WrestleMania's main events are often contested by top-tier talent, with wrestlers who are at the absolute peak of their powers. This normally leads to great matches with wrestlers showcasing their skills. However, even though this is the biggest night of the year, that doesn't mean mistakes don't happen.

Botches take place at WrestleMania every year, as is the case with live wrestling, anything can happen. Over time that has also included the main event matches as well, with several wrestlers making some mistakes. Some have been more obvious than others, but when the spotlight is the brightest, some wrestlers have made a couple of errors.

10 Shooting Star Press Gone Wrong (WrestleMania 19)

Brock Lesnar Shooting Star Press

One of the biggest WrestleMania main event botches took place when Brock Lesnar faced Kurt Angle. This was an enjoyable encounter, and they wanted to put together a big finish with The Beast hitting a Shooting Star Press to defeat his opponent. However, he missed the landing here.

Lesnar landed on his neck, and was lucky to escape a life-threatening injury. Because this one looked terrible, they had to get up for another F5, with Brock being obviously out of it due to the rough landing.

9 Dropping A Deadman (WrestleMania 33)

Roman Reigns vs The Undertaker

WrestleMania 33 produced one of the weakest main event matches in the history of WWE. Roman Reigns defeated The Undertaker, but the match featured several botches. The timing was just all over the place within this particular match, with several mistakes happening.

One of those saw Roman attempt to reverse a Tombstone Piledriver, yet he ended up dropping Undertaker. While he tried to pick him up again, things didn't work out, and they ended up having to abandon the spot mid-match, which looked very awkward.

8 Timing's All Wrong (WrestleMania 8)

Papa Shango

One of the most famous botches in WrestleMania history took place when Papa Shango completely missed his timing. He was supposed to run in during the main event and cause a disqualification finish between Hulk Hogan and Sid Justice, but when the moment came, he was nowhere to be seen.

It led to a different decision having to be made on the fly, which left things feeling very awkward between them all. This was a huge mistake from Shango, given it was his only role in the match, and it's surprising someone wasn't there to tell him when to go.

7 A Late Concussion (WrestleMania 27)

The Miz and John Cena WrestleMania concussion

This was one of the scarier botches to have happened in a WrestleMania main event, because it led to a serious concussion for The Miz. It came late on in the match when Cena knocked The Miz to the floor, and his head bounced off the concrete. This led to Miz being completely out of it.

The Rock had to appear in order to restart the match, and they got to the finish with him helping Miz win. However, the WWE Champion was barely able to stand or walk towards the final moments because this injury was so severe.

6 Table Spot Goes Wrong (WrestleMania 16)

The Rock v Triple H WrestleMania 16

The fatal-four-way match at WrestleMania 16 saw a series of botches take place in one comedic moment. Triple H had set The Rock up on the table, but Mick Foley's dive from the ropes saw him totally miss him, and he just slammed off the corner of the table. Triple H then tried to solve the issue.

However, the first time he dropped onto The Rock, the table didn't break. He then stepped onto the other announce table which broke underneath his leg before he finally put The Rock through on the third attempt, after a series of botches.

5 RKO-Batista Bomb Mistake (WrestleMania 30)

WrestleMania 30 had a brilliant main event with Batista, Randy Orton, and Daniel Bryan putting together a fun encounter. One big moment saw a Batista Bomb be met by an RKO in midair, was sent Bryan crashing through the announce table. But it was Orton who got hurt here.

They hadn't moved the TV monitors properly, so when Orton dropped, his back just slammed onto the monitor, which was obviously very painful for him. It's a small detail a lot of fans missed, but it was certainly not part of the plan.

4 Fan Tries To Steal The Show (WrestleMania 23)

John Cena v Shawn Michaels WrestleMania 23 Cropped

The WrestleMania 23 main event between Shawn Michaels and John Cena was an incredible one, with the two men putting together a great match. However, the botch here took place from the security team. That's because a fan ended up hopping the barricade and getting into the ring.

This took place right at the start of the match, being caught on camera. Thankfully, they were able to stop him before anything too serious happened, but it was a crazy beginning that nobody truly wanted.

3 A Messed Up Pinfall (WrestleMania 35)

Becky Lynch Pins Ronda Rousey

The first-ever women's WrestleMania main event ended with a botched pinfall, with Ronda Rousey's arms were not fully on the mat. Things ended up being very confusing, despite the fact it was a huge moment in wrestling history. It came so abruptly that nobody knew how to react.

The fans were legitimately surprised with the finish, because they didn't think it was a pinfall, which did hurt the match overall. The finish of a match should always be clear, especially in the main event, but that wasn't the case here.

2 Michael Cole Gets The Call Wrong (WrestleMania 37)

Sasha Banks Vs Bianca Belair

Sometimes it isn't even down to the wrestlers themselves that the mistakes take place, that can happen with commentary. On the main events, they are usually on point, especially Michael Cole. However, for the finish of WrestleMania 37, the commentator botched the ending.

When Bianca Belair hit her finish and clearly pinned Sasha Banks, the match was over. The fans were going crazy for it, yet Michael Cole was screaming repeatedly that Banks had kicked out, which was not the case and caused a little confusion.

1 Smashing Glass (WrestleMania 36)

Undertaker smashes the glass

Even in a pre-taped cinematic match, things can still go wrong, as The Undertaker can attest to. He and AJ Styles pushed each other throughout their encounter, and that led to a mistake from The Deadman. He looked to punch AJ, but he moved, and that ended with him smashing into the glass.

Undertaker ended up cutting all his arm open, and they had to actually pause things when they were taping the match in order for Undertaker to get things looked at. Thankfully, he was able to continue and finish this one.
