AEW star and former World Champion Chris Jericho decided to have a little fun on Twitter following the Super Bowl.

Sunday marked the five-year anniversary of the unforgettable "Festival of Friendship" segment between Jericho and Kevin Owens. The festival, of course, marked the end of the successful partnership between Owens and Jericho.

On Sunday, Owens changed his Twitter profile picture to the Festival of Friendship moment where Jericho began to open a gift from his friend. The former WWE Champion took note and responded by teasing a return to Vince McMahon's promotion:

The two superstars began a working partnership in August 2016. The wrestling icon played a major role in helping develop Owens, the second-ever Universal Champion, as a main event star. Le Champion's "List of Jericho" saga became one of the most popular and beloved storylines during his final full-time run with WWE.

After Owens turned on Jericho, the latter was kept off of television for several weeks.Jericho made an unexpected return at the end of Fastlane 2017 — distracting Owens and helping Goldberg defeat him to become the new Universal Champion. This would set up a United States Championship match between the two at WrestleMania 33, which Owens won.

Jericho would regain the title by defeating Owens at Payback 2017. However, Owens once again got the title back conquering Jericho on the May 2 edition of SmackDown two days later.

Jericho Is Unlikely To Return To WWE

Jericho stated in the summer of 2020 that he doesn't plan on going back to the WWE, noting that he couldn't "stay in the same place forever." The 51-year-old has been instrumental in helping AEW emerge as major competition to WWE. He remains committed to helping this company grow over time, and there's little reason to think that AEW and Jericho will want to end what has been a highly-successful working relationship. It would be fun to see Owens and Jericho rekindle their feud, but with WWE recently handing Owens an extension, it's unlikely to happen.
