NBA 2025: Predicting The Top 15 NBA Players Eight Years From Now

The NBA is going to look a whole lot different in the year 2025. This is what this article will be about. Players like LeBron James and Kevin Durant will no longer be the faces of the NBA eight seasons from now, as new players will be thriving as superstars while stars of today will be long past their prime. It is always fun to look into the future and project how the league will be years from now, and this is precisely what we will be doing in this article as a lot of young talent is in the league today, and more prospects are primed to enter the NBA.

In this article, we will be predicting the top 15 players in the NBA in the year 2025. This is eight seasons from now, which means this list can comprise of guys still in the league, college stars, and possibly even players still in high-school. Looking at things such as age, potential, and talent, these will be the stars of the league in 2025.

As always, feel free to leave any other players you believe will be a star in 2025, as we would love to hear your thoughts on this exciting matter.

Here are our predictions for the top 15 NBA players in the year 2025.

15 Malik Monk

Thomas Joseph-USA TODAY Sports

Malik Monk is primed to have an excellent NBA career. The scorer from Kentucky will very likely be taken with a top 10 draft pick in this year's draft, and will hit the ground running as he is a great shooter with explosive athleticism to match. Monk had a few eye-opening games for Kentucky this season as he showed he can put up points in a hurry, even going for 47 points in a game this NCAA season which is really something special.

In the year 2025, Monk will be 27 years old, and could easily be averaging around 25 points per game. He'll be in his prime. There's no doubt in my mind Monk will be a top 15 player in the league in the year 2025.

14 Kyrie Irving

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

Kyrie Irving is already an NBA champion, and at only 24 years of age, Irving still has a lot of time in the league to cement himself as an NBA great. In the year 2025, Irving will be 32 years old, which means he will most likely be past his prime but still be effective enough to be a top player in the league. His teammate LeBron James is 32 years old and is arguably the best player in the world, so Irving could still definitely be a superstar in the league a few years over 30.

Irving already has an impressive resume in the league, and at 32 years old, he could be a walking legend to other players in the NBA. He'll likely be the top dog in Cleveland by that time too, as LeBron will be 40 and likely retired, or on his last legs.

13 Lonzo Ball

Richard Mackson-USA TODAY Sports

No I don't think Lonzo Ball will ever be the most dominant player in the league like his father LaVar says he will be, but he does have all the tools to be a great player in the association. Ball will be in the prime of his career when 2025 rolls around, as he will be 27 years old and putting up solid numbers with whatever team he is playing with. The hype is very high for Lonzo, and while he will be most likely a great player in the league, he doesn't have the athleticism or that "it" factor guys like LeBron James and Russell Westbrook have of today's game. While Ball will be a solid player, Ball will fall around the 13th best player in the league in 2025.

12 D'Angelo Russell

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

D'Angelo Russell's NBA career has been anything but perfect since entering the league two seasons ago, as he has still struggled to be effective and had off the court problems with getting his teammate into trouble with his girl. Russell however still has a lot of time to grow, and watching him play you can see Russell could be a great player in this league and has had some head-turning games as he even scored 40 points against the Cavaliers this season.

Russell is a excellent shooter and has a nice touch around the rim that could mean him being one of the league's highest volume scorers. In the year 2025, Russell will be one of the best offensive players on the planet. He'll likely have the Lakers as perennial NBA Championship contenders once again.

11 Andrew Wiggins

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Andrew Wiggins is one of the Timberwolves' best young pieces, as he is a lengthy wing scorer who will be a great scorer in this league for years to come. Wiggins is only 22 years old, and already has three very solid seasons to his name, as he has built on each of his seasons getting better and better with each passing year. From his rookie season to the end of this year, Wiggins averaged 17, 20, and now 23 points per game as he continues to get better.

The problem with Wiggins is that he doesn't do much other than score the basketball, but hey, that's what there paying him to do in Minnesota. Wiggins will be 30 years old in the year 2025, and will still be one of the best players in the league as he hopefully can be able to rely more on his shooting than his athleticism.

10 Kristaps Porzingis

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

It's funny to think that when Kristaps was drafted with the 4th pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, New York fans booed him like crazy. Now, he is the most popular player on the Knicks roster, and definitely has the most potential as he is still very young and has room to grow and improve his game. Porzingis is a 7-footer who can shoot the lights out but still can rebound and block shots with the best of them. In the year 2025, Kristaps will be the king of New York (assuming the Knicks lock him up to a long-term deal) and at 29 years of age, will most likely be a top 10 player in the league. He hasn't been able to show all his true talent yet due to being surrounded by guys like Carmelo and Derrick Rose, but his time to dominant will come very soon.

9 Joel Embiid

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

If it wasn't for injuries, I would have no problem putting Joel Embiid in the top 3 of this article, however I sadly believe his career will be riddled with nagging and possibly more serious injuries, that won't allow him to see his full potential. Embiid had a stellar rookie season which was cut short due to a meniscus tear in his knee, but fans of the league were enthralled with his play as in a short time he was able to solidify himself as one of the best big men in the league.

