LeBron James first met Savannah Brinson while they were attending high school in Akron, Ohio. However, Savannah’s high school was about two miles away from LeBron’s school and their schools were major rivals in the town.

The couple grew up in the same neighbourhood but didn’t meet until Savannah was a 16-years-old high school sophomore and LeBron a 17-year-old junior.

LeBron was a high school basketball superstar at the private Catholic school, St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. Savannah says she had no idea who LeBron was when she met him at a football game. At her school, Savannah was a softball player and a cheerleader. When LeBron spotted her, he knew he had to get to know her. A mutual friend helped LeBron get his phone number to Savannah and when she finally called him (out of boredom), he invited her to attend one of his basketball games. At the game, she was surprised to see how truly skilled LeBron was. During his high school career, LeBron was praised as one of the greatest high school basketball players in America. During an interview with Harper’s BAZAAR, Savannah expressed, “I went, and I was like, Wow, this guy is pretty popular in here.”

After attending one of LeBron’s basketball games, Savannah was immediately impressed and wanted to get to know him better. The two bonded over their athletic abilities and life motivations. After a few phone calls, they had their official first date. The budding couple had dinner at the local Outback Steakhouse. Savannah described their dinner conversation as just “basic,” and that it was what happened after the dinner that locked her into the relationship.

After taking her home, LeBron realized Savannah left her leftovers in his car. So, like a good gentleman, LeBron went back to her house to deliver the leftovers. After all, Outback isn’t exactly the cheapest dinner date. Savannah describes this as the moment she knew LeBron loved her. “I'd totally forgotten about them, and he brought them to me. I think he just wanted another excuse to come and see me.” Another speculation, though, could be that Savannah actually left her box on purpose, just so LeBron would come back. Either way, their relationship started really heating up after the first date and they soon became inseparable. In her interview with Harper’s BAZAAR, she stated, “I just thought he'd be a hometown hero for his era and it would be over.” Nope…

LeBron and Savannah were living on top of the world, high off LeBron’s local sport’s stardom. Just a couple of years after they started dating, LeBron was drafted into the NBA in 2003, as the first overall pick. At this time, Savannah, now a senior in high school, received one of life’s biggest bombshells. How could she top LeBron’s fantastic achievement? Well, she discovered she was pregnant with LeBron’s baby at just 17-years-old. Terrified, Savannah had no idea what to tell her parents and what LeBron would do since his career was just starting. LeBron wasn’t mad, though, he comforted her and encouraged her that life was not over for them just because she became pregnant.

He declared, “It’s not going to slow me down, and it’s not going to slow you down. We’re going to keep doing what we have to do.” Savannah received a lot of backlash over the pregnancy. Getting rid of the child was never an option for her, and people around town started saying she got herself pregnant on purpose to trap, rising star, LeBron into the relationship forever. That was definitely not her intentions, though, because who wants to be five-months pregnant at their senior prom?

It took LeBron James about a decade since he and Savannah first started dating to propose to her. Through a couple of pregnancies and a lot of drama, they stuck together, though. Before he proposed to her, it was always a question of when is it going to happen? But there was never really any doubt that one day he would marry Savannah Brinson. She always said he’d do it when he was ready, and she wasn’t going to try to rush him into anything he wasn’t ready for. Her biggest pet peeve was being referred to as LeBron’s baby momma just because she didn’t have that special ring.

The wait was finally over on January 1, 2012, at a New Year’s Eve party, where a very nervous LeBron got down on one knee and asked Savannah to be his wife.

Of course, she said yes. LeBron knew it was at last time to make Savannah his bride. As he grew, he came to the realization that she had been the woman by his side, completely there for him through the good and the bad times, and he wanted her to keep being there with him for the rest of their lives.

The ring is estimated to have cost around $300,000!

To keep such an important ring safe during the night, doubling as a New Year’s Eve party and his 27th birthday party, LeBron had his buddy and fellow NBA player Dwyane Wade hold onto the ring until he was ready to pop the question. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, LeBron explained he didn’t want Savannah accidentally bumping up against the ring’s box during the night and ruining the proposal. To prepare for the moment, LeBron talked it out with Wade and Chris Bosh, another NBA player. When LeBron was ready to retrieve the ring from Wade, Wade joked and asked if he was sure. LeBron admitted if he didn’t give him the ring in that moment to do it, he might never do it. LeBron got himself a very pretty fiancé that stunning night.

Savannah likes to keep her style choices focused on furniture. She’s designed her own children’s furniture line with LeBron’s help called Home Court by LeBron James with American Signature. In addition to LeBron James, Jr., Savannah and LeBron have another son named Bryce Maximus James who is ten-years-old, and a daughter named Zhuri James, who is three-years-old. LeBron and Savannah are two lucky parents, as all three of there kids appear to be doing wonderful in life and have their own mini fanbase. Zhuri Nova is arguably the most-spoiled of the bunch. When it comes raising their three children, LeBron James has handed the pants over to Savannah. In an interview with Vogue, LeBron states, “I'm gone a lot, so she is the boss of the household; she's the rule-setter. It's hard for me to go on the road for two and half weeks and then come home and tell my kids, 'Look, this is how it should be done' when she's been home every day." When LeBron was traded to the Miami Heat and moved to Florida, Savannah chose to stay for the most part in Ohio. She once exclaimed that Ohio will always be home. Savannah and the kids often went to visit LeBron in Miami, but she didn’t want to completely uproot the children from their school and friends. She admitted that Miami was not her favorite place to live.

At no point was Savannah sketchy about LeBron moving to a completely new state. She trusts him 100 percent and didn’t think he would ever cheat on her. Savannah’s mother, Jennifer Brinson, agreed with Savannah on the topic and stated, “If LeBron was going to do something shady, he can do that around the corner. He doesn't have to go to Miami.”

2 Crying LeBron

via qz.com

It’s no secret that LeBron James is a pretty emotional man when it comes to basketball and his family. In 2016, he openly cried full on tears after helping the Cleveland Cavaliers win their first-ever NBA Championship. During that game, he was unanimously voted as MVP, and he could no longer hold back the tears. Immediately, the internet pounced and a ton of “crying LeBron” memes were everywhere. In discussing his real emotions, LeBron declared, “Real men cry,” and went on to announce he cries when watching The Lion King and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’s sadder episodes.

In feeling guilty for everything he’s put his family through during his journey to success, he apologized to Savannah. A confused Savannah asked him what it was he was apologizing for. To which he replied, “Because the journey that I’m on to want to be the greatest to ever play this game… I’ve at times lost the fact of how important you are to this whole thing. I want you to understand that along this journey while I’m playing this game there will be times that I lose the fact of how important you and my three kids are - my babies are.”

The couple just recently purchased a $23 million mansion as a second home in Brentwood, CA.

Despite their unimaginable earnings, both Savannah and LeBron continuously give back to their community and work hard to instil financial morals in all their children. From a young age, LeBron learned how to save money effectively. Growing up, he and his mom didn’t have a lot of money to throw around, but this helped shaped him into who he is today. Savannah and LeBron recognize their children are starting life off at the top, rather than the bottom that they experienced. LeBron states, “I just listen to my head and I end up saying, ‘No, I don't need it. For what? I got everything I can want and more. There's nothing more that I can give myself that would make me happier than I am right now.’”
