Stone Cold Steve Austin will go down as one, if not the coolest wrestler in history. He defined WWE's Attitude Era in the late 90s with his rivalries against The Rock and Vince McMahon, handing out Stunners to anyone that stood in his path, and being a multi-time WWE Champion and Royal Rumble winner.

With all these accomplishments and being the primary figure in defining wrestling's most notorious era, it's hard to think of moments where Stone Cold just didn't stick the landing on his no-nonsense badass Texas ass-kicker persona, but unfortunately, there are some that slipped through the cracks during his illustrious career.

10 Stone Cold And Eddie Guerrero Feud Over Karaoke

A feud between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Eddie Guerrero sounds great on paper, and is an interesting "what-if?" scenario in the history of WWE. During the early 2000s, Austin wanted to work with Eddie and the two filmed a series of segments at a bar, where they feuded over karaoke.

Austin went to sing, which already sounds bizarre, and Eddie started to heckle the Rattlesnake. Tensions flared and Eddie hit Austin over the head with a bottle. Not only are these segments awkward and cringey, but badly produced, too. You could barely hear them over the background noise.

9 "GIMME A HELL YEAH"...*Silence

Stone Cold pandemic

This moment wasn't Stone Cold's fault, and is now looked at as a funny moment during a difficult time. At the start of the Pandemic Era, WWE was filming their shows at the empty Performance Center, with zero crowd noise pumped in. For wrestling to be reliant on a live crowd to effectively tell their stories, the pandemic really hurt the product in the beginning.

Stone Cold, whose promos are mostly call-and-response catchphrases, seemed to suffer the most when he made a special appearance on Raw during that time and made the iconic "Gimme a 'hell yeah'" catchphrase to an empty space, until Byron Saxton awkwardly responded after a long pause.

8 Stone Cold's Theme Has Lyrics

When you hear that glass break, you just know that a can of whoop-ass is going to be open for whoever is in the ring that night. Stone Cold's simple, yet badass entrance has become an iconic part of his character, ready to raise some hell every time he walked through the curtain.

In the early 2000s though, with WWE's habit of fixing what isn't broken, they re-recorded the song with the metal band, Disturbed and the result wasn't anything special. The forgettable lyrics, the gratuitous guitar licks in the new instrumental basically made one of the most iconic entrance themes of all time, dated.

7 Peeing On Arn Anderson

Arn Anderson Peed On

This moment wasn't only cringey, but it was disrespectful, in bad taste, and overall gross. In the early 2000s, Austin was feuding with Ric Flair, and in true Stone Cold fashion, he proceeded to make Flair's life a living hell.

One of his antics came in the form of beating up Flair's friend and former Four Horsemen stablemate, Arn Anderson and then peeing on him. This, in turn confused and disgusted everyone who watched this.

6 Austin Crucified

The Undertaker had a weird phase in the Attitude Era as the leader of the Ministry of Darkness, starring in weird and bizarre segments that were way out of left field, compared to the rest of the show at the time.

One of these segments came in the form of Austin being crucified on Undertaker's Tombstone symbol. Not only did this gain massive controversy after it aired, but seeing the Rattlesnake being subject to a dark being like The Undertaker, is just confusing and doesn't pair well with the badass Texan.

5 Stone Cold Sings To Vince

Some may look at this moment as being hilarious, and maybe it was at the time, but now it's mostly just weird. After Stone Cold "shook hands with the devil himself" at WrestleMania 17, Austin went from the authority defying badass babyface, to a suck-up comedy heel under Vince's employ.

In a backstage segment, Stone Cold tries to cheer Mr. McMahon up by singing him a song and the result was not what anyone wanted. It's hard to believe that the person who stunned the boss and flipped him the bird is now singing to him to cheer him up, and Kurt Angle didn't help much either.

4 The Ric Flair Feud

Stone Cold and Ric Flair began a feud in the early 2000s after the brand split that was forgettable, at best. Trying to recreate the Stone Cold vs McMahon magic that WWE had during the Attitude Era, they decided to make Flair the authority figure on Raw, with Stone Cold refusing to follow orders.

What should've been a simple storyline with two great talents, turned into a confusing and underwhelming angle that fans just wanted to end and quickly forgot when it did.

3 Stone Cold Sucks Up To Vince

When people think of Stone Cold Steve Austin, they remember him feuding with The Rock, the beer bath, and making Vince McMahon's life a living hell. After his heel turn in WM 17, Austin became Vince's stooge and more a comedy character than the anti-authority babyface everyone loved.

This began a series of segments between Vince and Stone Cold, with Austin trying to please McMahon by giving him gifts, singing songs (see above), and sucking up to him in meetings. While it may have been funny then, it's mostly cringey now as everyone just wanted Austin to raise some hell like he did in the late 90s.

2 Abducted Scott Hall

On the most forgettable WrestleMania bouts in Austin and Scott Hall's career in WrestleMania 18, WWE wanted this rivalry to feel personal and with high stakes. But during the NWO's invasion in WWE, the fans were more excited for Rock vs Hogan than anything else at the time.

In one segment, Austin kidnaped Scott Hall and tried to make him drink, knowing his struggle with alcoholism in real life. The segment gets worse and worse over time and is just not a good look for anybody involved.

1 Beer Drinking Contest VS JBL

JBL-Steve-Austin-Drinking-Contest

After Steve Austin's in-ring retirement after WrestleMania 19, WWE did everything possible to still keep him on-screen. They were grasping at straws on how they could feature their once top star.

In an attempt to bring back Saturday Night's Main Event, WWE had Austin have a beer drinking contest against JBL, where he of course, would win. The segment had zero substance, and just no reason to even exist.
