World Wrestling Entertainment has been the home of many iconic names in the pro-wrestling industry. Those legendary wrestlers made a name for themselves among the fans and won countless championships in WWE.

Throughout the years, some of those wrestlers left WWE to explore other opportunities elsewhere. A few wrestlers like The Rock, John Cena, and Batista went on to become top Hollywood stars, while others like Chris Jericho and Bryan Danielson took their talents to other promotions.

Since pro-wrestling can be a brutal sport, not every wrestler can continue to be active in-ring performers for a very long time, and likewise, many of the legendary wrestlers are close to hanging up their boots.

The fans can't help but wonder where those wrestlers would have their final match before announcing their retirements. With that said, let's take a look at 11 wrestlers who we're predicting will have their final matches in WWE before they call it a career.

10 Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho in AEW

Chris Jericho is one of the inevitable names in pro-wrestling history when it comes to being the best ever, and his career in WWE is something that most wrestlers envy to this day. Starting from his debut in 1999, Jericho has been in the ring with the top superstars in WWE and has won multiple championships with the promotion, including six world championships and nine Intercontinental Championships.

He is now a part of the All Elite Wrestling roster, but we cannot write off the possibility of Jericho's WWE return.

Jericho even teased a return to WWE while replying to Kevin Owens' recent tweet, and that could be a sign that we can see Chris Jericho back in a WWE ring before he retires.

9 The Big Show

Paul Wight in AEW

It's obvious that The Big Show does not have much time left as an in-ring performer, and he's had only three matches since signing with AEW in February 2021. He predominantly works as a commentator for AEW Dark: Elevation, and it's only a matter of time before he calls it a career.

The Big Show has a profound history with WWE and has achieved tremendous success in the promotion over the years. He cited creative differences as a major cause for his exit from WWE in 2021, but there are no wounds time cannot heal, and WWE would love to have The Big Show back to compete in his final match under their banner before he retires.

8 Mickie James

Mickie James Royal Rumble 2022

Mickie James made history when she competed in the 2022 Women's Royal Rumble as the reigning Impact Knockouts World Champion. She didn't leave WWE on the best terms as she got released as part of the budget cuts, and things became even worse when she got her WWE care package in a garbage bag.

She took things to Vince McMahon's attention by posting it on her Twitter handle, which prompted a reply from Stephanie McMahon and an apology call from Vince McMahon himself.

If Mickie James was able to put everything aside to appear in the 2022 Royal Rumble, there are high chances that we could see her wrestling her final match in WWE.

7 Dustin Rhodes

Dustin Rhodes AEW

Current AEW star Dustin Rhodes is no stranger to the WWE Universe as he is well-known for his long tenure under the Goldust character. He might not have achieved significant main event success in WWE, but he still has 15 title reigns to his name.

He left WWE in 2019 after his contract expired, but he left on such great terms that Triple H called him to give him an emotional send-off. He made it clear that he's sticking with AEW even after his brother Cody left the promotion, but that does not mean a WWE return is not off the table, and we can see him in a WWE ring before he retires.

6 Christian Cage

Christian Cage AEW

Christian Cage's journey to an in-ring return after his retirement in 2014 is nothing short of extraordinary. He followed the footsteps of his best friend Edge to make his in-ring return in 2021 and competed in that year's men's Royal Rumble match.

But considering WWE's much protective approach towards allowing such wrestlers to compete in physically-demanding matches, Christian had to leave WWE in 2021 and sign with AEW.

He had one of the best years of his career in 2021, holding the Impact World Championship and becoming the first person to compete in the main event of three different promotions in the same year.

Christian is having a great run in AEW so far, but when it's time for him to finally retire, it's most likely he'll compete in a WWE ring for his final match before taking his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame.

5 The Hardy Boyz

Hardy Boyz reunion

Jeff Hardy's WWE release has been a hot topic among the pro-wrestling community for a while, and while Hardy made it clear that he plans to join his brother Matt at AEW, there's no denying the fact that both Hardy brothers had left WWE in equally bad terms in the past but still made up their minds to return to the promotion.

From how it appears, the upcoming Hardy Boyz reunion could very well be their last. But even though it might look like they might have their final matches in AEW or elsewhere, it's not a sin to suggest that The Hardy Boyz may patch things up with WWE for one final return, where they can have their proper retirement match.

4 Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe in WWE on RAW

Samoa Joe's last WWE run ended with controversy as he got released twice as part of the promotion's budget cuts. Triple H got him back on NXT following his first release in April, and Joe returned to in-ring action and won his third NXT Championship.

However, another setback forced Joe to relinquish the NXT Championship and take time off to heal, during which time WWE released him once again in January 2022.

Looking at Samoa Joe's WWE career as a whole, he wasn't able to replicate his previous success in the promotion and didn't win a single world championship. Joe can make up for that missed opportunity if he decides to return to WWE in some time in the future before his eventual retirement.

3 Sting

Sting in AEW

Sting's WWE career ended prematurely after sustaining a neck injury in a match with Seth Rollins and had to announce his retirement.

However, he returned to in-ring action after signing with AEW in December 2020 and has competed in multiple physical contests so far. He can use this opportunity to give the fans what they want by having a proper WWE run before he hangs up his boots for good.

2 Bryan Danielson

Bryan Danielson AEW

Bryan Danielson was already a well-known wrestler even before his second WWE stint from 2009. But there's no denying the fact that his run in WWE as Daniel Bryan catapulted his reputation and made him a global sensation, and his WrestleMania 30 heroics was one of the best storylines in WWE history.

However, the fact that he's a full-time performer for AEW should not mean the possibility of him returning to WWE one last time is off the table. Danielson stood out among the other wrestlers who either left or got released from WWE by being graceful with his criticism of the promotion. That could be a welcome sign pointing out the possibility of Danielson returning to WWE before he finally calls it a career.

1 CM Punk

CM Punk AEW Debut

This entry might raise some eyebrows as CM Punk's relationship with WWE might not look very fruitful. But if we look at it from a business perspective, both WWE and CM Punk could make tons of money if they decide to work together.

The fans thought CM Punk would never associate himself with WWE following his uneventful exit in 2014, but Punk surprised everybody by returning as an analyst for FS1's WWE Backstage.

CM Punk continues to have a solid run in AEW as of this writing, and we can expect it to continue in the coming days as well. But deep down inside, CM Punk's fans would want to see him back in a WWE ring for one last time before the end of his in-ring career.
