If there's one thing that all men can agree on, it's that women look amazing in a pair of yoga pants--and athletic women look especially amazing. Yoga pants are the next best thing to wearing nothing at all, as they leave little to the imagination. We here at TheSportster have a theory that the revealing clothing item was invented by men for men, tricking women into believing that they are fashionable. Oh sure they might be comfortable and practical for working out in, but that's not why they were originally designed.

But really, who invented yoga pants? What man (or woman, although who are we kidding, it was a man) do we have to think for this ingenious clothing item? There’s no clear answer to this question, although if it weren’t for the efforts of chemists Wallace Carothers, William Hanford, Donald Holmes, and Joseph C. Shivers (see, all men), who helped create the material commonly found in today’s yoga pants, they might never have existed. In particular, Shivers is responsible for the invention of Lycra (or Spandex), a stretchy material used in sportswear, swimsuits, undergarments, and, of course, yoga pants. So on behalf of men everywhere, we thank you, Dr. Shivers. You helped make the world a better place. If it weren’t for you, women would still be walking around in baggy pants, and men would be left having to use their imaginations to try and guess what lies beneath the clothing.

Science!

When it comes to female athletes and yoga pants, you really can't go wrong. But here's the list of the top 15 hottest athletes who sure know how to rock a pair of yoga pants.

15 15. Michelle Jenneke

Remember that viral video a while back of the dancing track athlete? Well that was Michelle Jenneke, an Australian hurdler and fitness model who made a name for herself after a video of her pre-race routine from the 2012 IAAF World Junior Championships appeared online. In the video, she can be seen smiling and bouncing around on the spot, with her long black ponytail whipping from side to side. Needless to say, it was sexy. So even though she’s never competed at an Olympic event (although that will soon change, as she did just qualify for the Rio Olympics), she’s still a famous athlete in her own right. Oh, and not surprisingly, she looks great in a pair of yoga pants, although we’d rather see her in a pair of those tiny, skintight shorts that female track athletes wear. General rule of thumb when it comes to female sportswear: less is more.

14 14. Hilary Knight

Hilary Knight is a member of the US Women’s hockey team. A combination of a playmaking/goal scoring forward, she helped lead the team to two silver medal Olympic finishes, tallying 8 points in 5 games in 2010 and 6 points in 5 games in 2014. Like Raisman, Knight posed nude, wearing only a pair of skates and a pearly white smile, for ESPN’s body issue. She also posed for Cosmopolitan wearing a pair of yoga pants and showing off her amazing 6-foot tall figure. Knight said during her interview with ESPN that she is proud to be feminine while still having muscles.

Outside of international competition, Knight is a member of the Boston Pride of the newly founded National Women’s Hockey League (NWHL). In her first season in the league, she scored a clip of nearly one goal per game and tallied an impressive 33 points in 17 games. Knight is the epitome of beauty and talent.

13 13. Jessica Ennis

Jessica Ennis is a British track and field star who specializes in the heptathlon. She holds the record in Britain for the 100-meter hurdles, and she took home the gold at the London Olympics for the heptathlon event. The heptathlon consists of seven different events, each designed to test the overall fitness of an athlete (i.e., strength, speed, endurance, etc.), and therefore heptathletes are generally considered to be some of the fittest athletes in the world. And Jessica Ennis is no exception. You can tell just by looking at her that she’s a world-class athlete. She’s often cited as having one of the best bodies in all of sports, and her best feature is her bulging six (or maybe even eight)-pack abs. Her success on the track led to a sponsorship with Adidas, and she modeled some of the clothing line’s yoga pants for a series of advertisements.

12 12. Ronda Rousey

Let’s put her looks aside for a moment. Before losing to Holly Holm at UFC 193, Rousey was arguably the most dominant female MMA fighter of all time. Aside from the Holm loss, her fights had only gone past the first round on one occasion, and it took her a combined total of just one minute and four seconds to dismantle Alexis Davis, Cat Zingano, and Bethe Correia. She’s also beaten the current bantamweight champion, Miesha Tate, in both of their fights, making Rousey the main contender for the title. We’re sure it’s only a matter of time before she’s back on top, especially now that she doesn’t have to go through Holm.

But now back to the more pressing matter at hand: her looks. More specifically, how does she look in a pair of yoga pants? The answer: pretty darn amazing. Who needs a bantamweight title when you look this good?

