Despite housing some of the greatest tag teams of all time, the WWE has hardly ever truly prioritized tag team wrestling, which is a huge shame given how much of a proven success it has been on several occasions.

Even with a lack of focus on tag team wrestling at times, the wrestlers have always delivered. There have been many all-time classic matches for Tag Team Championships in the WWE, and these can be easily rooted out by looking at Dave Meltzer’s star ratings, with the highest rated matches showcasing the best of the best when it comes the company’s Tag Titles.

10 The New Day Vs The Usos Vs Lucha Dragons, TLC 2015 (4.25 Stars)

WWE Tag Team Championship Ladder Match TLC 2015

If this match had happened a decade prior, then perhaps it would be considered an all-time classic. By the time this match rolled around, fans had become largely numb to the TLC stipulation, but these three teams managed to pull of a wonderful and inventive match.

There were many fantastic spots jammed into this match, including a crazy Salida Del Sol through a ladder. Whilst The New Day emerged victorious, every individual shined during this amazing PPV opener, and it should arguably be rated even higher.

9 Hart Foundation Vs Shawn Michaels & Steve Austin, Raw 1997 (4.25 Stars)

Hart Foundation vs Shawn Michaels & Steve Austin WWE Raw

This match had the classic “can they co-exist” trope, though at this time it hadn’t been done to death, so it provided an interesting dynamic with both Michaels and Austin working hard to overcome a well-oiled machine like the team of Owen Hart and The British Bulldog.

Great tag team psychology between four legends made this a great match to behold with a fast-paced affair, packing a lot into just 13 minutes of ring time.

8 Brian Kendrick & Paul London Vs Dave Taylor & William Regal Vs MNM Vs Hardy Boyz, Armageddon 2006 (4.25 Stars)

Armageddon 2006 joey mercury botch

The main talking point from this fatal four-way Ladder Match was the infamous catapult botch spot which saw Joey Mercury suffer a gruesome and horrific injury. However, everything that came before and after that moment was incredibly entertaining.

The action in this match was non-stop, and it was a spot-fest in the best of ways, helping to highlight several teams in the division. Without the awful injury, this would likely have gotten an even better star rating.

7 Kane Vs Dudley Boyz Vs Jeff Hardy & RVD Vs Chris Jericho & Christian, Raw 2002 (4.25 Stars)

Kane and Jeff Hardy WWE Raw

Defending the Tag Team Titles on his own, Kane pulled off one hell of a performance which helped him claw back some previous star power that he had lost over time. Everyone put in a show-stealing performance in this TLC Match, with several crazy spots.

Jericho was thrown over the top rope from atop a ladder, Hardy received a huge Superplex from many feet up, in addition to many table spots and all out carnage. The crowd was electric for this match, and the fact that it took place on weekly TV made it feel even more special.

6 The Usos Vs The Street Profits, Money In The Bank 2022 (4.5 Stars)

The Usos vs The Street Profits WWE Money in the Bank 2022

Whilst it took a little while to get going, these two teams built and built the intensity and heat throughout, culminating in a high-action and exciting crescendo. In an era in which rematches are so frequent, it is a testament to these four men that they managed to pull off a top tier tag team match despite battling countless times before.

They were given nearly 25 minutes to work with, which is a rarity in modern day WWE when it comes to tag team wrestling, and they made use of that time to produce one of the best matches of 2022.

5 Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre Vs Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins, Hell In A Cell 2018 (4.5 Stars)

The chemistry between these four men was off the charts as they put together a perfectly constructed and fluid tag team match, with the name value of those involved making the Raw Tag Team Championships feel more important they had done in some time.

There were several stunning sequences in this match, with the finish in particular being the definition of wrestling perfection. This stole the show and is up there with the best tag team matches of all time, though it is unfortunately not spoken about enough, likely due to how much tag team wrestling has dropped in stock in WWE over the last decade.

4 Alpha Academy Vs RK-Bro Vs Seth Rollins & Kevin Owens, Raw 2022 (4.5 Stars)

Randy Orton and Chad Gable WWE Raw

This is up there with the best openers in Raw’s history. Six incredibly talented superstars put on a stunning display of what makes tag team wrestling such an enjoyable spectacle. Chad Gable proved why he is considered one of the more underrated wrestlers in the world, with him standing out especially in this match.

The team of Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens was an all-star alliance, and they worked wonderfully in this match, and RK-Bro set the crowd on fire as they pulled out a win following one of the best RKOs of all time on Gable.

3 Diesel & Shawn Michaels Vs Razor Ramon & 1-2-3 Kid, Action Zone 1994 (4.5 Stars)

Diesel & Shawn Michaels vs Razor Ramon & 123 Kid

It is a huge shame that this match took place on the very short-lived Action Zone program, and not on a higher profile TV show or PPV, otherwise this would be looked at more as an all-time classic tag team title battle.

Diesel looked like a monster, the 1-2-3 Kid got a brilliant hot tag, Razor Ramon played a great babyface in peril, and Shawn Michaels elevated the match like he always does. These four best friends clearly made it their mission to make each other look as strong as possible, and it resulted in a marvelous contest.

2 Christian & Edge Vs Dudley Boyz Vs Hardy Boyz, SummerSlam 2000 (4.5 Stars)

Jeff Hardy Edge

The first ever Tables, Ladders, and Chairs Match revolutionized wrestling, and put these three tag teams on the map as all-time greats. Whilst this was a spot-fest at times, it included several great threads logical storytelling.

Edge & Christian were the most focused team in this match, with their smartness leading them to victory, The Hardy Boyz too often went for the spectacular maneuvers, which cost them the match, and the Dudley Boyz were similarly too distracted by their tables' obsession.

1 Dudley Boyz Vs Christian & Edge Vs Hardy Boyz, WrestleMania 17 (4.75 Stars)

TLC WrestleMania 17

Whilst the first TLC Match was sensational, the second edition at WrestleMania 17 was something special. This is one of the most iconic matches in WWE history, and the highlight reel alone is evidence of why.

There were countless death-defying spots during this match, and the crowd responded in kind, with them being on their feet for almost every second. This helped push these six men to becoming living legends of tag team wrestling.
