It might be a week or two until we see them unfold on TV, but WWE's plans for its 2023 Royal Rumble event will be starting to come together behind the scenes right now. There's already been talk of a Pitch Black match, whatever that might be, taking place, and now you can throw a Hell in a Cell bout into the rumor mill along with it.

Demon Finn Inside Hell In A Cell

It was already rumored that the demonic structure might be returning at Royal Rumble, and now WrestlingNews.co has reported which two Superstars will be stepping inside. According to the site's sources, Edge and Finn Balor will be stepping into hell together on January 28, 2023. Not just any version of Balor either, but the Demon gimmick the Irishman hasn't used for more than three years.

Edge and Balor being the ones to clash inside Hell in a Cell, if the match type really is set to return at Royal Rumble, certainly makes sense. Almost every time The Rated R Superstar has attempted to get revenge on the man who ousted him as the leader of The Judgment Day, the rest of the group has been lurking to make sure Balor gets the upper hand.

Edge And Balor's History

Edge has been absent from WWE TV since losing to Balor in an I Quit match at Extreme Rules. The Hall of Famer was forced to quit when Rhea Ripley lined up a concerto on Beth Phoenix, a move she went ahead and hit anyway even after Edge gave The Judgement Day what they wanted. Needless to say, Edge will be pretty fired up when he returns, and Hell in a Cell will give him the chance to punish Balor without getting interrupted.

It's believed WWE has decided to scrap the Hell in a Cell premium live event it has held every year from 2009 until this past June. If the match is used at Royal Rumble, that might well confirm the match type won't have its own event anymore. As for Demon Finn getting an outing, three years definitely feels like a long enough gap to make an appearance feel special, especially on a stage as big as Royal Rumble.