11 11. Maria Sharapova

Maria Sharapova’s tennis career has recently hit a bit of a speed bump after she tested positive for the banned substance meldonium. But before that she was one of the most dominant players in the world, next perhaps only to Serena Williams. And like Williams, she has more than her fair share of male admirers. With her long, lean frame and her beautiful golden hair, Sharapova is like the Gisele Bundchen of the tennis world. Sharapova, who had her sponsorship with Nike and several other high profile brands suspended due to her positive drug test, likes to stay in shape when not on the court, so it’s no surprise that she looks incredible in a pair of yoga pants. Unfortunately, due to the lengthy suspension handed down by the International Tennis Federation (two years!), we may never see her on the tennis court again. I guess that means we’ll just have to check out her Instagram page to get our daily dosage of Sharapova hotness.

10 10. Dana Linn Bailey

Mainstream sports fans might not know who Dana Linn Bailey is, but bodybuilding fans sure will. Bailey is one of the most popular female bodybuilders in the world, with over one and a half million followers on Instagram alone. The reason for her popularity? She’s pretty hot, if you can get past all the duckface pictures. All those sets of heavy squats have sure paid off, as she looks incredible in a pair of yoga pants. We wouldn’t exactly say she has a booty, as it’s more like a well-defined gluteus maximus, but either way, it’s fun to look at.

The only question: Is it wrong to be strong? You be the judge. We say it’s not. The definition of feminine beauty is constantly changing, and most recently strong muscular women have been all the rage. If that means we’ll get a world full of Dana Linn Bailey’s, then we’re okay with it.

9 9. Aly Raisman

Aly Raisman is often overshadowed by fellow American gymnast hottie McKayla Maroney. But we here at TheSportster think that’s just not fair. Raisman is just as successful, with two gold medals and one bronze medal from the London Olympics, and she’s just as hot—if not hotter—than Maroney. Don’t take our word for it, just check out her photos from the latest issue of ESPN The Magazine’s body issue. Wearing nothing but some tape and a bit of chalk, Raisman proudly shows off her amazing muscular physique. So while it’s a shame that she has to cover it up at times, at least yoga pants is the next best thing.

Raisman is vying for a spot on the 2016 Olympic team, and should she do so, she would be the first American gymnast to make consecutive Olympic appearances since 2000. Hopefully she’s able to pull it off, as we’d love to see more of her.

8 8. Serena Williams

Serena Williams is arguably the greatest female tennis player of all time. She absolutely dominates the sport like no other player ever has. In fact, she’s so dominant that some have even made the case that she should be considered the greatest all-around female athlete of all time. Serena isn’t like most other female tennis players. She’s big, strong, and muscular. And she’s not afraid to show off her athletic build, especially in a pair of yoga pants. Many a male sports fan have ogled at her, shall we say, backside. Seriously, this woman looks like she could squat a small truck.

At 34 years of age, Williams is showing no signs of slowing down. She had one of her best years in 2015, winning three of the four Grand Slam tournaments and earning the title of Sportsperson (not just Sportswoman) of the Year by Sports Illustrated magazine.

7 7. Miesha Tate

Miesha Tate recently stunned the UFC world by submitting Holly Holm in the UFC bantamweight championship bout back in March 2016 at UFC 196. Holm, who was just coming off an impressive win against the previously undefeated Rousey, was considered by most to be the heavy favorite in the fight. Tate’s win cemented her status as one of the premier fighters in all of mixed martial arts, and it only helped to increase her already quite substantial celebrity status. A big reason why she is so popular amongst UFC fans is the fact that she’s hot. Tate is one of the most attractive female fighters in all of mixed martial arts. Thanks to an intense fitness regimen, she has an incredible body, and one that is perfect for yoga pants.

Tate’s next fight will be against Brazilian Amanda Nunes, who’s sporting a record of 12-4. Nunes is currently ranked 4th in the bantamweight division, so she should prove to be a tough opponent for Tate.

