Following a highly successful and decorated run with WWE, Bryan Danielson decided to take his talents over to the rival AEW promotion.

Danielson debuted for AEW at the end of the All Out pay-per-view on Sept. 5, rescuing Jurassic Express and Christian Cage from an attack by The Elite. Danielson's debut occurred just moments after fellow former WWE superstar Adam Cole also made his first appearance with AEW.

The 40-year-old left WWE on a very high note, penning a "Thank You" letter to the company and its fans in The Players' Tribune back in September. and some in the company reportedly believe that a return is possible down the road. Danielson recently revealed that his AEW contract is for three years.

Though there were no hard feelings when he left, Danielson admitted during an appearance on Casual Conversations with The Classic (h/t WrestlingInc.com) that he felt "trapped" in WWE when he was asked to do the signature and beloved "Yes!" chant.

Danielson explained that his favorite part of his WWE run was when he was the heel "Planet's Champion", where he didn't have to perform the "Yes!" chant.

"WWE obviously wants ‘Yes Guy’ Daniel Bryan because that’s marketable," Danielson said. "Doing the ‘yes’ chant. To me, it felt a little bit like it trapped me in certain ways. Somebody who yearns for freedom. My favorite part of my whole WWE run was when I was the planet’s champion and I wasn’t doing the ‘yes’ chant at all."

Danielson's final WWE match took place on the Apr. 30 episode of SmackDown. He lost a Universal title match to Roman Reigns, and per the match stipulation, Danielson was "banished" from SmackDown.

Bryan Danielson Is A Future WWE Hall of Famer

Danielson may be working for the rival promotion now, but there is no question that he will eventually find himself in the WWE Hall of Fame. Danielson was one of the WWE's defining superstars of the PG, Reality and New Eras during a time where the company often struggled to develop quality babyfaces.

A Triple Crown and Grand Slam WWE Champion, Danielson headlined two WrestleMania events and did his job in putting several talents over — namely Kofi Kingston, Bray Wyatt, Cesaro and Roman Reigns. Danielson was a valuable member of the WWE roster throughout the 2010s and from 2020 to 2021, and the company will most certainly repay him with a spot in the Hall of Fame down the road.
