15 Tennis Players Dating Way Out Of Their League

Get ready to see some of the luckiest guys in the tennis world because here are 15 tennis players dating way out of their league.

Out of all the individual sports, tennis might actually be the most popular one. As a matter of fact, if you Google "world’s most popular sports," tennis comes in third, right behind soccer and cricket. So yeah, if you’re a football-loving American you might be a little pissed off to find out that your favorite sport is not even in the top 10 of the world, ranking behind the likes of field hockey and table tennis.

Nevertheless, our topic for today is tennis and most specifically the lives of tennis players outside of the court. These are guys who make millions and millions of dollars out of tournament prizes, sponsorships and many other sources of income. So one can safely imagine that with all this money, a lot of athletes who would not be able to score a supermodel if they were a regular human being might now have a chance. And we found out that this is true. We’ve seen basketball, football, and baseball players who were not the best looking of guys dating some of the most beautiful women in the world. Tennis players don’t escape that rule.

Like in any other sport, there are a ton of guys who were and are dating way out of their league. From the best players in the world to some names you won’t even recognize, get ready to see some of the luckiest guys in the tennis world because here are 15 tennis players dating way out of their league.

15 Juan Monaco (Zaira Nara)

via glanacion.com

We will start our list with a relationship from the past. Zaira Nara is an Argentinian model and TV host who was once touted by FHM magazine as one of the 50 sexiest women in the world back in 2010. With that on her resume, many people would rightfully assume that she can pick and choose from whichever guys she wants to date. And that is what makes it more amazing that she dated fellow countryman and tennis player, Juan Monaco.

Monaco is not the best looking of guys, and he hasn’t even had a grand slam victory to boast to other people about. Nevertheless, the one thing he can brag about is that he managed to date Zaira from 2011 all the way to 2014. He also earned a little over $8 million in prize money over his career, so that has to have helped.

14 David Ferrer (Marta Tornel)

via telva.com

David Ferrer was and still is one of the greatest tennis players in the world. He has won almost $30 million in tournament prize money, has 26 titles on his resume and even got to rank third in the world back in 2013. So you might be asking yourself why a guy like that would be on a list like this?

It's all because his wife is absolutely stunning. Ferrer is far from being the ugliest dude on this list but compared to his wife he doesn’t quite measure up. Marta Tornel and David were longtime friends and ended up getting married on November 2015, when the rest of the world managed to get a good look at his wife, and the jaws dropped. Not only beautiful, but she's also smart and has a degree in optometry.

13 Rafael Nadal (Maria Francisca Perello)

via ucoz.com

Rafael Nadal is one of those guys who could have anything he wants. He is arguably one of the best players in the history of tennis. The man has won more than 70 titles and doesn’t seem to be slowing down even as he reached the 30-year-old mark. If we only count his prize winnings, Nadal has made over $80 million. With all that information, many people would get to the conclusion that he would marry some kind of supermodel that other guys could only dream of. And that is where most people would be wrong. Rafael ended up dating his childhood sweetheart Maria Francisca Perello.

She is no supermodel nor is she as famous as her sweetheart, but Maria sure has been the reason behind many broken hearts in the world of tennis, so she deserves a solid spot on our list.

12 Pete Sampras (Bridgette Wilson)

via yardbaker.com

Pete Sampras is in a world of his own. The man is a tennis legend. During his career, he won 64 titles and had a whopping 77.43 percent winning percentage throughout his time as a tennis player. He is a Hall of Famer, and you will find no one to question his place on the Olympus of tennis. With that in mind, it is easy to imagine he would score a beautiful woman. But even with all his winnings and glory, Sampras' looks are what makes it amazing that he married Bridgette Wilson. Yes, a tennis legend is the guy who ended up with Sonya Blade from the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie. So yes, this tennis legend was not only the envy of those whom he faced on the court but also of the many men who wish they had a shot with his wife.

11 Tommy Haas (Sara Foster)

via zimbio.com

Now we shift our list towards Europe, most specifically Germany, which is where a former number two tennis player in the world, Tommy Haas was born. Haas is another one of the legendary names on this list. He might have never made it to number one, but he won his fair share of titles and was always getting to the crucial parts of major tournaments.

And like he was on the court, Haas was also a lucky guy outside of it. Why? Because this lucky guy married American actress Sarah Foster. Haas knew very well how lucky he was so he even became an American citizen so he could always stay close to his beloved. Good for the two of them, they even have two children nowadays.

10 Sam Groth (Brittany Boys)

via thesun.co.uk

These two have been together for four years, and it seems like they will be together for a long time still to come. If we are to take into account Brittany Boys’ Instagram feed, you will have to admit that she is one of the most supportive partners an athlete could ever have. For one, she is also a tennis player who plays for the University of Richmond Spiders and is an avid workout fan as she posts many fit videos and pictures on her social media.

Good for Sam Groth, who at 29 years old is still chasing his first major title. So far his best ranking has been the 53rd place in the world a couple of years ago and is currently ranking in the number 198 spot. On his defense though, the man has two titles in doubles and has made over $1.5 million in prize money over his career.

9 Milos Raonic (Danielle Knudson)

via atpworldtour.com

At just 26 years of age, Milos Raonic is one of the best tennis players we have today. He currently ranks sixth in the world but has reached as high as number three in an age where guys like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic still play. He also has made almost $15 million just playing tennis.

With those factors in mind, it’s very possible to imagine him dating a supermodel. And that is exactly what happened. Since 2014, Raonic has been dating Canadian model Danielle Knudson. While her boyfriend travels all around the world to play tennis, Knudson doesn’t trail too far behind, as she posts very often on her Instagram from different parts of the world. Fair or not fair, we can say Milos is a pretty lucky guy.

