Before taking time away from WWE programming to deal with a shoulder injury, former Raw Women's Champion Becky Lynch was turned back into a babyface.

Though she received plenty of crowd support anyway, Lynch was made a heel when she returned as a heel at SummerSlam 2021 a year ago. Lynch defeated Bianca Belair quickly to become the new SmackDown Women's Champion, and she remained a title holder (Lynch and Flaired swapped championship belts after the draft) until WrestleMania 38.

At WrestleMania, Lynch lost the Raw Women's Championship to The EST of WWE. Belair defeated Lynch in a rematch at SummerSlam, but the latter switched back to face by siding with Belair during a confrontation with the stable of Bayley, Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky.

During an interview on "Out of Character with Ryan Satin" (h/t WrestlingNews.co), Lynch explained that she wasn't surprised about turning face again. Triple H, the new Head of Talent Relations as well as the leader of WWE creative, talked to her about wanting to make the change.

"No (not surprised about the babyface turn), because I had talked to Hunter a little bit before and he was like, 'How do you feel about being a heel?' and I was like, 'Honestly, it's fun I like it. I feel like I'm maybe more naturally inclined to be a babyface. I think people like me better as a babyface. So, he was like, 'I feel like we are swimming upstream keeping you as a heel.' Yeah, I agree and so then the creative was laid out and I was like, 'Yeah, that sounds awesome.'"

Lynch was attacked by the new faction on the post-SummerSlam edition of Raw. This was done as a way to write her off of television while Lynch recovers from a legitimate shoulder injury.

Another Drastic Change Under Triple H

Triple H took over as the new leader of WWE creative and talent relations following Vince McMahon's retirement nearly two months ago, and Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan were named the new co-CEOs of WWE. Under Triple H's guidance, there has been a giant change in the general product which has led to a considerable increase in Raw's ratings.

The call to turn Lynch back into a face is just one of many drastic changes under Triple H. The Game has also brought back several previously released talents in Kai, Karrion Kross, Scarlett Bordeaux, Hit Row, Dexter Lumis and most recently Braun Strowman. Johnny Gargano, who left following the expiration of his contract last December, also re-signed with the company and returned on the Aug. 22 edition of Raw.