6 6. Paige VanZant

Paige VanZant has often been called the hottest female fighter in mixed martial arts. And you won’t see us arguing with that (in fact, she came in at number one on our list of the 20 hottest women in MMA, narrowly beating out Miesha Tate). Aside from her cute as a button face, VanZant has an incredible athletic figure. It’s clear just by looking at her that she doesn’t take her training lightly. Although not overly muscular, she still has an athletic look, with a particularly impressive midsection. While we’d rather see her wearing next to nothing like she does during her weigh-ins, which are a spectacle in and of themselves, we also don’t mind seeing her in a pair of yoga pants showing off her small yet powerful legs. You could say that VanZant, who comes from a family of dancers and competed on the latest season of Dancing with the Stars, has dancer’s legs. She’s one dancer who can deliver a deadly spinning kick.

5 5. McKayla Maroney

McKayla Maroney caught the attention of all of America, including President Barack Obama, back in 2012 when she competed in the London Summer Olympics. A photograph of her sporting a less-than-excited expression went viral, catapulting Maroney into Internet stardom. In the four years that have passed since the Olympics, she has turned into quite the attractive young woman, and she’s not afraid to show off her athletic figure in revealing pictures on social media. Unfortunately, citing health concerns, Maroney retired from competitive gymnastics in 2016.

So what’s McKayla going to do now that she’s no longer a gymnast? Well, judging by her Instagram photos, it seems as though she could have a promising career in fitness modeling. She’s also shown a desire to break into acting. She made her acting debut on the television show Bones and followed it with a recurring role on Hart of Dixie. Whatever she decides to do, hopefully she’ll remain in the public eye.

4 4. Alex Morgan

Alex Morgan is a member of the Olympic gold medalist women’s US soccer team. If it weren’t for her, the team might not have made it to the finals, as she was the one who scored the winning goal in extra time against Canada in the semifinals. Morgan is one of the more recognizable faces from the team, not just because she’s a great player but also because she’s attractive and has a fun personality. A lot was made of her incredible body shortly after the Olympics, as she appeared in Sports Illustrated wearing tiny bikinis and body paint. She also appeared in a Nike photo shoot wearing a pair of yoga pants, and it was just as amazing as you’d expect.

It won’t be long before we get to see more of this beautiful woman. She’s expected to play a key role in the 2016 Rio Olympics, as Team USA looks to defend their gold medal.

3 3. Paige Spiranac

At the moment, Paige Spiranac is more of a social media celebrity than a professional golfer. But that could soon change. She recently graduated from San Diego State University and is looking to break into the pro ranks by gaining her LPGA card. In the meantime, she’s been gaining a lot of fans through her Instagram account by regularly posting sexy selfies that show off her perfect body. Apparently when she’s not golfing she’s practicing for her fallback career as a model. One look at this woman’s figure and it’s no wonder that she’s so high on this list of athletes who know how to rock a pair of yoga pants.

Golf Digest recently found themselves in hot water when they decided to put Spiranac on the cover of their magazine despite her not even being in the top 300 of NCAA female golfers. We’re guessing that the majority of people complaining about the cover were not men.

2 2. Lindsey Vonn

Before she was Lindsey Vonn Tiger Woods’s girlfriend (now ex-girlfriend), she was Lindsey Vonn Olympic gold medalist alpine skier. Woods must have a thing for hot blondes, because Vonn bears a slight resemblance to his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren (although, come to think of it, who isn’t into hot blondes?). You’ve got to hand it to Tiger. He was able to bounce back from a messy public divorce and hookup with a beautiful, and much younger, woman. Vonn posed au naturel(with just a bit of body paint) for the 2016 Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition. She’s kind of got a Ronda Rousey thing going on, so obviously she looks good in yoga pants.

Due to a number of injuries, Vonn was unable to compete for a much of the past years, but she’s been back on the slopes since 2015 and has already placed in a number of competitions. She got off to a hot start in 2016, winning her first three races.

1 1. Eugenie Bouchard

Canadian Eugenie Bouchard’s tennis career has been on a bit of a decline after her surprising run to the finals at the 2014 Wimbledon Championships. Some believe that she let her newfound celebrity status go to her head, causing her to lose focus on her game. Thankfully Bouchard, who was born in Montreal and trains out of Miami Beach, Florida, is only 22 years old, so there’s still plenty of time for her to get back her form. And if she doesn’t, there’s always a career in fitness modeling waiting for her. It’s just too bad that she’s into guys like Justin Bieber.

Following a dangerous fall in the locker room at the US Open that left her unable to compete for several months, Bouchard is looking to revitalize her career in 2016. Unfortunately, however, she’s struggled to recapture the success that she had in 2014.
