15 NBA Stars Who Really Hit The Relationship Jackpot

The 2018 NBA Playoffs are just around the corner and what better way to dive into the league's playoff picture than to check out some steamy photos of basketball WAGs? Of course, not all the NBA stars mentioned in this list are actually stars at this very moment. Some are seasoned veterans who have made their way to the top at least a decade ago and maybe even more than that. Either way, they're familiar faces who have enjoyed illustrious success in their personal lives with their beautiful wives and girlfriends. This just goes to show that a professional basketball player can still grab the attention a far more attractive woman even if he hasn't won a championship ring with his team yet.

There are some eye-popping WAGs in all pro sports leagues, but to be completely honest, basketball WAGs deserve a little more credit. Sure, there are some pretty girls who are reality television stars on the cast of "WAGS" on E!, but not all of them are like that. There are plenty of gorgeous gals who are independent with careers of their own, so just keep that in mind the next time you think that all basketball WAGs are the same. From "Sleepless" actress Gabrielle Union to "Revenge Body" host Khloe Kardashian, we're sure that you're going to recognize at least a couple of these well-known names that are often brought up in the mainstream media.

Here are 15 NBA stars who are way out of their WAG's league.

15 Boban Marjanovic (Milica Krstic)

via blic.com

Boban Marjanovic is truly a Serbian big man. Standing at 7-foot-3 and weighing 290 lbs, Marjanovic's height and weight would appear to be desirable in regards to a male athlete, but he's far from one of the most attractive guys in the world as he has never seemed to be photogenic while getting his picture taken.

So yeah, Marjanovic and his wife, Milica Krstic, resemble the main characters in the "Beauty and the Beast."

The couple truly loved their time in San Antonio, where Boban played before landing in Detroit.

Following their departure from Texas, Krstic said: "What really made our stay special are the people," she said. "Everyone accepted us, it was great, we felt so welcome and at home.

"I can not even find the words to describe how much we appreciate everyone from the Spurs organization," she continued. "We are grateful for the wonderful memories that we made and for friendships that will not end!"

Marjanovic had great offensive numbers, but the Detroit Pistons barely used him when he was in the Motor City from 2016-18. Hopefully, Marjanovic will find more success with the Los Angeles Clippers after he scored a season-high 18 points in the Clippers' 122-120 win over the Denver Nuggets on February 27, 2018. But in the meantime, Marjanovic is pretty much known as that odd basketball player who somehow managed to land a good-looking woman because of other reasons not related to looks.

14 Pau Gasol (Catherine McDonnell)

via donbalonrosa.defensacentral.com

The San Antonio Spurs made the NBA playoffs for the 21st year in a row! The Spurs are a team that's chock full of decorated veterans and Pau Gasol is one of those veterans. The former third round pick of the 2001 NBA Draft has a well-crafted resume featuring two NBA titles (2009, 2010), six NBA All-Star titles (2006, 2009-2011, 2015, 2016), three Olympic medals (one silver, two bronze) and so much more! Just check out his Wikipedia page when you get the chance to do so.

Let's also not forget that Gasol has a pretty girlfriend of Catherine McDonnell. The couple first came forward with their relationship back in 2016, when Gasol posted on Instagram regarding a vacation to Mexico he has just taken with the lovely McDonnell. The post read:

We've enjoyed an incredible weekend with my girlfriend in Mexico! #Happy #LoveHe disfrutado de un fin de semana increíble con mi novia en México! #Feliz#Amor

It seems like the couple prefers to keep a low profile, but we do know that McDonnell is a graduate of the University of Southern California and currently serves as the vice president of the Guggenheim Partners. McDonnell has dabbled into sports reporting in her early career, and we can see why, but she probably can do a great job in whatever field's best for her.

13 Ben Simmons (Tinashe)

via rap-up.com

Okay, Ben Simmons isn't a bad looking guy or anything like the alleged man in the State Farm commercials, but he's certainly not one of the most handsome men in the world either.

In case you didn't know, Simmons is the Philadelphia 76ers' rookie sensation and he could be an NBA champion if his team continues to take things to the next level after entering the postseason with a whopping 16-game winning streak.

Besides his dominating rookie campaign, Simmons has also been dominating off the court with his girlfriend Tinashe, who's a singer and actress.

The couple didn't jump from zero to 360 though. The low-key couple dropped hints to their Instagram followers over a period of time before making their relationship Instagram official with two snaps at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Oh yeah, and Simmons appropriately captioned the photos with "This is a dime I can't pass." Yeah, Simmons can't pass on a seemingly independent woman like Tinashe.

