Caroline Wozniacki has captured the interest of millions of tennis fans around the globe. Her infectious smile and outstanding play on the court have helped to make the 5-foot-10 beauty from Odense, Denmark an international star.
Wozniacki is attractive, athletic, and most definitely affluent. The Danish starlet has won over $23 million during the course of her career, which makes her the 8th most successful female tennis star of all time, in terms of prize money. Of course, the $23 million doesn't even take into account the money she has received from her numerous endorsement deals.
The 26-year-old is the first Scandinavian woman to be ranked number one in the world, a position she has previously held for a combined 67 weeks. Moreover, Wozniacki has also a won an eye-popping 25 WTA singles titles. She had also represented Denmark during in the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympic Games, which were held in Beijing and London respectively.
Caroline Wozniacki turned pro in 2005 and has been in the public eye ever since. She has had her share of defining moments on and off the court and also a few moments she would probably just as soon forget.
With that in mind, let's take a look at 8 pictures Caroline Wozniacki wants you to see And 7 she doesn’t.
15 Does: Modeling Project
When you are 5-foot-10 with flowing blonde hair and look like Caroline Wozniacki, then you can expect a few modeling gigs to come your way. The Danish tennis goddess agreed to show off her flawless physique and pose for the 2015 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. She joined an impressive list of tennis stars that previously appeared in the magazine, which include folks like Maria Sharapova and Ana Ivanovic.
The magazine must have liked what they saw from Wozniacki as she went on to pose again in both 2016 and 2017. It almost feels like Wozniacki is a regular swimsuit model at this point. Being asked to pose in for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue on three separate occasions is quite impressive. These are definitely images Wozniacki wants people to see.
14 Doesn't: Mocking Serena
The Danish tennis star can be a bit of a practical joker at times. During a 2012 exhibition match, Caroline Wozniacki stuffed a towel in her tank top and skirt in a playful effort to impersonate her slightly thicker friend, Serena Williams. Despite the fact that Wozniacki and Williams are close personal friends, some considered the display offensive and even racist.
However, Serena Williams came to her friend's defense by telling USA Today "I know Caro and I would call her my friend and I don't think (she) meant anything racist by it." On the other hand, she did go on to suggest that she probably shouldn't do it again. If one's actions can be considered racist that isn't a good thing. Regardless of her intent, it's very likely that Wozniacki wished the whole incident never occurred at all.
13 Does: Winning First WTA Tour Title
Winning your first WTA Tour title is an exciting moment for any professional tennis player. For Caroline Wozniacki, her first title came at the 2008 Nordic Light Open. The event took place in Stockholm, Sweeden and the matches were played on hard courts.
During the event, she defeated both Ana Isabel "Anabel" Medina Garrigues and her rival Agnieszka "Aga" Radwańska on her way to the finals. In the final match, Wozniacki faced Russian star Vera Dushevina. She would go on the defeat the Russian 6-0, 6-2 in two consecutive sets. This image captures a young Caroline Wozniacki celebrating the joyous occasion as she officially joins the ranks of pro tennis's elite female stars. This is without question a moment Wozniacki and her fans will go on to cherish for years to come.
12 Doesn't: Kangaroo Attack
Believe it or not, at one point in time, some media members felt Caroline Wozniacki was a dull interview. In order to spice things up a bit, the native of Odense decided to play a little prank on them. Apparently, Wozniacki decided to inform the media that her bandaged leg was the result of a vicious kangaroo attack. She claimed that a baby kangaroo had attacked her at a wildlife park. In truth, the cut on her leg was actually caused by the tennis star running into a treadmill. She later apologized to the media for misleading them.
After defeating Francesca Schiavone during the 2011 Australian Open, Wozniacki showed up at the press conference with an inflatable kangaroo to make further light of the situation. Wozniacki, who was wearing boxing gloves during the interview stated,"Now I'm actually ready to fight just in case it would actually attack me." Honestly, the entire ordeal was a bit silly.
