15 Photos The NBA Wouldn’t Want To Go Viral

The NBA has an image to protect, and these players are not helping at all!

There are plenty of moments that the NBA would love you to talk about and share on social media. Those moments aren't on the list that you're about to read. If the league, and the specific superstars targeted, had it their way, the things you're about to read about and see wouldn't exist.

They're going to blast Steph Curry's face everywhere, but they probably aren't broadcasting his quirky "preferences" behind closed doors and when Mia Khalifa came Tweeting his way. They loved the Cavaliers coming back and beating the Warriors in 2016, but the league might not love you seeing a shirtless J.R. Smith pouring liquor all over a girl's head. Though at least it's only Smith's shirt that is missing in the photo and the world didn't get to see him in his birthday suit. Which is something that Greg Oden experienced in 2010.

And as you'll see with Steve Nash, Smith isn't the only NBA player who tends to show some skin when he drinks. Included are also descriptions of some of the biggest on-the-court incidents including the Malice at the Palace, the Tim Donaghy scandal and Rodman's attack on a cameraman.

These are 15 Photos The NBA Wouldn't Want To Go Viral.

15 J.R. Smith Parties Way Too Hard

via twitter.com

Yes, you read that heading right. J.R. Smith was definitely well-deserving of some ridiculous nights of partying after the Cavaliers knocked off the Warriors to bring Cleveland their first NBA Championship. And perhaps nothing signifies the fact that he's a star in Cleveland more than the fact that he got away with what is going on with this photo. He is LITERALLY pouring liquor out on some poor girl's head. God only knows how much that booze costs, not to mention how embarrassing that must have been for her to go through. But if he's doing that, he's also probably pretty far gone. There might not be anyone who parties harder than J.R.!

14 Mia Khalifa Teases Steph Over His "Preference"

via twitter.com

Steph Curry is one of the best basketball players in the league, but part of his success needs to be attributed to the success of his marriage to his wife Ayesha. One thing you probably didn't know about their relationship, however, was that Steph allegedly has a thing for her feet.

"The light was hitting them just right that day, so I was like, let me just snap this photo and send him a picture of my feet. So when he says to send nudes, like, that’s what he’s getting, a picture of my bare feet," said Ayesha when discussing his fetish.

Things became even more awkward for the NBA however when former adult star Mia Khalifa also tweeted out a photo of her feet to Steph. If he's a smart man, he definitely wasn't responding to that Tweet!

13 James Harden's Intimate Life

via blogspot.com

Now James Harden's camp has come out and said that the above photo was altered and that Harden didn't actually get his booty bumping on with this blonde. But when you look at the above photo, your first instinct probably isn't to think that. And it's not like the idea of Harden taking a woman to bed is all that shocking, though he did allegedly have a girlfriend at the time, which may have made the photo more awkward. Harden's past dating history also includes time with Khloe Kardashian who is currently dating Cleveland Cavalier Tristian Thompson. It is also reported that Khloe may allegedly be pregnant with his child. Which means that when Thompson's career in the NBA does come to an end that he'll definitely still have his hands full dealing with the paparazzi the rest of his life.

12 Charles Barkley's DUI

via nydailynews.com

One of the biggest nights to party it up is New Year's Eve. Charles Barkley is no stranger to the party scene, but in 2008 he decided to end the year by receiving a DUI. The situation is never a good look, but for Barkley, it perhaps became more embarrassing when he admitted to an officer that the reason he ran the stop sign (which is what got the cop's attention) was because he was so excited to go back with the girl he had with him in the car and receive some "downstairs" loving (if you know what we mean!). We're sure the girl took it as quite the compliment though. Let's hope Barkley getting arrested wasn't a turn-off for her or the arrest may have been costly in more ways than one for Barkley!

11 Dennis Rodman Is Buddy-Buddy With Kim Jong Un

via cnn.com

Part of being a celebrity is getting to hang out with various other celebrities. But we don't know if there are many people who would love to be friends with Kim Jong Un. And considering the increasing tension with North Korea in America, if they were a fan of Jong Un, they might not be broadcasting it.

But Dennis Rodman isn't exactly the most normal guy. Maybe that's why he and Kim Jong Un get along so well though? Rodman has visited North Korea on multiple occasions and in the past defended Jong Un as a person. Perhaps Trump and Rodman will sit down and discuss the "Rocket Man" in the near future, though Trump taking political advice from Rodman would be far from the craziest thing this administration has done.

10 Nike Jerseys Rip Too Easily

via youtube.com

The opening game of the NBA season between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics was highly anticipated for many reasons. But one of the biggest changes didn't come with the change of roster, but the adjustment to new jerseys; now sponsored by Nike. But the new jerseys didn't get a debut they'd be happy with when you consider King James' jersey split down the middle towards the end of the game. At least he still managed to look super cool doing it! This isn't the first time Nike jerseys' have split, but it was arguably the most damaging. ESPN later reported that Nike was looking into the jerseys and why they appeared so easy to rip.

9 Kevin Durant Awkwardly Defends Himself On Twitter

via twitter.com

Kevin Durant has plenty of people that are going to throw some haterade his way for his decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder and join up with the Golden State Warriors. He's defended his decision on multiple occasions, but the most awkward time came when he took to Twitter to defend himself, but not in the way he had planned.

