together and aren’t on each other’s social media pages.
Given her current ambitions, Jessyka probably has no time for the ins and outs of the game, and her rumored bearded boyfriend doesn’t seem the type who cares to explain. He didn’t have to do that with Khloe. She should have known all about basketball from dating former Lakers forward Lamar Odom.
11 Egle Acaite
Egle Acaite is the proud wife of Lithuanian basketball star Jonas Valanciunas.
Jonas, who plays for the Raptors, joined them in 2011 following his impressing of NBA scouts in FIBA competition for his country at youth levels. He has been a player on Lithuania’s men’s national basketball team since the age of 19 and was selected as the fifth overall pick of the 2011 Draft.
The center married Egle three years ago, proposing to her less than a year after they began dating and they've been happy together ever since. His wife is the daughter of a Lithuanian lawyer and politician and has a personal website that tracks all of her purchases, as well as everything she wants to buy.
She does seem a bit preoccupied with shopping and enjoying life. So it’s safe to assume that she doesn’t know more than what’s on the surface when it comes to basketball.
10 Kate Bock
Cleveland Cavaliers star Kevin Love is said to be the envy of the NBA champions’ locker room now that he’s dating hot model Kate Bock. Kate, Canadian, appeared in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue from 2013 to 2016 and is definitely in the top 10 when it comes to NBA WAGS. You wouldn’t disagree if you visited her Instagram page, and you wouldn’t be disappointed either. Jealous, though? Most probably.
She’s also appeared in magazines Maxim and Elle, having modeled for Victoria’s Secret as well.
Love’s love may have danced with the Miami Heat’s Golden Oldies at one point, but that doesn’t make her an expert on basketball. She will always be in her man’s corner, yet it would be surprising if she actually bothered with studying the sport in depth.
9 Alaina Anderson
Alaina Anderson is Derrick Rose’s girlfriend, and the only reason she’s on this list is because it’s quite safe to assume that she knows nothing about basketball due to the fact that her man has spent so much time away from the court with injury. Like what is even the point of learning anything basketball-related?
Derrick and Alaina have known each other for several years, as they’re both Chicago natives, but the pair only began dating last year. The Instagram model has seen her popularity surge because of her relationship with the former MVP. However, she is said to be really big on family and is quite fond of her grandparents, who probably both have stronger joints than the oft-injured New York Knicks guard.
8 Shay Mitchell
Believed to be Chicago Bulls guard Jimmy Butler’s other half, Shay Mitchell is quite the catch. The Canadian-born model is best known for her role as Emily Fields on the TV show Pretty Little Liars, but has also made appearances on Degrassi, Rookie Blue and Aaron Stone.
The 29-year-old began modelling in her teenage years and has been quite busy over the years. Sure her guy is a star player in the NBA, yet being with him is probably already enough and she doesn’t need to delve into the sport.
Butler, meanwhile, has a new partner in crime in Chicago, with Dwyane Wade, the former Heat guard and three-time NBA champion, joining him this year. If the bromance is strong and the WAGS get to commune, Gabrielle Union will have her speaking basketball lingo in no time.
7 Amber Alvarez
Stunning model and Instagram hit Amber Alvarez is the girlfriend of 28-year-old Los Angeles Clippers star DeAndre Jordan. The wacky big man will make his first NBA All-Star appearance this year, as long as he remains in good health, and Amber will probably be in attendance when the league takes its biggest show to New Orleans next month.
Her presence is well-nigh certain, but whether or not she’s an expert on all things basketball is up for debate, as she has her own thing going on, having been a model from age 16. DeAndre and Amber do seem a good couple, but the player risked it all when he decided to father a child outside of the relationship. Fortunately, though, they were able to work through it.
6 Joey Williams
This savvy businesswoman and girlfriend of Golden State Warriors guard Shaun Livingston has a lot more going on than just being a WAG. Joey Williams is the owner and founder of a Los Angeles photography company, so she could be forgiven for not having profound knowledge regarding basketball.