The couple first came forward with their relationship in March and Tinashe appropriately used the word "process": "It’s exciting when you really like somebody and you don’t wanna keep it a secret, secret," she explained. "So it’s been fun. It’s been interesting. It’s a learning process. I’m still getting used to it."

12 Andrew Wiggins (Alex Reid)

via fabwags.com

Andrew Wiggins made history when he became the second Canadian-born player to be taken first overall in an NBA Draft. As you should already know, Wiggins was drafted with the No. 1 pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves at the 2014 NBA Draft. Wiggins is part of a developing Timberwolves team who will face the red-hot Houston Rockets in the first round of the 2018 NBA Playoffs.

Even though the T-wolves came up short this postseason, Wiggins is still going to be a winner as he reportedly has a beautiful girlfriend of Alex Reid, a singer-songwriter who's currently living in Los Angeles, California.

Wiggins and her have kept their relationship out of the spotlight for the most part, which isn't a bad thing, considering all the distractions a high profile couple can bring to a team. Just look at Blake Griffin earlier this season in L.A. with Kendall Jenner.

Reid also works as a part-time model who has appeared in print advertisements for popular brands like Adidas, Heineken and Rocawear. It's safe to say that Reid has her own talents and isn't the average basketball WAG who lives off her man. Just keep doing your thing and remember not to settle for less, girl!

11 Iman Shumpert (Teyana Taylor)

via cavsnation.com

No athlete wants to hear the negative term "injury prone," but it's like a badge of honor for Iman Shumpert, who has been bitten by the injury bug when he was with the New York Knicks from 2011-2015 and the 2016 NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers from 2015-2018. Shumpert, however, is reportedly sprinting on the comeback trail to return to full-strength, but it might take some time.

Right now, Shumpert plays for the Sacramento Kings, who acquired the shooting guard in a three-team trade that also involved the Utah Jazz. Shumpert played in just 14 games for the Kings and will look to get healthy during the 2018 offseason. In the meantime, Shumpert stars in a reality TV show aptly titled "Teyana and Iman" on VH1 with his wife, Teyana Taylor, a single and actress. Taylor's a hot mama of one as she gave birth to the couple's daughter, Iman Tayla Shumpert, Jr., in 2015. Taylor also looks like the type who would be there for her family, which is a good thing.

There were recently rumors that the couple was on the outs, but Taylor denied the rumors and did so in just about the most hilarious way possible.

10 Tristan Thompson (Khloe Kardashian)

Not only is Cleveland Cavaliers player Tristan Thompson the center of attention when it comes to awful contracts and nagging injuries, he's also a large chunk of a cheating scandal right now as his reality TV star girlfriend, Khloe Kardashian, gave birth to their daughter on April 12, 2018.

These shady headlines are a bit hard to believe since Thompson isn't the most handsome man in the league, but he does have a net worth of $8 million. Of course, Thompson's income doesn't stack up to Kardashian, who's worth $20 million, but he still has some money to blow. Still, you can't help but notice Kardashian in the couple's photos on social media as she's a stunning mama with beach blonde tresses and a fit, toned body that can rock any outfit from a body con dress to an active, casual sweatsuit.

So yeah, Kardashian—like her sisters—definitely excels in the looks department. All the recent allegations aside regarding Thompson, he should really count his blessings being with Khloe, as she's a stunning woman and he now has a baby with her. We'll probably be given way more headlines as the weeks go on regarding where they stand as a couple now.

9 Gordon Hayward (Robyn Hayward)

It's sort of a shame that Gordon Hayward isn't a member of the 2018 Utah Jazz roster, who somehow became one of the hottest teams in NBA after losing their star forward, but at least he's part of a postseason Boston Celtics team...just as a face of a constantly injured player.

The Celtics certainly have a chip on their shoulder with a wrenched version of Gordon, but we can tell you that Gordon can give his wife, Robyn, more reasons to love him without the on-the-field consistency and off-the-field riches.

As you can see in this caption, Robyn wrote that every girl deserves someone who loves them like Gordon loves him because he's truly the best.

We can also tell you that Robyn's good looks were one of the reasons why he supposedly treats her like a queen. Just look at the brunette beauty who still look good for a female who gave birth to their two kids.

Hayward certainly didn't waste any time in tying the knot with Robyn, as the two were reportedly engaged after just five months of dating. While that may seem quick for some people, sometimes when you know, you just know. Congratulations are in order here.

