13 * Eddie Guerrero vs. Kurt Angle (WWE WrestleMania 20, 3/14/2004) - 8.36

Eddie Guerrero vs. Kurt Angle (WWE WrestleMania 20, 3/14/2004)

At February 2004’s No Way Out, Eddie Guerrero dethroned Brock Lesnar to capture the top prize in pro wrestling (WWE Championship) — the same night that Kurt Angle won a Triple Threat match to earn a title shot at WrestleMania 20. The result was a 21-minute battle, praised by Cagematch users for the duo’s chemistry despite a difference in-ring style, as well as the technical grappling that opened the bout. Ultimately, the match would end with Guerrero pulling a fast one to successfully retain the WWE Championship, though the victory would be overshadowed by Chris Benoit’s monumental title win in the main event.

12 * 2005 Royal Rumble (WWE Royal Rumble, 1/30/2005) - 8.45

2005 Royal Rumble (WWE Royal Rumble, 1/30/2005)

The 2005 Royal Rumble — Eddie Guerrero’s final entry into the signature match — had Guerrero entering at #1 and sticking around for 28 minutes, scoring four eliminations before getting eliminated himself by Edge. Otherwise, this proved to be a pretty eventful rumble, with Guerrero, Chris Benoit, and Hardcore Holly basically hazing Tough Enough winner Daniel Puder in the ring and the infamous botched finish where John Cena and Batista both eliminated themselves and Vince McMahon legitimately tore his quads trying to get to the ring. Despite — or maybe because of — the finish, many Cagematch users consider this one to be a top-tier rumble.

11 * Chris Benoit vs. Eddie Guerrero (WWE Vengeance, 7/27/2003) - 8.49

Chris Benoit vs. Eddie Guerrero (WWE Vengeance, 7/27/2003)

In 2003, WWE held a tournament to crown a new United States Champion after a near-two-year period of being inactive, with finalists Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit opening up the 2003 edition of the Vengeance pay-per-view. After much back and forth on equal grounds, eventually Rhyno would interfere after a ref bump, giving Guerrero the advantage and ultimately the US belt.

10 Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio (WWE SmackDown, 6/23/2005) - 8.59

Eddie-Guerrero-Rey-Mysterio-2005-Smackdown

This match was just under two months before Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio's legendary match involving the custody of Mysterio's son Dominik at SummerSlam. The feud had boiled over as Guerrero was beginning to be jealous of Mysterio's success, even costing him a WWE championship opportunity against then-champion JBL.

In 2005, Smackdown was having some of the best matches of the year each week. This match is no exception as it's a classic Mysterio vs. Guerrero bout, going just over 20 minutes, with Mysterio picking up the victory. Guerrero would up the stakes and invoke Mysterio's real-life son into the feud two months later.

9 Chris Benoit vs. Eddie Guerrero vs. Edge vs. Kurt Angle (WWE SmackDown, 12/5/2002) - 8.59

Eddie-Guerrero-Edge-Kurt-Angle-Chris-Benoit

Smackdown in 2002 involved the famous SmackDown Six, which comprised Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Edge, Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio, and Chavo Guerrero. These men were known for putting on classic matches every week on SmackDown. It almost seems too obvious that if four of the six wrestled in the same match, it was going to be special, and it was.

This match was a fatal four-way to become the #1 contender for Big Show's WWE Championship at Armageddon, and what transpired was a showcase of their best skill sets. The end was Angle hitting the Angle Slam off the top rope on Edge and pinning him to earn his spot at the PPV.

8 Eddie Guerrero vs. John Bradshaw Layfield (WWE Judgment Day, 5/16/2004) - 8.61

JBL and Eddie Guerrero fighting in ring

It's a bit sad that the main thing that is remembered from this match is the blood spilled in the ring. It is a shocking amount of blood, but this is an excellent match by both Guerrero and JBL.

Eddie came in as the champion to the challenger JBL. Guerrero blades in this match, and it goes wrong as blood pours from Eddie's head. JBL attempts to bring in Guerrero's WWE undisputed championship to cheat, but Eddie hits JBL with it and gets himself disqualified but remains champion. Guerrero continues to fight JBL after the match, with the show ending with a shot of Guerrero's covered in blood and the fans on their feet chanting his name.

7 Eddie Guerrero vs. Edge (WWE SmackDown, 9/26/2002) - 8.62

Eddie Guerrero and Edge were both having one hell of a year in 2002, and their feud this year was one to remember. Guerrero and Edge squared off at SummerSlam and Unforgiven before going at it in this No Disqualification match. With it being a Smackdown show, nobody would have been upset if it was just a decent contest; instead, the two tore the house down.

Guerrero and Edge utilized a ladder for much of the match, and Edge was able to pick up a victory after suplexing Eddie from the ropes off the ladder. It was good enough to receive an 8.62 match rating from Cagematch.net and a four-and-a-half star rating from Dave Meltzer.

