On a wild night full of nostalgic moments and the push of the next generation in WWE, one name -- someone who falls a bit in between those two categories -- returned to close the show and leave a lot of questions left unanswered as WWE approaches The Royal Rumble this coming Saturday. Brock Lesnar returned in the final moments of the show and made Bobby Lashley his target, helping Austin Theory retain his United States Championship in the main event of Raw 30. Lashley vs. Theory was the main event and a no-disqualification was meant to be the highlight of the evening. A last-minute change by WWE to add the stipulation was explained when Lesnar made his way out to the ring. Unclear as to why he was there, he went right after Lashley in the final minute of the show and gave him an F5. He then picked up Austin Theory and delivered an F5 on top of the prone Lashley. Because it was a no-disqualification match, the official counted to three and Theory retained his United States Championship.

The WWE announce crew asked why Lesnar was there, but the show didn't stay on the air long enough to answer that question. It's not clear if WWE will address this on Friday's go-home edition of SmackDown, or if they'll wait until the Royal Rumble. As of this writing, it has not been confirmed if Lesnar has entered himself into the Royal Rumble match, but both Lashley and Theory are competitors in the contest on Saturday. Should Lesnar be, he'll become an immediate favorite to win.

Another Big Surprise Before The Royal Rumble?

This is the second big return WWE has revealed prior to the pay-per-view on Saturday. Cody Rhodes was confirmed to return and now Lesnar is back. Typically, WWE holds most of these surprises for the Rumble itself. That begs the question: what do they have in store that could still leave the WWE Universe in shock?