8 DeAndre Jordan (Amber Alvarez)

via heavy.com

Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan doesn't have a wife, but a model girlfriend of Amber Alvarez instead. This is perfectly fine as Jordan is a father to his son Jaden, whom he fathered with his baby mama Ashley Rose White.

Alvarez first stepped out with Jordan at the 2014 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle premiere and she looked like an absolutely stunner with brunette hair classically dressed in a black tube top and matching pants while holding a dark clutch. In case you didn't already know, Alvarez is a model who stands at 5-foot-8.5 and started her modeling career in Dallas, Texas, before moving to Los Angeles, California, to sign with L.A. Models.

Not much is known about the seemingly low-key couple, but we do hope that Jordan will make an additional effort to keep Alvarez around because she's a very pretty Latina who can make just about any man smile. Being that Amber's based in L.A, we wonder how that'll affect DeAndre Jordan's future with the Clippers. Does he want to stick around with a team seemingly heading for a rebuild, or does he want to pack his things and take his girlfriend elsewhere. Perhaps a return to her native Dallas?

7 Carmelo Anthony (LaLa Vasquez)

A post shared by Carmelo Anthony (@carmeloanthony) on

Carmelo Anthony (small forward) was once the promising face of an ill-fated New York Knicks team, but he's no longer in the Big Apple. Melo was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Enes Kanter, Doug McDermott and a 2018 second-round pick on September 25, 2017.

Melo was also a positive inspiration until some allegations surfaced against Melo. That placed a strain on the power couple's marriage, but they continue to spend time with their 11-year-old son Kiyan, who has already been learning to play basketball like his father.

While the couple is going through a tough time, LaLa has stayed classy through the whole ordeal:

'You know, marriages are tough. You know that. We all know that,' the 38-year-old actress said on The Wendy Williams Show.

'It's filled with ups and downs. We're going through a time right now, but him and I are the best of friends. And our number one commitment is to our [10-year-old] son, Kiyan. We have to set an example for Kiyan.

Hopefully, Melo will continue to patch things up with LaLa because who in the right mind would leave a gorgeous, independent woman who graduated from college and worked as a TV personality, New York Times best-selling author and businesswoman after graduation for a random, one-night stand?

6 Lonzo Ball (Denise Garcia)

A post shared by Denise Garcia (@dmoney0414) on

As you should already know, Lonzo Ball is a Los Angeles Lakers rookie point guard and the eldest son of the outspoken basketball dad LaVar Ball. Lonzo has already been making splashes with the Lakers, but LaVar wants all three of his sons to play for the Lakers or else he'll have Lonzo walk away from the real L.A. team as a free agent when eligible. Well, then.

Lonzo's longtime girlfriend, Denise Garcia, is a former Division I soccer player who has played for Seattle University and the University of California, Riverside.

Garcia is currently pregnant with the couple's first child, who's expected to arrive in late 2018. So, Lonzo isn't only a big deal when it comes to his father's "Big Baller Brand," but also in the personal life headlines as a soon-to-be father with a complete dime of a girlfriend who's actually his high school sweetheart and not a superficial groupie he met in the club.

As for the Big Baller Brand's architect, LaVar seemed happy for his son:

"I like Denise. Her and Zo got they thing going, which is good,” he says. “It’s something special, so they’re just gonna grow.

“I think the Lord sets up things the right way, and sometimes it may not be a clear vision on this end, but in the long run, it’s a better vision.”

5 Scottie Pippen (Larsa Pippen)

via etonline.com

Former Chicago Bulls player Scottie Pippen was best known for the fact he set the stage of one of the greatest dynasties in basketball. Of course, the popularization of basketball around the world wouldn't have happened without Michael Jordan, who also won six NBA championships (1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998).

Scottie has also been dominating off the court with his wife of 20 years, Larsa Pippen (nee Younan), and their four children (Sophia, Justin, Preston, Scottie Jr.). Although his marriage to his wife hasn't been perfect, as the couple filed for divorce in 2016 but called things off the following year, according to TMZ. It was unclear why the couple changed their minds, but the fact is, Pippen's still with his beautiful wife and that's pretty much all that matters.

Larsa is an American of Lebanese and Syrian descent from Chicago, Illinois. She used to be a member of the original cast of Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Miami." She's also close friends with reality TV star, Kourtney Kardashian, who has bankrolled her during her initial divorce proceedings. Moreover, it shouldn't be a surprise that the pair are friends because they're both veteran brunette beauties who can rock just about any outfit.