6 Eddie Guerrero vs. Kurt Angle (WWE SmackDown, 4/14/2005) - 8.77

Eddie Guerrero vs Kurt Angle smackdown

The best-rated Eddie Guerrero Smackdown match is this one with the Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle. Guerrero and Angle proved to be on the top of their game in this match, pulling off reversals, suplexes, and trading off their signature moves to best each other.

However, Rey Mysterio got involved in the match, which would lead to their feud, as it was enough of a distraction to Guerrero for Angle to push Mysterio with his chair into Guerrero and get the victory over Latino Heat.

5 Black Tiger & The Great Sasuke vs. Shinjiro Otani & Wild Pegasus (NJPW Super Grade Tag League 4 - Day 9, 10/18/1994) - 8.82

Black-Tiger-Powerboming-Shinjiro-Otani

This NJPW tag team match is a classic, featuring four incredible wrestlers. This match would take place about four months from another match on this list that features Guerrero and Benoit. Both teams were battling in the final of the Super Grade Junior Heavyweight Tag League, and they gave it their all.

The match starts super hot as Otani and Pegasus begin to attack Tiger and Sasuke before the bell even starts, and the action spills out to the outside and utilizes chairs quickly. Otani picked up the win for his team, pinning Eddie in a match that left all four competitors tired and bruised. The ceremony commences with Otani and Pegasus holding trophies and Pegasus and Tiger shaking hands in respect. A similar shot would be seen at the end of WrestleMania 20.

4 Brock Lesnar vs. Eddie Guerrero (WWE No Way Out, 2/15/2004) - 9.01

The outcome of this match at No Way Out results in one of the biggest pops you'll hear in wrestling. Guerrero was a white-hot baby face attempting to ascend to the top of WWE. However, to do so, Guerrero had to defeat the beast, Brock Lesnar, to capture the WWE Championship for the first time in his historic career.

RELATED: 8 Things Fans May Not Know About Eddie GuerreroAfter nearly 30 minutes of wrestling, Guerrero raised up to the top rope to hit his signature frog splash, and everyone inside the Cow Palace was on their feet. The moment the referee counted to three, the venue game unglued, and the celebration of decades of hard-working and dedication came pouring out. Guerrero would hold the title until The Great American Bash, where he would lose it to JBL.

3 Black Tiger vs. Wild Pegasus (NJPW Best Of The Super Junior 3 - Day 17, 6/11/1996) - 9.02

Black Tiger vs. Wild Pegasus NJPW Best of the Super Juniors 1994.

It should come as no surprise that putting Eddie Guerrero inside a New Japan Pro Wrestling ring will result in some of the best wrestling fans will ever see. This list has already seen a Black Tiger vs. Wild Pegasus match in this list, but this match is regarded even higher as it's their solo bout. Guerrero donned the Black Tiger gimmick at the time, rival to Tiger Mask, to go up against Wild Pegasus, who'd later be known as Chris Benoit.

This match is an inspiration, and its influence can be seen in just about every BOSJ match from this moment on. Although Benoit would pick up the victory over Guerrero here, it would not be their last match against each other, as their future was connected for the next decade.

2 Eddie Guerrero & Love Machine vs. El Hijo del Santo & Octagon (AAA When Worlds Collide, 11/6/1994) - 9.06

Eddy Guerrero & Love Machine vs. El Hijo del Santo & Octagon- AAA When Worlds Collide.

A legendary match that was rated five stars by Dave Meltzer back in 1994. Eddie Guerrero and his tag partner, Art Barr, a.k.a. Love Machine, wagered their hair against El Hijo del Santo & Octagon for their masks. The stipulation is a two out of three falls, with the tempo and pace perfect throughout the match, and keeps fans wanting more.

After picking up the first pinfall, Guerrero and Barr fall in the next bout as they are submitted. The fans are cheering heavily against Guerrero and Barr, as Guerrero shows off his heel abilities in this match. The last fall was one by Santo & Octagon, and it is remembered as one of the best matches to this day. Barr sadly passed away just 17 days after this match.

1 Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio Jr. (WCW Halloween Havoc, 10/26/1997) - 9.42

Rey Mysterio Vs. Eddie Guerrero Halloween Havoc 1997

Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio have numerous classic matches, as this list already has one of the matches in the top ten. There are countless others, such as the SummerSlam bout in 2005 or the Judgment Day match the same year. However, there is no match between the two, quite like their mask vs. title match at Halloween Havoc.

Guerrero plays the dastardly heel, at many times attempting to rip Mysterio's mask off, exposing his face. Mysterio is the ultimate babyface, attempting to keep what makes him complete. The high-flying and technical ring work displayed in this match is a perfect example of what made WCW so good at this time. Mysterio left with the WCW Cruiserweight Championship that night, and the world left knowing that these two were some of the best in the world.
