WWE's annual Summerslam PPV took place last Saturday night in Nashville, Tennessee. The show was seen by fans as a smashing success and a promising start to WWE's new direction without Vince McMahon at the helm.

This was a very notable match, since it was one year ago at Summerslam that Becky Lynch returned to the WWE and robbed Bianca of her Smackdown Women's Champion. The match was the final step of Bianca Belair's redemption journey, and it ended up being Becky's moment of redemption, too.

Becky Lynch at WWE SummerSlam

According to Wade Keller of PWTorch, the original plan for Becky Lynch going into Summerslam was for her to remain a heel. However, now that Triple H is the head of WWE's creative team, plans changed for the former champion.

Keller's report states that had it not been for Vince McMahon's exit, Becky would still be a heel. Instead, she is set to be one of Raw's top babyfaces alongside her former rival, Bianca.

Becky turning face is undoubtedly the right choice, especially now that Bayley has returned with a new heel stable by her side. Additionally, Becky Lynch will undoubtedly be a fan-favorite at WWE's Clash at the Castle PPV in Cardiff, and turning her face before the show will allow her to feel the love as much as possible. Becky's last run as a babyface saw her reach unprecedented levels of influence and popularity for women in the WWE. Hopefully she'll be able to recapture that magic with this next run.
