CM Punk’s return to wrestling has opened up a lot of potential reunions that many thought would never be possible. In his returning AEW promo, Punk said he had a lot of “scores to settle...”

One of those particular reunions happens to be with fellow AEW star, Serena Deeb. Fans will know of CM Punk and Serena Deeb’s relationship from the hugely popular WWE faction, the Straight Edge Society when Serena made an instant impact in her WWE debut by shaving her head bald as an initiation into Punk’s stable.

CM Punk & Serena Deeb Met Before The Straight Edge Society

However, Punk and Deeb’s relationship goes further back than that, having first met in 2005. Deeb even credits CM Punk with helping to guide her career before she even got to WWE. In an interview with Nick Hausman of Wrestling Inc, Deeb said, You know, we have a great relationship. We obviously go back a long way. We did some really good business together over the years. I met Punk in, I want to say, 2005 in OVW when he first reported there and Paul Heyman was booking the show.

Punk was his guy and Punk was the driving force behind getting me to Shimmer for the first time, which at the time was, as a female wrestler, that was the indie that you aspired to go to because that was the best. From Shimmer that got me to Ring of Honor. So Punk really guided me and really helped support me and getting to all these places before WWE.”

Serena and Punk had amazing chemistry when the two united in the Straight Edge Society. Deeb even admitted she still gets messages on social media about the faction today, over 10 years after the stable disbanded. Deeb continued, “I think because we had that great relationship and that friendship and that foundation, we had a chemistry already just from all of that and it translated on screen. I constantly get tagged on social media and people still love the Straight Edge Society and it was over a decade ago. It’s crazy.”

Will There Be An AEW Reunion?

Now Deeb and Punk are once again in the same locker room, this has led many fans to ask what their relationship is like now. Punk has been known to burn a few bridges during his time in wrestling, but fans will be glad to know that he still has a strong relationship with his former stablemate. Deeb said to WrestlingNews, “So I love having him in the locker room. I think he is somebody that all the guys and all the women should be asking for feedback.

CM Punk gives up AEW Title

I ask him to watch my matches. He doesn’t always get the chance to because he’s obviously doing a million things on the show, but you know, if there’s someone you want to go to for feedback, especially from a storytelling perspective, dude’s a master storyteller. I mean, he blows my mind with some of the stuff he does. So I think he’s clearly one of the best to ever do it. We have a great relationship. We talk every week, and everything’s great and yeah, we might see a reunion someday, you know.”

It’s good to know the chemistry is still there, Deeb noted that before Punk had signed with AEW that they hadn’t had a chance to talk for over 10 years. I haven’t seen or spoken to him in 10, 11, or 12 years, We obviously both went in these different directions and had all these different life changes. We both grew up a lot.

“I remember the first time I saw him (in AEW), it was like, hey, we’re cool. Everything’s great. Here we are at AEW together. We had a moment where we both had things to say to each other, like personal things to say to each other that were both well received. We gave each other a big hug and now I’m so happy he’s there, and I would love to do something with him there. I truly would.”

Serena Deeb

Now both Punk and Serena are in the same company, fans have wondered if a Straight Edge Society reunion is on the cards, however, Deeb shot down those ideas, saying if the two of them did reunite it would be under different characters as both of them have changed so much. “It wouldn’t be the Straight Edge Society [if CM Punk and I teamed up again]. That’s — we’ve evolved, we’ve all evolved past that but, I’d love to team with Punk again, to be honest with you so…”

A Punk and Deeb team-up would be an amazing story if their paths ever crossed, their history and chemistry together would make it a truly historic occurrence.
