In 2005, the NBA introduced a dress code. The dress code was put in place to help clean up the NBA's image. The dress code made it mandatory for players to wear a jacket and a tie before games, after games, during interviews, on the bench while injured and in attendance at league charity events. At that time, the dress code irritated the players but as time went on, it became easier as the players adjusted and started to embrace it.
Over the years, players have taken to the dress code and have started to dress up in places other than the NBA mandated areas.
