Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns are set to square off once again at the WWE SummerSlam 2022 pay-per-view — this time a Last Man Standing bout — for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

It's rare for WWE to carry on feuds for more than a few months these days. But the latest installment of the Lesnar-Reigns rivalry has been going for 11 months now (and counting). It started at the end of SummerSlam 2021, when Lesnar made a stunning return as a babyface following Reigns' successful title defense over John Cena.

WWE is building this up as the final Reigns vs. Lesnar meeting. But of course, it's tough to envision WWE staying committed to this stipulation when you consider just how much they've relied on both stars over the years. That said, this will reportedly be the final Reigns-Lesnar bout for the foreseeable future.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Ringside News), Dave Meltzer reported that at this time, there aren't "plans for any other match between them as of right now" past SummerSlam. However, Meltzer added that things can always change and lead to a potential rematch down the road.

"You know, I mean guys get hurt, and it’s a match that, you know, bringing Brock back still got a lot of talk and everything like that," Meltzer said. "The first week, there was a lotta lotta talk on bringing Brock back. We’ll see how much that means this week to a degree, but you know, it’s still SummerSlam."

Roman Reigns Brock Lesnar SummerSlam

Meltzer previously reported that the plan was for Randy Orton to challenge Reigns for the title at SummerSlam, which will run at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee on July 30. However, Orton has been sidelined long-term with a back injury, and it's unclear if he will wrestle again this year.

One thing to keep in mind: Theory told Bobby Lashley on last week's episode of WWE Raw that he plans to cash in his Money in the Bank contract against the victor of Reigns vs. Lesnar.

Can Lesnar Even The All-Time Series vs. Reigns?

Reigns is among the few superstars who holds a winning record against Lesnar in singles matches. The Tribal Chief is 3-2 against Lesnar, having won the last three meetings (Summerslam 2018, Crown Jewel 2021 and WrestleMania 38). Lesnar took the first two one-on-one showdowns, beating Reigns at WrestleMania 34 and The Greatest Royal Rumble.
