Fans have been asking why WWE would go with Brock Lesnar vs. Omos in a WrestleMania 39 match, especially when there seemed to be better options on the table. Lesnar could have wrestled Bobby Lashley in a rematch from Elimination Chamber, he could have wrestled Bray Wyatt, or he could have moved forward with a dream match with Gunther. Apparently, one of the reasons Wyatt is not his opponent is that Lesnar himself didn't want the match.

Fightful Select is reporting that Gunther vs. Lesnar was on the table and prepped going into Survivor Series. Things changed and it's not entirely clear why. From there, Fightful was told that Gunther vs. Lesnar was not considered for any extended period of time. So too, Bobby Lashley versus Lesnar in a rematch was considered -- and would have made sense based on the low blow Lesnar delivered to get disqualified in their last encounter -- and Bray Wyatt was also pitched for Lesnar. It's not clear when Wyatt was pitched as the opponent for Lesnar but reports are that Lesnar didn't like the idea.

Brock Lesnar Bray Wyatt wrestlemania

Sources claim “that Brock himself nixed the idea," of facing Wyatt and this led to Omos vs. Lesnar for WrestleMania. Fightful reports there was another plan thrown out as a backup option, but that hasn't figured into the creative for the show. There were rumors that Vince McMahon was the one who pitched Omos vs. Lesnar, and while Fightful couldn't confirm as much, they did hear that Lesnar approved a bout with the Nigerian Giant.

Lesnar Vs. Omos Feels Like Filler

It is unfortunate that WWE could line up all their ducks in a row to get Lesnar the ideal opponent for the biggest show of the year. It's not that Lesnar vs. Omos is a terrible idea, but many fans have complained on social media that there had to have been better options.

As for why Lesnar didn't want Wyatt, that isn't clear. But, it might have something to do with the odd creative that surrounds Wyatt's character and that a lot of stars don't come out looking better after a program with him.
