Edge was kicked out of The Judgment Day during this week's episode of WWE Raw, just two months after starting up the stable with Damian Priest.

Before Raw aired, it was announced that a new member would join the faction. Finn Balor was introduced as the fourth member, joining Priest and Ripley. In a stunner, the three worked together in attacking the WWE Hall of Famer and stable leader, thus forcing Edge out of the group.

According to a report from Fightful Select (h/t WrestlingNews.co), WWE wanted to bring "supernatural" components into The Judgment Day. Edge, however, was against this idea. It was noted by Fightful that there were discussions about about a swerve in the hours ahead of Raw this week.

On top of that, Fightful added that there were already plans for Balor to make the switch to heel before this week's show, though there weren't any discussions about having Edge being booted out of the group. As previously noted, WWE is reportedly internally listing Edge as a babyface on Raw.

The Edge-Priest alliance began at WrestleMania 38 after the latter helped The Rated-R Superstar defeat AJ Styles in their singles match. Priest was issued a ringside ban for the Edge-Styles rematch at WrestleMania Backlash one month later, but Ripley interfered in the bout to help the Hall of Famer win. She was subsequently welcomed into the stable.

Kicking Edge Out Of Judgment Day Was A Fascinating Twist

Edge announced on the May 16 episode of Raw that any talent who wanted to join The Judgment Day was welcome. This was one of many indicators that Edge would be the leader of this stable long-term, and the faction in general seemed to be well-received by many fans. The decision to kick him out and make Edge a babyface again was an unexpected swerve, to say the least, but it was also a wise call since WWE needs more babyfaces on its flagship program.