Livingston, meanwhile, won his first NBA Championship in 2015, helping the Warriors beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in the final after a record-setting season. They returned to the final the following year, but somehow contrived to get dethroned despite taking a 3-1 lead in the series.
The guard has been in the league since 2004, having gotten drafted as the fourth overall pick by the Clippers. He has since played for eight other NBA teams.
5 Meghan Allen
Former Fear Factor contestant Meghan Allen is Dallas Mavericks guard Devin Harris’ wife. She appeared on the show back in 2004 with then boyfriend James Wise in the Couples Edition, featuring in eight episodes.
Meghan was also the Playboy Cybergirl of the week at one point in 2007 and was named Cybergirl of the month in January of the following year, having participated in various softcore videos.
She married the one-time All-Star in 2013 after dating him for some time, so appearing in such footage again is now unlikely. Given her taste, though, one wouldn’t be bashed for assuming that she doesn’t know much about basketball.
As for Harris, he’s still plugging away in Dallas at the age of 33 and will turn 34 this month, but we can be sure that he knows more about her (former) profession than she knows about his.
4 Lauren Holiday
You guessed it. Lauren Holiday is the wife of New Orleans Pelicans star Jrue Holiday. We might be completely wrong on this one, but then again, we might not.
Lauren used to be an athlete herself, having played on the United States women's national soccer team from 2007 to 2015. Soccer, like basketball, is quite captivating and does take over one’s life; so she would be excused for not knowing much about her husband’s game. There’s also the possibility that they have actually given each other the rundown on the two sports, but she’s still not that much of a bad pick now.
Unfortunately for the couple, while Lauren was pregnant with their daughter, a brain tumor was found by doctors while she was under observation. Thankfully, it has since been removed and she is said to be recovering well.
3 Teyana Taylor
When you’ve got a singing and acting career, you don’t need to fuss over basketball. Basketball stars, though, are a completely different attraction.
This is the current situation with Teyana Taylor. The New York native is currently dating Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard Iman Shumpert, a defending NBA Champion, who won his first ring alongside LeBron James last year.
Teyana, who is signed to Kanye West’s label G.O.O.D. Music laval, accidentally let it slip that she married Shumpert during an interview on The Wendy Williams Show late last year. “I have a beautiful baby, a wonderful husband,” she said, having previously dodged questions over her relationship with the player. That baby is a one-year-old little girl named Iman “Junie” Tayla Shumpert Jr. Who knew Iman was a unisex name, though?
2 Rece Mitchell
Rece Mitchell is the girlfriend of Lakers guard Lou Williams and she’s apparently sharing the 30-year-old with another woman.
Williams is said to be still seeing Ashley Henderson, the mother of his two kids, and Rece has no problems whatsoever. If she’s cool enough to pay the situation no mind, then what reason does she have to really pay attention to every detail regarding her man?
She just doesn’t care.
Rece is also one half of a pair of twins and owns a weave retail shop along with her identical sister Daria.
As for Williams, he must be the envy of the entire NBA. There’s always a new case of a player getting in trouble because of infidelity, but things are so legal in his domain. He could definitely teach teammate Nick Young a few things.
1 Lindsay Davis
Model and actress Lindsay Davis is still thought to be the girlfriend of New Orleans Pelicans center Omer Asik. Asik hails from Turkey and stands at seven feet tall. He’s not that much of a scorer, and sometimes comes off as a clumsy big man, yet defensively, he’s one of the best guardians of the paint in the NBA.
His WAG, meanwhile, has featured on the cover of Ralph and FHM magazines. She was named Miss Ohio U.S. International in 2010 and then Miss Ohio United States a year later. Lindsay has also appeared in several TV shows, including the likes of Entourage, 90210, White Collar, Blue Bloods, Gossip Girl and Law and Order Criminal Intent.
The stunning blonde is not all about acting, however. She is deeply involved in charitable projects as well and has her own charity called Hearts-4-Hearts.