8 Grigor Dimitrov (Nicole Scherzinger)

via justjared.com

Grigor Dimitrov is yet another young gun on our list. He’s just 25 years old but has already reached as high as the number eight spot in the world. Dimitrov currently sits at number 12 on the tennis world rankings and could be headed towards a breakout year.

What is most interesting about this guy though, is not what he does on the court, but who he spends his life with outside of the court.

It is no secret that Nicole Scherzinger is attracted to athletes. She had a long time relationship with Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton for almost eight years. And now she seems to be dating the Bulgarian Dimitrov. The most interesting part about this relationship though is their age difference as Scherzinger will turn 39 later in June. Despite that, she is still quite a catch for the young gun, so props to Dimitrov.

7 Andy Roddick (Brooklyn Decker)

via justjared.com

Andy Roddick was a master of the art of playing tennis. The Omaha, Nebraska native won several major titles and held the number one spot in the tennis rankings for a long time. He has made over $20 million in tournament earnings and had the potential to win much more. But his biggest career victory was when he married the American actress and model Brooklyn Decker.

The way they met was also rather odd. Apparently, Roddick first saw Decker on a website show for CNN and Sports Illustrated. After seeing her and being immediately drawn towards the one who would later become his wife, Roddick had his agent contact her agent and arrange their initial meeting. So his speed not only helped on his serves as he was notorious for, but it also played a good part in Roddick’s love life. Good for him.

6 Mahesh Bhupathi (Lara Dutta)

via waahtv.com

This is where you start getting mad. Mahesh Bhupathi made history when he became the first Indian player ever to win a grand slam tournament. Granted, it was not a singles tournament, it was a mixed doubles competition at the Australian Open back in 2006. When it comes to playing on his own Bhupathi has a career record of 10 wins and 28 losses.

Nevertheless, that one history-making moment in the doubles tournament seems to have been enough for a guy who certainly did not win the lottery for looks, to land a wife like Lara Dutta. She is an actress, model and a Miss Universe winner. They have been married since 2011 and have one kid. So next time you think that the world is an unfair place, go to a tennis court and start practicing because you could be the next Bhupathi.

5 Andy Murray (Kim Murray)

via 24news.today

Sir Andy Murray has risen to the status of British legend. He is the first British man to win a grand slam singles tournaments since 1936. That is ridiculous. This guy is the equivalent of the Chicago Cubs squad that finally ended the curse of Billy the Goat. But while he might be a legend in his own right, Murray is far from being the best-looking tennis player out there.

And that makes it all the more amazing that he is married to a woman as beautiful as Kim Sears, or is she is known these days: Kim Murray. Still, at the end of the day, their relationship is at least more comprehensible than a few of the other couples on this list. We have to consider that Murray is a Knight, and he has made almost $60 million in prize money over his career.

4 Jo-Wilfred Tsonga (Noura El Shwekh)

via voici.fr

Jo-Wilfred Tsonga is a very private person. Unlike many other athletes around the world, you wouldn't hear Tsonga talking much about his private life until recently. But when he started dating Noura El Shwekh, even someone as private as him could not avoid being asked as many questions as he was being bombarded with.

The couple began dating back in 2014, and just recently announced that they were expecting their first child. El Shwekh was born and raised in Switzerland, which makes sense since Tsonga lives in Geneva.

More than that, she seems to have been good for him in terms of his attitude towards the media. Because in earlier days he would be almost shy when talking about his personal life, and since he started dating her he seems more easy-going in front of the cameras.

3 Novak Djokovic (Jelena Djokovic)

via luxtogo.com

Novak Djokovic does not need any introductions. This man might just be the best tennis player of our time. He has the best match winning rate of the Open era with 82.8 percent of matches won. He has won 67 titles so far and was ranked the number one in the world for another pretty long period. Not only that, but Djokovic is also the all-time leader in earnings when it comes to tennis, as he has made more than $108 million in prize money alone.

So how does a guy like this date out of his league? The answer is easy: he married a girl he knew from high school and who just happens to be one of the more beautiful women any tennis player ever dated. Not only that, Jelena Djokovic spends a great deal of her time on philanthropic endeavors and sharing her love for education and animals. A fitting queen for the king of Serbian tennis.

2 Nick Kyrgios (Ajla Tomljanovic)

via nypost.com

A love created on the court, these two are both tennis players and are pretty good at what they do. Tomljanovic is a 23-year-old Croatian-Australian professional player who has been trying to improve her tournament results lately. She got to the women's top 50 ranking back in 2015, but this year she dropped to as low as 354.

Kyrgios, on the other hand, already has three titles in his career and at just 22 years old, is still rising through the ranks. This 6’4” Aussie is currently ranked number 15 in the world and has made over $4 million in prize money.

Still, while Kyrgios might be the most talented of the two, he is certainly lagging miles and miles behind his girlfriend when it comes to looks.

1 Tomas Berdych (Ester Satorova)

via monacoreporter.com

And at the top of our list, we have the number 12 player in the world, Tomas Berdych. This Czech Republic national has gone as far as being the number four player in the world in 2015. He has 13 career titles and has earned almost $27 million in prize money. He is not the ugliest of guys either, but in comparison to his wife, we might be looking at a beauty and the beast situation here.

It doesn’t matter how much money Berdych has made over the years, or how many tournaments he won, or even if he’s a good-looking guy. Because at the end of the day, any man would look like he was dating out of his league if his wife was Ester Satorova.
