Vince McMahon has retired from WWE, but the impact he left on the company will likely never disappear, not entirely. From the creation of WrestleMania to the rise of wrestlers like Hulk Hogan and Stone Cold, McMahon is one of the first people fans have to thank for all of that. He's also the one we have to thank for Superstars and announcers having to avoid saying words like blood and hospital on WWE TV.

Cody Rhodes Will Keep Saying Belts

Banned terms in WWE have been an amusing topic of conversation for years. One of the more well-known words on the list might well be belts. McMahon apparently tells those who call WWE's championships the b-word “belts are for holding up your pants”. Despite the scalding and the potential fine that comes with saying it, Cody Rhodes recently made it clear he will keep calling titles belts.

“They can fine me $1,000 every time I say belts. I'm fine with that,” Rhodes said during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con (H/T Fightful). “Sure it's a championship, but it also physically goes around your waist.” Rhodes was showcasing some of the latest WWE action figures at SDCC this weekend, and referred to the toy titles included in the new collection as belts, promoting the conversation above.

Cody Rhodes Loves A Banned Word

This isn't the first time Rhodes has said banned words and claimed not to care in WWE. In fact, there's a belief that Rhodes acting this way is all a part of his on-screen character. Rhodes dropped the word belts and also the word wrestlers during his first few promos when he returned to Raw. Apparently, the idea is an extension of WWE wanting Rhodes to continue feeling like the same wrestler who left AEW in order to return.

As for when The American Nightmare will finally get his hands on one of those titles/belts for real, it's going to be a while. It seemed likely Rhodes would be the one facing Reigns for one or both of his titles at some point over the summer. However, a torn pec has left Rhodes on the sidelines and he may not wrestle again until 2023.