4 Michael Jordan (Yvette Prieto)

via revistacristina.com

Speaking of the Chicago Bulls' dynasty in the 1990s, Michael Jordan was the main part of the glorious decade. Sorry, Scottie Pippen.

The Basketball Hall of Famer obviously has a thing for Latinas. MJ's first wife, Juanita Vanoy, is a former model and secretary for the ABA (American Bar Association). The couple ended their marriage of 17 years in 2006 and it turned out to be the largest celebrity divorce at the time as Vanoy received a $168 million settlement.

Since his split from Juanita Vanoy, MJ has met and married Cuban model, Yvette Prieto, who has starred in a TV documentary called "Cuba: An Island Apart."

After his marriage to Vanoy was widely publicized, Jordan has been able to keep his second marriage largely private, or at least as private as someone as famous as Michael Jordan can be.

The couple have a set of twin daughters (Victoria, Ysabel) together. Prieto is also a stepmother to MJ's kids (Jeffrey, Marcus, Jasmine) from his previous marriage to Vanoy. That's a lot of kids for Prieto to handle, but we're well aware that she's not only talented, but also a Latin beauty who can heat up the dance floor. They did in fact, meet in a nightclub.

3 Dwyane Wade (Gabrielle Union)

Dwyane Wade's first name was unusually spelled by his mother, who certainly had her share of problems on the streets of the South Side of Chicago. He later moved in with his father and turned to basketball and football to avoid falling into the trap of drugs and gang-related activities. He also idolized NBA great Michael Jordan as a kid who just happened to be a Chicago native.

Wade has certainly been through a lot in his early life. This could be one of the many reasons why he fell for an older woman in veteran actress Gabrielle Union, who's nine years his senior, after his messy divorce with his high school sweetheart Siohvaughn Funches and alleged "break baby" with his longtime friend Aja Metoyer.

Wade, however, was extremely fortunate to court and tie the knot with Union. While the two have had their share of problems, they've made their marriage work. In an interview with ET, Wade said: Well, it’s definitely not the easiest thing in the world," the 36-year-old Heat legend. "I think the biggest thing with me and my wife—what we’ve always tried to do in our short period of time, especially being married—is just to stay in constant communication with each other, try to support each other in everything. And it’s tough at times.

2 Al Horford (Amelia Vega)

via empireboobookitty.com

The island nation of the Dominican Republic produces a lot of attractive people and Amelia Vega, Dominican beauty queen and wife of fellow D.R. native Al Horford, is one of those eye-turners.

In case you forgot, Vega was named Miss Dominican Republic 2002 and was then crowned Miss Universe 2003, becoming the youngest woman to win Miss Universe since Sushmita San in 1994.

Horford, on the other hand, was a starting center on the 2006 and 2007 Florida Gators men's basketball teams that won back-to-back championships. While Horford's NBA career has been on and off so far, he at least has been a consistent winner who has been married to a stunning Dominican lady since 2011. In fact, the couple are now expecting their third child. In an Instagram post, Vega wrote to her husband:

'I thank God for us because I don’t believe in coincidences but in God’s will. Thank you for being the man that you are, the best husband I could have chosen, an exemplary father. Thank you for being you!'

'Thank you for the most beautiful and valuable gift you could have given me in these years: our children,' she added.

Not a lot is known about Vega, as it seems her fame as winded down since her pageant days. At the same time, that can be a good thing, if in fact Vega is adjusting to a more simple life. Horford indeed hit the love jackpot.

1 J.J. Barea (Viviana Ortiz)

Happy Valentine’s Day Te amo 😍🍾💏🌹❤️🇵🇷

A post shared by jose barea (@jjbarea11) on

J.J. Barea is far from a household name, but he ought to be applauded for having a beautiful wife named Viviana Ortiz, an actress and former Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2011, with whom he has a daughter named Paulina with.

Barea is a decent looking man and a back-up point guard at most, but his off-court success has definitely completed him.

Barea has had one of the more shocking NBA careers, where he has played 12 seasons and won a championship with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011, despite standing at a rather short 5-foot-10. Barea has served as a head coach for Indios de Mayaguez of the BSN (Baloncesto Superior Nacional) since 2017. We wish him continued success in his work and personal life because he has many things going in his favor.

So how did the couple first get together? It was something as simple as Barea texting her casually after meeting at several celebrity events in Puerto Rico: "Text message," said Barea, who made sure not to leave those events without getting her contact info. "I sent her a message to say hi, something simple like hope you're doing good."

Obviously, the 15 couples we've detailed on this list have found happiness with each other and it goes to show that sometimes, it's really impossible to decipher how certain people can find love.
