If you ask us, there's not nearly enough coverage of women's hockey. Not only does the sport of hockey go widely unrecognized outside of Canada, there are some extremely talented female hockey players all over the world who don't get the credit they deserve as tough and fierce athletic competitors. From Germany to Hungary, Switzerland, and Sweden, to the U.S.A and Canada, hockey's reach is global.
Can we also say, there are some extremely attractive women playing hockey these days? If we didn't do a sufficient job of selling the skill of the women's game, perhaps we can encourage you to check out the game by watching the women themselves. After all, the sport isn't shy about showing off something they think might bring eyeballs to the product and if you decide to watch women's hockey for the women themselves, at least they got your attention. You might not know it under the helmets and masks but once you see the beautiful women underneath, you'll definitely find a new level of respect for the women who play the sport. Some of the most attractive women in sports play hockey. Don't believe us? Check out our list below.
The following list are 15 Female Hockey Players Who Could Melt The Ice. We didn't rank them or put them in any particular order. We'll let you do that. Feel free to comment on who you think takes the top spot. We could make a case for any of these ladies being numero uno.
15 Kelly Terry
If there was going to be an award for cute, Kelly Terry would get it. She's still steamy and could melt the ice but she also has that neighbor next door feel to her and she's kind of adorable. As per her Wikipedia page, "Terry is a former women's ice hockey player for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. She made her debut with the Canada women's national ice hockey team at the 2014 Four Nations Cup."
She's also been a big part of Team Canada's success as part of the National Women’s Under-18 Team team that won a gold medal at the 2010 IIHF World Women’s Under-18 Championship. Her accolades sort of stop as of 2015, but she's still extremely attractive and even if she doesn't win another award in hockey, she's got a permanent home on our list.
14 Hilary Knight
God bless the U.S.A. That was kind of cheesy, I'm sorry. But there isn't much doubt that Hilary Knight is not only incredibly good looking, but she's also a fantastic hockey player for the United States women's national hockey team.
Her accolades read like a laundry list of amazing awards. She won the 2013 CWHL Most Outstanding Player Award, named the 2015-16 NWHL regular-season scoring champion and won a ton of other awards between 2009 and 2011. One of her more recent awards was being named the 2015 IIHF World Women's Championship Tournament MVP. She's a great talent and she's good looking. How could we start the list with anyone else? The rest of the ladies in this group will have some lofty expectations to live up to. We'll see if they can!
13 Meeri Raisanen
Really, we should have called this list the 15 most likely female goaltenders to melt the ice. Our list is almost completely full of them. Meeri Raisanen is right up there with the best of them and makes our list as someone who plays for the Finnish national team. While she was selected for the 2014 Winter Olympic team, she didn't see any game action.
As for women who have achieved the most in hockey since their on-ice careers began, Meerie is perhaps the least accomplished for having so much experience but that is no reason to keep her off our list of the most attractive women to melt the ice. Her inclusion here is a no-brainer. She's still good enough to be considered one of the top players on her team and a 2015-16 All-star team selection.
12 Amanda Kessel
If you know Phil Kessel as the NHL hockey player from the Pittsburgh Penguins, you also know he has a bit of reputation for being the least in-shape hockey player in recent NHL history. He pokes fun at that reputation all the time by taking photos of himself on the golf course eating a hotdog. His little sister however, looks pretty darn good and isn't following in his footsteps.
Amanda Kessel is a huge women's hockey talent that almost had to call it quits. Some health scares and a potentially permanent injury forced an early retirement that she recently came out of to return to the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Now, she's back and kicking butt, most recently winning a Gold Medal at the 2017 IIHF Women's World Championship in Plymouth, Michigan.
11 Erika Grahm
We talk about how much goaltenders make this list, but what about Swedish hockey players? They seem to produce beautiful female hockey stars like they produce IKEA outlets. Erika Grahm is a forward for the Swedish women's national ice hockey team but she could just as well be a model. Clearly, she has the knack and willingness to pose for the cameras.
Now 26-years-old, her playing career may be winding down and she doesn't appear to have nearly the accolades some of the other women on this list do when it comes to hockey awards and appearances in national tournaments, but we can overlook that. If we were putting together a list of the most successful ice hockey women who looked fantastic, she might not make it. But, for her looks alone, she's a shoe-in.
10 Eveliina Suonpää
A Finnish female hockey player, Eveliina Suonpää has the kind of name you have to copy and paste to spell correctly but also has the looks of a supermodel dressed in hockey equipment. She is a goaltender who plays for her country's national ice hockey team and the University of Minnesota Duluth.
She grew up playing men's hockey and started at age four. From there, she went on to women's teams and hasn't looked back. During the 2014 Winter Olympics, she was chosen as the third-string goaltender. She's got the duck face working to perfection in the shot above. We always wonder what goalies do when the puck is down at the other end of the ice for extended periods of time. Maybe this face is something she works on when she's bored.
9 Halli Krzyzaniak
Here's a tongue-twister of a name for you. Meet Halli Krzyzaniak, a fantastic looking lady with a very difficult name to pronounce. We won't hold that against her though, as she is a real stunner. Krzyzaniak played hockey for the Canadian National Women's Under 18 team. A blue-liner hailing from Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. She won gold playing with the Canadian under-18 team in 2012 and after 2013, started playing for the University of North Dakota. She's played the game since a young age and said part of the reason she got so into hockey was that Brandon, Manitoba didn't have a lot of other options to keep her busy. She was familiar with the game as her uncle Rick Blight played for the Vancouver Canucks.
