In late 1997, WWE began telling one of their greatest stories ever when they introduced The Undertaker's kayfabe brother, Kane. From the second Kane debuted, fans were invested in the storyline. The two would go on to have a classic rivalry during Kane's first year in the company. When that concluded, both characters moved on to other programs.
However, The Brothers of Destruction have circled back around to work together as partners and opponents several times throughout the years. So much so, that some fans might've even forgotten some of the pretty cool moments that involved both "The Phenom" and "The Devil's Favorite Demon."
10 Kane Stops The Undertaker From Destroying Shane McMahon
In 2001, WWE introduced a disturbing storyline that saw The Undertaker's real-life wife, Sara, be stalked by an unknown person. As a result, The Undertaker was on a warpath for weeks, trying to figure out exactly who was stalking his wife. With no real leads to follow, everyone was a suspect in 'Taker's eyes.
On the 6/7/2001 episode of SmackDown, Shane McMahon was snatched up by The Undertaker while walking backstage and questioned, aggressively. Luckily for Shane, Kane stepped in to talk his brother down. Had he not, The Undertaker would've likely made Shane-O-Mac even more famous than he already was.
9 The Brothers Of Destruction Save The Rock From The McMahon-Helmsley Faction
In 2000, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon were on-screen husband and wife. This eventually led to them forming The McMahon-Helmsley Faction. The group was made up of D-Generation-X, The McMahons, and The Stooges (Gerald Brisco and Pat Patterson).
On an episode of Monday Night Raw, Triple H defended the WWE Championship against The Rock, with his faction at ringside. When things started looking bad for The Rock, The Brothers of Destruction hit the ring for the save. Unfortunately, The Rock would inadvertently hit The Undertaker with a chair, causing 'Taker to Chokeslam him. Triple H would wisely pin The Rock after that and retain his title.
8 The Brothers Of Destruction Save Team Xtreme
During the mid-90s, WWE's once great tag team division was in a bit of a lull. However, in the late 90s, a few new tag teams hit the scene and jump-started WWE's tag division. One of those teams was The Hardy Boyz. Matt and Jeff would become overnight sensations in WWE heading into the new millennium. The tandem would get even more popular when they added Lita to the mix and became "Team Xtreme."
On an episode of Monday Night Raw, Triple H defeated Jeff Hardy to regain the WWE Intercontinental Championship. After the match, Triple H and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin destroyed The Hardys with a steel chair and then set their sights on Lita. Luckily, The Brothers Of Destruction would show up to save the day, scaring away The Two-Man Power Trip.
7 The Brothers Of Destruction Break Vince McMahon's Leg
In 1998, Mr. McMahon would become obsessed with getting the WWE Championship off of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. He'd accomplish that task by making a deal with the devil, in the form of The Undertaker and Kane. Unfortunately for McMahon, it would cost him. On the 9/28/98 Monday Night Raw, McMahon was set to award the WWE Championship to either The Undertaker or Kane as part of their previous deal.
McMahon would change his mind though and begin to berate The Brothers Of Destruction. After The Undertaker issued a warning to McMahon, he'd flip 'Taker the bird and get caught. This prompted The brothers to pummel McMahon and "break" his leg.
6 Undertaker Drags Kane Down To Hell
Both The Undertaker and Kane's characters have supernatural origins. It was never really explained how they got them, but it was universally understood that they had powers. It's a bit hokey, but both 'Taker and Kane made it believable. One of the more fun instances of The Undertaker using his supernatural powers was when he'd "drag his opponent to Hell."
The most famous instance of Undertaker dragging someone under the ring came in 1996 during his feud with Diesel. However, on the 10/22/2010 SmackDown, The Undertaker would surprise his brother and drag him under the ring. It can be a bit of a silly spot, but Kane sold it perfectly and got the moment over with fans.
5 The Brothers Of Destruction Set William Regal's Office On Fire
In spring 2001, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin turned heel and joined forces with Triple H to form The Two-Man Power Trip. The two ran roughshod over the WWE roster until they ran into The Brothers Of Destruction. Never ones to be pushed around, Undertaker and Kane would become a thorn in Austin and Triple H's side.
Things quickly got heated between the four men as they would trade ambush attacks. On the 4/19/2001 SmackDown, Undertaker and Kane would walk into WWE Commissioner Wiliam Regal's office and demand a match against Austin and Triple H. Regal would try to reason with the brothers and offer them Edge and Christian instead. This prompted Kane to set a few fires inside Regal's office. Unsurprisingly, the fire made Regal cooperate.
4 The Brothers Of Destruction Take out The Wyatt Family
In 2013, Bray Wyatt and his Wyatt Family hit the WWE scene. Wyatt played the role of a deranged yet charismatic cult leader to his loyal followers, Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, and Braun Strowman. In 2015, Wyatt would set his sights on becoming the new face of fear by finally ending The Undertaker. Wyatt would fall short at WrestleMania 31.
However, in October 2015, The Wyatt Family would again target The Undertaker, and also Kane. After taking both men out, Wyatt would boast on Raw about possessing Undertaker and Kane's demonic powers. Wyatt's celebration would be cut short though when The Brothers Of Destruction re-emerged to destroy The Wyatt Family and Double Chokeslam Wyatt.
3 Last Ride Tutorial
In late 1999, The Undertaker was forced out of action due to injury, when he returned in 2000, he did so with a whole new persona, "The American Badass." This version of The Undertaker was a lot more of a brawler than the previous version. While Undertaker would still incorporate many of his old moves as "The American Badass," he added a new finisher at the time, The Last Ride.
On an edition of SmackDown, Undertaker and Kane would be facing Taka Michinoku, Funaki, and The Big Show. Eventually, Big Show would walk out on his teammates. This left The Undertaker some spare time to teach his brother the finer points of delivering The Last Ride. Kane would turn out to be a quick learner.
2 Kane Does "Wassup"
Various times throughout the years, established tandems have been booked to team with a random third partner. This was certainly the case on an episode of SmackDown when The Undertaker and Kane teamed up with one half of the Dudley Boyz, D-Von Dudley. The trio would take on another odd three-man team of Rikishi, Haku, and Christian.
The Undertaker, Kane, and D-Von would unsurprisingly pick up the win that night. However, there was one highlight during the match that nobody saw coming. At one point during the bout, Kane and D-Von Dudley would execute The Dudley's signature "Wassup" double team move. Kane's mask was in the way, but it was clear that "The Big Red Machine" had fun executing the move.
1 The Brothers Of Destruction On ECW
The Undertaker is arguably the most legendary character in all pro wrestling history. Furthermore, 'Taker was a consummate professional during his career. With that in mind, it's hard to picture The Deadman working in a renegade promotion like ECW. It happened though.
To be completely fair, 'Taker's ECW appearance came in 2008 when ECW was under the WWE umbrella. Still, seeing The Undertaker and Kane square off against The Miz and John Morrison on ECW must've been a shock to many fans. Had The Undertaker shown up in ECW 12 years prior though, his appearance would set the wrestling world on fire. If only.