11 Does: Friends With Serena
Serena Williams and Caroline Wozniacki have faced each other 11 times in singles competition. Unfortunately for Wozniacki, Williams has won 10 of the 11 contests. However, despite being rivals on the court, the two are actually close friends.
The tennis starlets have been spotted together at several events. The pair was even spotted attending a Mariah Carey concert in 2014. Moreover, when Wozniacki decided to run the New York City Marathon, Williams was there cheering her friend on. In fact, right after the Danish star's public breakup with golfer Rory McIlroy, the two headed off to Miami, Florida. If the cliche about "only being as good as the company you keep" is true, then Caroline Wozniacki would certainly want the world to know about her friend Serena Williams.
10 Doesn't: Wozzilroy
In 2011, Caroline Wozniacki began dating Irish pro golfer Rory Mcllroy. During the course of the relationship, the couple came to known collectively as Wozzilroy. In fact, the relationship was so serious that the two were even engaged for several months back in 2014. However, the golfer from Northern Ireland apparently got cold feet and decided to call off the wedding. They even issued wedding invitations prior to the breakup.
While it's always a bit sad to see young love die, at least we won't have to hear one of the worst couple nicknames of all time...as often. It's very plausible that Wozniacki would just as soon put the pre-wedding break-up behind her. There may have been some photos like the one above, that found their way into Caroline Wozniacki's fireplace.
9 Does: Rivalry With Agnieszka Radwańska
Unlike other professional athletes, Caroline Wozniacki doesn't seem to mind being friends with her rivals. Besides Serena Williams, she is also friends with her on-court adversary Agnieszka Radwańska. The rivalry has been fairly competitive with Wozniacki winning 10 of their 16 singles contests. In fact, the two met last February at the 2017 Qatar Total Open, with Wozniacki emerging the victor on that occasion.
It's always a classy move to have your photo taken with one of your biggest rivals. The two friends look stunning in their dresses while taking a leisurely stroll down the sidewalk. This is an image that both women would probably love for people to see. That being said, you have to wonder if any these ladies engage in any playful trash talk when the two tennis stars get together.
8 Doesn't: Failed Prank
Caroline Wozniacki is definitely an athlete that doesn't take herself too seriously. In fact, at times the Danish star can be quite the practical joker. Her pranking skills (or lack thereof) were on full display during the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells back in 2012.
While her rival Maria Sharapova was being interviewed, Wozniacki snuck up behind her with an inflated balloon. She attempted to jump on the balloon (in hopes the noise would scare Sharapova) but completely missed her target. She tried two more times to pop the balloon but failed, as Sharapova turned around and caught her mid-prank. The two went on to share a slightly awkward laugh. You can bet that Caroline Wozniacki wants to be remembered for her tennis game and not her balloon-popping skills.
7 Does: Dating David Lee
Caroline Wozniacki is currently dating NBA star and San Antonio Spurs power forward David Lee. Lee is a two-time All-Star who helped his former team the Golden State Warriors capture the NBA Championship back in 2015. There aren't too many men out there who can say they are a foot taller than the 5-foot-10 Wozniacki, but the 6-foot-9 basketball star nearly fits the bill. The couple made it official on Valentine's Day 2017 when Wozniacki posted that the two were an item on Instagram.
Wozniacki is probably glad to let the world know that she's moved on since the whole Wozzilroy debacle. Let's hope we can avoid another terrible celebrity couple nickname this time. After all, Wozlee doesn't exactly have a ring to it.
6 Doesn't: Maria Sharapova Rivalry
Maria Sharapova has faced Caroline Wozniacki in singles competition 10 times. Sharapova has gotten the better of the series thus far with a record of 6-4 against the Odense native. That being said, it should be noted that Wozniacki is 2-0 against the Russian in Grand Slam tournaments.
