CM Punk has pointed out since he returned that he “feels like Terry Funk” in modern day locker rooms, and there is no doubt that he now finds himself alongside young wrestlers who he himself unknowingly motivated to pursue their own dreams of wrestling stardom. This influence extends further than just the AEW roster, as he has now become very close, very good friends with ROH’s Danhausen, at least according to him.

By now, it is more than acceptable to love that Danhausen. This remains true even for big stars like CM Punk, or "Pepsiman" as Danhausen prefers to refer to his new friend. Punk is back in business now, fully immersing himself in the wrestling community. But months before his big return to the ring, he found himself once again altering the world of Ring of Honor forever; Punk, along with KENTA, gave Danhausen their blessing to continue using the Go 2 Sleep as a finishing move, going as far as to help Danhausen think of an evil name for his newest maneuver.

How Danhausen Received CM Punk And KENTA's Blessing To Use The Go 2 Sleep

Made famous by KENTA, and later by Punk in WWE, Danhausen reached out to Chicago’s "Pepsiman" to inform him on Twitter that he had indeed stolen the move. Punk said he had no problem with the move theft, but that the “other guy” might have a problem with it. KENTA, being the 'other guy', then stepped in and clarified that he is fine with anyone using the move, except for Punk. Danhausen was asked about this interaction on an episode of Renee Paquette’s Oral Session’s Podcast:

“So as Danhausen saw it, CM Punk, wonderful fellow, gave Danhausen the GTS as his finisher. Then Kenta got a little angry at him, but then said he doesn’t care who uses it besides CM Punk. So Danhausen got two blessings as far as he can see it, CM Punk and Kentahausen... Even named it Very Nice, Very Kneevil.”

There it is, just a nice little interaction between future and past Ring of Honor legends. In a different world, that is the end of the story.

Danhausen And CM Punk's Connection Is Truly Bizarre

Since this interaction though, Danhausen’s fascination and friendship with CM Punk seems to have only grown. On the latest Vloghausen from Danhausen’s YouTube page, the "very nice and very evil one" was having a conversation with AEW upstart Daniel Garcia who has been grabbing the attention of fans over the past few months. Danhasuen was commenting on Garcia’s beat downs of Sting and Darby Allin when the conversation led to his and 2.0’s beat down of Punk, admitting that he had a bit of a conundrum in that he likes Garcia, but CM Punk was his friend now and probably his best friend. Garcia admitted to doing it only because he personally wanted to be Danhausen’s best friend — such flattery did not stop him from being cursed by Danhausen.

Punk and Danhausen being friends, possibly best friends, is a twist beyond bizarre. Punk may be enjoying his current tour of love fests, but a far more bizarre festival of appreciation may be coming his way. Hopefully, Punk knows what kind of dark evil he is dealing with in being friends with Danhausen. Among all the laughter and good times, the one known as Danhausen has made one thing clear: he is only nice because it helps him be more effective in being evil. Watch your back Punk, and no swearing!
