Vice TV's documentary series Dark Side of the Ring has been covering controversial topics from the world of professional wrestling since its launch back in 2019. Over the course of three seasons, the show has shone a light on deathmatch legend Nick Gage, the untimely death of Owen Hart, the gruesome murder-suicide committed by Chris Benoit, and more. You'd be forgiven for thinking that they had run out of interesting topics .... but they haven't, and reports of the show's demise were seemingly premature.

Dark Side of the Ring

During a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that Vice is yet to pick up Dark Side for another season. “I’ve not heard of them doing another season. The ratings were down for this season,” Meltzer said. “It’s just up to Vice essentially greenlighting another season. But, I have not heard anything about another season.”

Meltzer's claim that the show had not been picked up for a fourth season caused many to speculate that it had been canceled. Vice TV took to clear up the rumor mill.

We’ve heard some rumors flying around about Season 4 of Dark Side of the Ring. We are as committed as ever to both the series and the broader Dark Side franchise," they tweeted on Monday, May 2, adding the show's producers "are hard at work making more content."

Dark Side made headlines last year with an installment that covered the infamous "Plane Ride from Hell" incident which occurred over the Atlantic Ocean in 2002 while a number of WWE personnel were returning to the United States from the United Kingdom. During the episode, flight attendant Heidi Doyle alleged that she was sexually assaulted by WWE legend Ric Flair, who was exposing himself while walking up and down the aisle wearing a robe and nothing else.