Responding to a fans critique, Durant said “He didn’t like the organization or playing for Billy Donovan. His roster wasn’t that good. It was just him and Russ.” The phrasing quickly made people assume that he may have meant to respond to the fans' criticism with an alternate account. Durant has admitted in the past that sometimes he gets too aggressive with his Twitter game, but we're sure he'll make sure he is on the right account the next time he tweets.

8 Steve Nash Didn't Know His Limit

via twitter.com

Steve Nash always seemed to look composed and in control on the court. While he was never able to win the championship, he still came away with a career that lasted close to two decades and two MVPs. Which means there were still plenty of moments in his life where we are sure he felt like partying it up.

And while we're not too sure what put him in such a jubilant mood for the above photo, we're sure if he could have it his way that this photo would probably never end up seeing the light of day. Especially because it seems that the more Nash drinks, the more clothing he tends to take off!

7 The Dan Gilbert Comic Sans Letter

via imgur.com

There were many people who were upset that Lebron James elected to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat. One of the angriest was the owner of the Cavaliers Dan Gilbert who openly criticized Lebron in a letter that he posted online (though he later took it down). In the letter, which hilariously was written in Comic Sans font, Gilbert promises fans that they would see a championship before Lebron won one. Oops. LeBron as we all know went on to win many championships in Miami. Though at least the two were able to later bury the hatchet, even if we imagine that first conversation post-letter was incredibly awkward. Gilbert was fined $100,000 for his unprofessional actions.

6 Kobe Bryant's Assault Case

via thinkprogress.com

When talking about the amazing things that Kobe accomplished on the court, we could go on and on. But the worst moment of Kobe's career may have come in an off-court scandal in 2003. While he was not charged, an assault case left Kobe with the need to file a civil suit with the defendant outside of court. The allegations came after a 19-year-old employee of the Lodge & Spa Inn said that Kobe assaulted her. While Bryant did admit to being intimate with the accuser, he denied it was not consensual. The scandal didn't derail his career, including signing a $100+ million contract within a year, but it was far from the best look for the league.

5 Malice At The Palace

via postgradproblems.com

There may not be a more infamous fight in NBA history than the Malice At The Palace. After a fight broke out between the Indiana Pacers and Detroit Pistons; largely centring around a confrontation between Ben Wallace and Ron Artest, a fan named John Green threw a beverage at Artest. Artest proceeded to storm the stands, wrongfully confronting the wrong person, and in the process escalating the situation as other fans started pummelling players with drinks and objects. Teammate Stephen Jackson also punched a fan in order to defend Artest.

Artest's teammate, Jermaine O'Neal, also got into a confrontation alongside Artest with two other fans - that ended with both players throwing punches - as they proceeded to leave the floor. Several players were punished, but none more severely than Ron Artest who was suspended for the rest of the season (consisting of 86 games) and lost close to $5 million in salary.

4 Rodman Kicks Cameraman

via nydailynews.com

Dennis Rodman is one of the most talented NBA players of all-time, but he is also one of the most controversial. One of the worst moments of his NBA career came in 1997 during a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. After an aggressive attempt for a rebound, Rodman ended up in a scuffle with the local cameraman - during which Rodman administered a kick.

The result ended up in Rodman being suspended for 11 games and was fined $25,000. The entire incident was rumoured to have cost Rodman upwards of $1 million, including $200,000 to the cameraman. We're sure this photo of Rodman laughing at the injured cameraman is far from the league's favourite.

3 Tim Hardaway Releases Controversial Statement

via hoopfly.com

The above entry has less to do with a photo and more to do with a statement. Tim Hardway spent close to 2 decades in the NBA, but you aren't going to be left thinking about his talent after you hear his stance on homosexuals.

"You know, I hate gay people, so I let it be known. I don't like gay people and I don't like to be around gay people. I am homophobic. I don't like it. It shouldn't be in the world or in the United States," said Hardaway in 2007. Thankfully he has since worked hard to educate himself on LGBTQ issues, including being a voice of support for Jason Collins - the first openly gay NBA player - who revealed his orientation.

2 Greg Oden Photo Scandal

via si.com

Greg Oden is unfortunately known as one of the biggest disappointments in NBA history. But the things he may be ashamed about aren't just limited to what he failed to accomplish as a player. Oden made headlines in 2010 when leaked photos of him emerged online. “I’ve had better days … I got woken up at 6 am by a phone call to check it out … I saw them and my heart just dropped. It was a rough morning for me," said Oden when talking about the scandal that involved extremely revealing photos of him. His words serve as a reminder that just because Oden is a male, doesn't mean that being involved with scandals like this aren't incredibly embarrassing. Oden also revealed that he believes it was an ex-flame that leaked the photos.

1 Tim Donaghy Disgraces The Game

via nymag.com

Tim Donaghy may not be an NBA player, but as an NBA referee for over a decade he was part of some of the biggest games in the history of the sport. But Donaghy's life became unraveled when in 2008 he was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison for his involvement in betting on games that he was involved in.

The last thing the league wanted was to have people think the league is fixed. Tim has since come out on numerous occasions and inferred however that gambling is still something that is incredibly prevalent among NBA officials. So that may be another reason for you to be infuriated the next time your team loses a close one!
