Breaking Up The Singh Brothers and Jinder Mahal, Doing Their Best Work on 205 Live

As mentioned above, The Singh Brothers were most known for their time spent managing former WWE Champion, Jinder Mahal. They had become an important staple of Mahal's heel persona on the roster. They were alongside some of the most key moments in Mahal's career including his battles with Bray Wyatt, Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura, and several others.

After three years of identifying the Singh Brothers with Mahal's WWE run, it came as a surprise to fans when the Singh Brothers were drafted to 205 Live, separating them from Mahal who had been drafted to Smackdown during the 2019 WWE Superstar Shake-up.

Although, the breakup of the trio may have been bittersweet to those used to their alliance, both Harvinder and Gurvinder believe it was the right time to break them up and the right thing to do, “I think at that point we were kinda ready to do something fresh and different."

Between the years of 2019 and up until their release in 2021, they were regulars on 205 Live, Main Event and even appeared on the 2019 Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia and on a couple of editions of Raw and NXT. However, they spent the last months of their WWE career on 205 Live.

The brothers look back fondly at their time in WWE after managing Jinder Mahal. The former allies of Mahal felt they did their best work as a tag team on 205 Live. "In 205 Live there were no real storylines, just go wrestle. I felt our work was the best it's ever been," said Gurvinder.

"Being on 205 the last year and a half, our confidence as far as in-ring work was at an all-time high. When you're on the sidelines you kinda lose your legs so to speak and you lose your in-ring conditioning, so for us, it was like our wind is back. We were booked constantly, we were flying in from Vancouver to Orlando for 205 Live for 10 months during a pandemic," said Harvinder.

The duo says, the most important thing for them was to stay booked and stay the course, hoping for an opportunity to keep growing as a tag team in WWE.

The Day Of The Singh Brothers' WWE Release

Since the start of the pandemic, WWE has released numerous talents in multiple rounds. The Bollywood Boyz said they were concerned during the first round of releases, but after more rounds of releases kept occurring they believed they were "okay" because they were still being constantly booked. So when they did get the news of their release, they admit it came as a surprise.

We were lucky, we had a really good run, we got to work with so many legends, we literally traveled the world with WWE, a lot of guys just stay in Florida, but we were literally on the WWE full-time road schedule. We experienced it, we had some really cool moments. So when it happened, we were like 'maybe we've done as much as we can in this,' sometimes you just kinda become part of the furniture {laughs} you're just kinda there and getting in that rut so we felt that maybe it was time to go spread our wings," said Gurvinder.

The Next Part of Their Careers

The Bollywood Boyz didn't waste any time after receiving their WWE release and immediately were working to get future bookings on independent shows both within the United States and internationally. "Right after the release happened we did have promotions from all over the world, not only in North America but India for example, which is such a big market for wrestling, the Middle East, and the Philippines, all these promotions reaching out to us to bring us to their country."

The Bollywood Boyz revealed that their non-compete clause is up soon and they are making their in-ring wrestling return on Saturday, September 25th in Seattle, Washington for Defy Wrestling. They will be taking on the team of "Classic" Cody Chhun and Nick Wayne. In addition they will also be appearing on Defy Wrestling shows taking place in Portland, Oregon on October 9th and Los Angeles, California on October 14th.

"We're excited, Defy is gonna be our home base and we're very excited."
