Dakota Kai is among several previously released WWE stars that has since been rehired under Triple H.

Kai was released from her contract in April of this year. Three months later, however, she made a surprise return at the July 30 SummerSlam 2022 pay-per-view Kai, Bayley and Iyo Sky revealed themselves as a new stable and went to confront Raw Women's Champion Bianca Belair in the ring. Becky Lynch, however, came to help Belair which prevented the confrontation from turning physical.

Bayley had missed the previous year recovering from a torn ACL that she suffered while training at the performance center. There was speculation ahead of time that Bayley would return at SummerSlam weekend. Sure enough, she did just that with two new allies in Sky and Kai.

Speaking on WWE After The Bell with Corey Graves (h/t WrestlingNews.co), Kai revealed that WWE only contacted her the day before SummerSlam to see if she would be interested in returning.

"So when that call came, like literally it was 24 hours before SummerSlam," Kai said. "It was weird how the timing worked out perfectly, like I hadn’t taken any booking or signed anything in stone. When that happened, it was like, oh my gosh. Was this meant to be? Then by the time SummerSlam sort of came, I was still in the stage of processing everything that was happening because that was a very small window to not only physically prepare, but mentally and emotionally as well. It’s a dream scenario to be alongside these two."

It's been more than a month since Vince McMahon announced his retirement from WWE. Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan were named the co-CEOs, and Triple H was named the new leader of the creative team and the new Head of Talent Relations.

Under Triple H's watch, WWE has brought back previously released talents in Kai, Hit Row, Dexter Lumis, Scarlett Bordeaux and Karrion Kross. Johnny Gargano left last December following the expiration of his contract, but the former NXT Champion signed a new deal and returned on this week's episode of Raw.

The New Stable Has Enjoyed A Massive Push Thus Far

WWE has wasted no time pushing the new stable. Kai and Sky are set to go up against Raquel Rodriguez and Aliyah in the tournament finals for the Women's Tag Team Championships. The trio will also challenge Belair, Asuka and Alexa Bliss in a six-woman man at next week's Clash at the Castle pay-per-view in Cardiff, Wales.
