Roman Reigns will be working a reduced schedule going forward on his new WWE contract.

There was speculation that Reigns would soon leave WWE following a babyface promo in Trenton New Jersey, where he told the crowd that he was beginning a new phase in his career and that he was unsure if he'd be back there. But as previously noted, The Tribal Chief recently signed a new deal with the company which includes less working dates (including pay-per-views).

Speaking on Sunday Night’s Main Event (h/t WrestlingNews.co), Dave Meltzer provided more details on Reigns' WWE contract. Meltzer believes that Reigns' WWE schedule will be "very similar to" the one Brock Lesnar works in WWE. Specifically, Meltzer said it'll be "in the sense that he will do big pay-per-views like the stadium shows and he will do the TV’s to build the big pay-per-views."

Last week, Meltzer also noted that Reigns will not be competing at the upcoming HIAC June 6 pay-per-view (at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois). According to Meltzer, his next scheduled title defense is against Drew McIntyre at Money in the Bank 2022 (on July 2). That show will be held at Allegiant Stadium (home of the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders) in Paradise, Nevada.

The Tribal Chief will presumably also be featured at SummerSlam 2022, another stadium event (Nissan Stadium) that will run on July 30 in Nashville, Tennessee. He is also being advertised for Clash at the Castle, which will run on Sept. 3 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

WWE Apparently Plans To Push Roman Reigns As The Next Brock Lesnar

Meltzer reported in last week's edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), that WWE is seemingly planning to push the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion "into a new Lesnar" with a limited working schedule. Reigns hit the 600-day mark as the Universal Champion last month, and he hasn't been pinned in over 800 days. Reigns has outlasted several prominent stars during his title reign, including Lesnar, John Cena, Hall of Famers Goldberg and Edge, Big E, Kevin Owens and McIntyre.