He will be 31 years old in the year 2025, and I think his best days will be over at this point, and while he may not be playing as many games as people would want him too, he still will be able to put up 20 and 10 numbers in 2025, making him still one of the best players in the league.

8 Marvin Bagley III.

via scout.com

If you don't know the name Marvin Bagley III., you will soon. He is the most hyped and talented high-school baller in the country, as he is being compared to both Kevin Durant and Kevin Garnett, as he is a smooth shooter but can also bang down low and get buckets in the paint. He is 6'11" and 210 pounds, and is primed to possibly be one of the best players in the history of the NBA. He just turned 18 years old, and has been recruited by every major college in the country as scouts are just drooling over his skill and potential. Bagley will be one of the best players in the league in 2025, possibly even landing higher than we have him on this list here.

7 Devin Booker

Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

Devin Booker will be one of the best shooters in the history of the NBA when it is all said and done. Still one of the youngest players in the league, Devin Booker is already considered one of the best scorers in the NBA due to his ability to get hot fast and put up big numbers. You have probably heard of his 70 point game against the Celtics he had this season, which is just incredible as he is still only 20 years old. Michael Jordan's highest scoring game was 69 points, so the fact Booker surpassed that at 20 is something special. I have no doubt in my mind Booker will be one of the league's best in the year 2025. The only question is whether Booker will be having all this success with the Suns or if he will have moved on by the time 2025 rolls around.

6 Michael Porter Jr.

via si.com

Another player who still hasn't played a college game yet, Michael Porter Jr. could be the face of the league eight seasons from now. He is committed to the University of Missouri as all eyes will be on him during the NCAA season next year. He is 6'10", but runs the floor like a guard and can rise over defenders and knock down a jumper from anywhere on the court.

Drawing comparisons to guys like Paul George, Kevin Durant, and even LeBron James when it comes to scoring, Michael Porter Jr. will be one of the best players in the league when 2025 comes around, as he will be 26 years old and enjoying the prime of his career. You'll know all about him soon enough.

5 Nikola Jokic

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

Nikola Jokic is a talent we may have never seen in the NBA before, as the center from Serbia is one of the best players in the league at only 22 years old. He was drafted with the 41st pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, which turned out to be an absolute steal for the Nuggets as Jokic is going to have an NBA career to remember. He put up a handful of triple-doubles this season as he has all the tools needed to be the best player in the league, as he can score, rebound, and has passing abilities unlike we have ever seen at the center position. Get used to hearing Nikola Jokic's name a lot, as he is going to be a star in this league for years and years to come.

4 Karl-Anthony Towns

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Karl-Anthony Towns is one of the most promising and talented young players in the league right now. The center from Kentucky won the Rookie of the Year award last year as he averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds per game. He built on his excellent rookie season this year with an average of 25 points per game and 12 rebounds, as he improved his game a lot. Towns will be 29 years old in the 2025 NBA season, and will be on the back-end of his prime as he will still be putting up very impressive numbers. Timberwolves fans are hoping he and Wiggins have a few championships to their name at this point, as the future is finally looking very bright for Minnesota.

3 Markelle Fultz

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

This may be a stretch considering Fultz hasn't played an NBA game yet, however the guy has talents unrivaled by his fellow rookies coming into the league with him next season. Whoever gets to land Markelle Fultz with the 1st pick in the 2017 NBA Draft is going to be getting one of the league's next superstars. Fultz had an excellent college season as he averaged about 23 points per game, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. Fultz is 18 years old right now, which means he will be 26 years old in the 2025 NBA season. Playing in the prime of his career, Fultz could be a 25 points and 8 to maybe even 10 assist per game guy, as he can control an offense and demolish his opponents with his talents. Fultz is going to be the league's next best point-guard, and will for sure be a top 3 player in the league in the 2025 NBA season.

2 Giannis Antetokounmpo

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Giannis Antetokounmpo will be the best player in the league soon, and will still be one of the NBA's best talents in 2025, even at 30 years of age. Giannis "The Greek Freak" literally is a freak of nature as he is pretty much a 7 footer who is doing it all on the court for the Bucks. Whether it be scoring, passing, or rebounding, I am sure Giannis will end his career as one of the best players of all-time, as he really could be the talent of this generation. Giannis had a breakout season this year as he led the Bucks in all major statistical categories, and he even got to start on the Eastern all-star team along the likes of guys like LeBron James. The Bucks were eliminated in the first round the playoffs by the Raptors, but I am sure Giannis will be back and better than ever as he will only continue to get better.

1 Ben Simmons

Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

Ben Simmons will be the best player in the league in the year 2025. Ben Simmons is primed to have one of the greatest NBA careers of all-time, as he has a set of skills that guys just don't have being 6'11"(he has grown since being drafted) and 240 pounds. With the body of a center, Simmons is not just limited to scoring down low and grabbing rebounds. I'm telling you, Ben Simmons is going to be the next LeBron James due to the fact he can do it all on the court and is going to dominant his opponents for years and years to come. I can see Simmons being the next player to average a triple-double, as he really is a special talent. He will be 28 years old in the year 2025, and will already be considered one of the league's greatest of all-time.