8 Viona Harrer
#VionaHarrer is a German #IceHockey Goaltender, who played for the Germany Womens National Ice Hockey Team. At a 2009 Womens 4 Nations Tournaments held in Slovakia, Harrer was named the tournaments Top Goaltender. #femaleathlete #sportswomen #womenpower #womeninspiration #womenmotivation #hottestathletes #womenathletes #olympians #instaathletes
If you want to hear about impressive, look no further than Viona Harrier. Harrier is a 21-year-old German female ice hockey goaltender who grew up playing on all men's teams like Team Tölzer Löwen and didn't just keep up, she stood out.
When she wasn't rocking the men's leagues, she played for the German women's national ice hockey team and became a star in the 2009 Slovakian tournament being named the top goalie at the Women's Four Nations event. She stands 5 feet 5 inches (165 cm), weighs 116 pounds and you can tell by looking at her photos, she's not just a talented goaltender, but she's a beautiful one. There must be something about playing goal and being beautiful. As you'll see, Harrier is not the only goaltender on our list.
7 Monique Lamoureux-Morando
We considered putting both Monique and her twin sister Jocelyne on this list, because if you put one, how can you not put the other that looks just like her? But we figured if you're seeing one, you already know the other and those coveted spots could go to another beauty.
Monique is a 6x World Champion, 2x Olympic Silver Medalist, and member of Team USA at the 2010 Winter Olympics. Both she and her sister were all-state athletes and Monique wound up playing for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, North Dakota Fighting Sioux and became a WCHA scoring champion and WCHA Rookie of the Year. If there was a hockey tournament that included U.S. female hockey players between the years of 2004 and 2012, Monique was probably a part of it.
6 Valentina Wallner
Again, we have another goaltender on our list and Valentina Wallner is right up there with some of the most attractive. Wallner is a Swedish net-minder whose playing career really kicked off strong in 2008. She appeared in the 2009 IIHF Women's World Championship (with an astounding goals-against average of 1.25)
In 2010, she was selected to the Swedish national women's Olympic team but didn't play. She made up for it in 2014 when she was selected again to go to Sochi, this time getting lots of game action. Like some of the others on this list, her playing career is still active but she's not done a lot worth noting in the last few years. We don't care. Another goalie, another beauty. This list is getting pretty ridiculous in that way.
5 Bailey Bram
Bailey Bram is definitely a cute one. A Canadian women's ice hockey player, she was selected to the Canadian women's national team that represented the country in the 2009 under-22 tournament and again in the 2012 IIHF tournament. She's scored some pretty big goals for Canada in her hockey career and she scores some pretty big points on our list of the most attractive women to melt the ice.
She played in the NCAA, the CWHL and for Hockey Canada between the years of 2007 and 2015. She's still a player but it appears her time in major tournaments might be close to done. If it is, she did ok though, winning over 20 different awards during her playing career. Beautiful and successful makes for a pretty sweet combination as far as our list goes.
4 Florence Schelling
Do I even have to say anything about this entry being another goaltender at this point?Florence Schelling is a Swiss goalie who appeared for the Switzerland women's national team during the 2006, 2010 and 2014 Olympics (in 2014, she won most valuable player, best goaltender and made the All-Star team). She's also the first woman ever to play on a men's national league B team.
She's won multiple defensive player of the week awards during her time in the NCAA, goalkeeper of the month and most outstanding goalie. Not only that, but she clearly has the looks and beauty enough to be included on our list. We're wondering if she literally did melt the ice in this photo. What looks like a pool might have at one time been a skating rink. She got near it and everything melted.
3 Anna Prugova
I know it's strange to be talking about gorgeous women and not have a bunch of photos of ladies in bikinis but for those who felt the ladies of hockey were a bit too tame for their pleasure, we've given you an entry that should make your mouth water. Anna Prugova is a Russian babe and she's not shy about showing it off. Oh ya, and she's another goalie.
She represented Russia at the 2010 Olympics and at the time she was only 16 years old. She was also part of the bronze medal team that appeared at the 2016 IIHF Women's World Championships. Some people would rank her number one on our list if we were to put them in any sort of order of hotness and we wouldn't put up much of an argument. She's extremely worthy of being the female player most likely to melt the ice.
2 Emerance Maschmeyer
Her name is Emerance Maschmeyer and she is considered one of the best goalies of her class. She made her debut at the Four Nations Cup for Canada in 2014 and ever since people have been keeping their eyes on her since her goalkeeping skills are pretty wicked.
Fun Fact: She was only the second female ever to compete in the Brick Tournament in Edmonton and some pretty big male hockey players have gone through that tourney. She played against her brother and stopped him in a shootout. She's won two gold medals as part of the Canada Winter Games and the Alberta Winter Games and has competed in three-straight IIHF World Championships for Canada.
1 Maggie Cory
Maggie Cory is the women's hockey goalie at Ohio State. She is a freshman and will make her debut this winter. She posted this profile photo of herself and the Internet went nuts. After she regretted doing so and was a little too gun-shy for that much attention, she made her social media accounts private.
This is the problem with being so good looking. You can't post a simple picture of yourself in a goaltender uniform without a bunch of people creeping on you and your picture being shared everywhere as the hottest female hockey player since Manon Rheaume. Thanks a lot guys. It's hard to find much in the way of photos of her now unless you're close and she willingly shares them with you.
