The NBC family sitcom, Young Rock premiered their season 3 finale, on Friday, February 24th. The hit comedy of The Rock coming to age has been a television success for NBC. The story of Dwayne Johnson is told from three different timelines. First we see kid version of Rock from the mid 1980s growing up in Hawaii. Next, we get teenage Rock and the ups and downs that Johnson and his family encountered in the late 1980s. Finally, we meet young adult Rock. This version of the timeline ran through college in Miami and a failed Canadian Football experience in the first two seasons. In season three, young adult Rock tries his hand at professional wrestling.

Dwayne Johnson is one of the most marketable and successful men in Hollywood. Johnson has a way of finding success in everything he does. His movies are blockbusters on the big screen, his professional wrestling appearances are WrestleMania worthy and as we are seeing with Young Rock is story is transcendent to all audiences. Now we wait and see if Johnson can also turn the XFL productive. Before we do that, lets look at some of the highlights of Season Three of Young Rock.

10 Chad Frost Controversy

In episode 8, the year is 1998 and Young Rock has turned heel and joined the Nation of Domination. Backstage the episode reveals Rock being social with the characters of Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, Mankind, Bret Hart, Faarooq and a wrestler by the name of Chad Frost. While Young Rock takes some creative liberties with history, they have stuck to WWE cannon when involving gimmicks. Yet, no professional wrestling fan knows Chad Frost. Moreover, Frost is advertised as a WWE main event talent in 1998. The Chad Frost character bad mouths Rock to the boss, Vince McMahon and fans are left to wonder who did that. With conspiracy theorist noting that the one main event star that hasn't debuted on Young Rock would be the D-Generation X leader, Shawn Michaels.

9 Saturday Night Live Success

In the season finale episode 13 of Young Rock fans see the success that Dwayne Johnson finds by hosting Saturday Night Live. In previous episodes, the acting bug has bitten Johnson, but his roles have all been similar to the character he played in WWE. Yet, with SNL, young adult Rock gets to show off his charm, wit and comedic ability. Giving the world a small glimpse of the mega star he would become. We even see young Rock reenact his famous role with Chris Kattan, Mr. Peepers and Papa Peepers. That sketch would lead to Dwayne Johnson being the biggest crossover successes professional wrestling has ever witnessed. The SNL and Johnson combination became one of the most unforgettable wrestling crossovers of all time for any Rock fan. The rocket ship was now launched to Dwayne Johnson's career.

8 Christmas Episode

Episode 6 of Season 3 of Young Rock is a special Christmas episode. In this episode, fans are given 3 different timelines of Dwayne Johnson experiencing Christmas. In the young adult Rock timeline, Johnson goes to Mick Foley's Christmas Party. Foley has a reputation backstage of giving great Christmas gifts and loving the holiday. Johnson wants to really impress Foley and give him a gift that steals the show at the Christmas Party. Johnson gets Foley a weekend trip to the Bahamas. Foley is unamused by the expensive gift and even tells Rock he's busy that weekend. Eventually, Rock trades Foley's gift with Triple H and tries to understand Foley's love for Christmas. Foley invites Rock to deliver presents to underprivileged kids to see the true meaning of Christmas. Rock dresses up as the Grinch and Mick Foley dresses as Santa Claus.

7 Struggling With Fame

In Episode 5 of Young Rock, we see Dwayne Johnson struggle with the price of fame. With his professional wrestling career starting to take off, Johnson takes his then wife, Dany to dinner. During the dinner, fans approach Johnson for his autograph. Johnson gives the fans the autograph, but does so with a very negative attitude. His attitude has wrecked the fans' dinner and brought Johnson to an important crossroads with fame. Johnson realized how he treated people mattered. These were the same fans that were cheering or booing him at WWE events. Therefore, Johnson buys the fans their meal and goes and takes pictures with them to cheer them up and make up for his obvious negativity.

6 The Rock And Triple H Go Heavy

SummerSlam 1998 takes place in Young Rock episode 8. During this event, Rock would battle Triple H. The crowd is on fire for the match and when it's time for the wrestlers to take the match home (finish it), Rock disagrees and tells Triple H to trust him. The two superstars' match doesn't end when it is scheduled, as Rock feels the passion coming from the fans and knows he and Triple H can continue to build the story in the ring. With Triple H's trust, the two performers deliver a show stealing match at SummerSlam that fans erupt for. In the back, Rock earns Vince McMahon's trust.

5 High Chief And James Bond

Many casual fans of WWE's Golden Age know Dwayne Johnson's father, Rocky Johnson, but aren't as familiar with his grandfather, the High Chief Peter Maivia. Maivia was the lead in episode 10 of Young Rock. In this flashback episode, Maivia plays a henchman in the James Bond Film You Only Live Twice.

Maivia befriends Sean Connery and teaches 007 how to stage a fight. This episode foreshadows Dwayne Johnson heading into his grandfathers footsteps, not just in the world of professional wrestling but in Hollywood as well. We see flashes of Peter Maivia in the third generation superstar, Dwayne The Rock Johnson (formerly Rocky Maivia).

4 Stuck In Chi Chis

In episode 4 of Young Rock, teenage Rock suspects his dad, Rocky Johnson of bad behavior. Teenage Rock sees his family struggling to pay rent and the toll that stress takes on his mother. He also notices his dad coming home early in the morning and suspects him of wild behavior all night long. When he confronts his dad, he finds out Rocky Johnson, the former WWE tag team champion, is performing janitorial work at a local Chi Chis. Rocky Johnson is humbled to find out his son didn't look up to him anymore, yet the episode provides a healing for the father and son.

3 Tribute Show

Young Rock's season 3, episode 12 was one of the highlights of the entire series. In this episode Polynesian Pacific Wrestling is hosting the first Peter Maivia Tribute Show. The original plan of the show is to have Bad News Allen (Brown in WWE) win the Heavyweight title from head booker, Lars Anderson.

Always getting in the way of young Rock's immediate family and their wrestling plans. As booker, Anderson decided to change the finish in the middle of the show and have him hold the title at the end of the Tribute Show. Teenage Rock was furious at this, and tried to attack Lars Anderson in the locker room.

2 Becky Lynch As Cyndi Lauper

In a brilliant crossover move, Becky Lynch was cast as rock star, Cyndi Lauper, in two episodes (1 & 12) of season three. Lynch absolutely knocked it out of the park as the '80s pop star and WrestleMania 1 queen. Lynch's strong Irish accent was replaced by the famed New York accent of Cyndi Lauper. In episode 1, Lynch is playing Lauper right after the recent WrestleMania 1 success. In episode 12, Lauper is a surprise National Anthem performer for Polynesian Pro Wrestling some time later. In both episodes, Lynch showed the ability to be a main stream media star.

1 Rock Buys His Family A House

The conclusion of Young Rock, season 3 occurs in the 13th episode. In a teary-eyed season finale, young adult Rock buys his family a house in Miami after his Saturday Night Live success. The episode has flashbacks as kid and teenage versions of the Rock promises his mom that he would buy her a house one day. Rock fulfills his promise by handing over keys to the house to his family. The season finale of Young Rock would make any fan of Dewayne Johnson proud. We see through the other timelines that Rock's family struggles to keep apartments throughout his life, and at the end of this season Rock makes sure that struggle is over.