Unlike some of her other rivals, Wozniacki is not a close personal friend of Sharapova's. In fact, she was critical of Sharapova being able to return at 2017 Porsche Grand Prix after her suspension for a failed drug test and made comments to that effect during the BNP Paribas Open. It probably isn't fun seeing images with you and rival when you're 4-6 against them. 5 Does: 30-Foot Putt
Caroline Wozniacki nearly upstaged her then-boyfriend Rory Mcllroy at the Masters back in 2014. Wozniacki, who was serving as Mcllroy's caddie, showed up with hot pink hair. However, it wasn't the Danish tennis star's hair that stole the show on this particular occasion, it was her golf game. Caroline Wozniacki hit an impressive 30-foot putt when Mcllroy let her hit for him on the final green of the Par 3 Contest. The shot was impressive, to say the least.
This was a proud moment for Wozniacki and one she would certainly want fans to remember. However, the caddie outfit wasn't particularly flattering. If you would like to see Wozniacki in more flattering attire take a look at 15 Hot Tennis Stars Who Know How To Rock Yoga Pants.
4 Doesn’t : 2012 Wimbledon Upset
2012 was a very difficult year for Caroline Wozniacki. That year Wozniacki was eliminated in the very first round at Wimbledon. She was defeated by Austrian tennis player Tamira Paszek. The loss to Paszek marked the first time Wozniacki had failed to advance past Round 1 in a Grand Slam Tournament since her debut back in 2007.
The 2012 season would only get worse for the tennis star as she would go on to suffer a knee injury at the New Haven Open at Yale in a match against Dominika Cibulkova, which forced her to withdraw from the tournament. After a disappointing season, Caroline Wozniacki dropped out of the top 10 in ranking for the first time since 2009. The image above shows her during her match a Wimbledon in 2012, a match and a season she would probably like to forget.
3 Does: The US Open Finals
Her two appearances in the US Open (in 2009 and 2014) are probably the most impressive accomplishments of Caroline Wozniacki's career. Coming in 2nd place at one of the most prestigious tennis tournaments in the world would be the highlight of most tennis player's careers, but doing it twice is truly an admirable accomplishment.
In 2oo9 she advanced to the finals before being defeated by Kim Clijsters, 7-5, 6-3. During her second appearance in the finals back in 2014, Wozniacki was defeated by her good buddy Serena Willimas 6-3, 6-3. While the 26-year-old Wozniacki is still chasing her first singles Grand Slam title, she can certainly be proud of her US Open finals appearances. This image captures the Danish star in all her glory after becoming the runner-up at the 2014 US Open.
2 Doesn’t: Evil Wozniacki
Not long after her well-publicized breakup with golfer Rory Mcllroy the image above surfaced on Caroline Wozniacki's twitter page. In fact, the photo was actually used as her Twitter avatar. It's quite possible that Wozniacki simply liked the image or thought it was a fun photo. However, having just split up with Mcllroy, some folk speculated that she was trying to put a hex on her ex.
After the image appeared McIlroy went from being in first place at the Memorial to ultimately coming in 15th overall. While this is most likely nothing more than a coincidence, it still makes for a fun story nonetheless. That being said, the tennis beauty probably doesn't want to be remembered as a witch who cast spells on her ex-boyfriends.
1 Does: Endorsement Ads
In today's world of professional sports being able to land endorsement deals can be almost as important as how you perform as an athlete. When it comes to being able to attract big named sponsors Caroline Wozniacki is no slouch. The 5-foot-10 blonde has been signed with companies like Adidas, Sony Ericsson, and watchmaker Rolex. Moreover, the tennis starlet even appeared in a television ad or Turkish Airlines.
Here success at gaining the attention of sponsors prompted SportsPro magazine to name her the 9th-most marketable athlete in the world in 2011. In fact, Wozniacki even had her own underwear line for a brief period. Wozniacki is likely justifiably proud of her ability to land major sponsorship deals.
