Another year is coming to an end which gives us and the rest of the wrestling world a chance to look back and reflect on what has happened in the business. The best matches, the biggest impacts, and the moments that will live on in our memories well beyond the end of 2021. It's also a chance to acknowledge the hardest workers, and according to Cage Match, there has been no harder worker across WWE and AEW than Drew McIntyre.

93 Matches In 2021

The Scottish Psychopath has wrestled an impressive 93 matches in 2021, winning 72 of them which is also a 2021 record. Bianca Belair picks up a very respectable second place wrestling 82 matches, while Jey Uso and Riddle round out the top three with 80 matches each. No one even came close to McIntyre in terms of wins, though. Big E picks up the silver medal with 58, and Riddle gets bronze with 56.

McIntyre kicked off his 2021 by defending the WWE Title on Raw against Keith Lee. That match alone, and the one McIntyre will compete in to kick off 2021, just goes to show how much things can change in a year. McIntyre is no longer WWE Champion, of course, and his first match of 2022 will be somewhat of a nothing bout against Madcap Moss at Day 1. Plus, the man he defended the title against on January 4 is no longer with the company.

AEW's Award Is Still Up For Grabs

AEW's total match numbers aren't quite as high. The three-year-old promotion doesn't run that many live events and has fewer PPVs though, so it adds up. Jungle Boy currently holds the title for most AEW matches in 2021 having competed 52 times. With two shows to go before the end of the year, that could all change. Evil Uno and Tay Conti have both wrestled 51 matches, while Max Caster is sat on 50. That title could slip away from Jungle Boy depending on what happens during this week's Dynamite and Rampage.

As for most wins, Conti likely already has that title tied up. 43 victories in 2021 compared to Orange Cassidy's 40. Unless Cassidy wrestles multiple matches on a show this week, then the Brazilian star's record is safe. Conti has had a pretty remarkable year in AEW. Not just because she compete for the Women's Title on PPV, but the transformation she's made since signing with the promotion has been remarkable.
