The wild, colorful world of Pro Wrestling is all about the drama. The more chaos and beef, the better. In the sport, the players take their smack talking into the ring for showdowns full of chokeholds, bodyslams, and bragging rights. To add the dramatic flair that characterizes the wrestling world, big hitting stars suddenly exit the ring for good, announcing their retirement. Fans mourn the loss of their favorite fighters, but they usually have a comeback to look forward to. Unlike most other sports, Pro Wrestlers typically find their way back into the spotlight somehow. Here are eight big names in wrestling who left the ring, but blessed us with a return or two, and two fellas who might be on their way out for good.

10 Bret Hart

Bret, "The Hitman" Hart, was the man back in the 1990's. I think my little brother had a pillow in the shape of both him and The Macho Man at some point. Hart exited the world of WWE in 1997 amidst controversy following his participation in "Montreal Screwjob." Hart and the WWE had some bad blood between them for some years until he suddenly made a comeback in 2010. He made amends with those he offended and had one more stint as the United States Champion before bowing out of the ring yet again.

9 Ric Flair

"The Nature Boy", Ric Flair, basically WAS wrestling back in the 1980s. He played dirty and cared not for anyone's obvious disdain. Ric did his own thing in the ring, feathery bathroom robe and all. After his seemingly permanent exit from the sport after numerous decades of rule, he made his way back in 2010 on TNA which many fans in the wrestling world considered a sour decision on the part of Flair. Comebacks don't always work out, as exemplified by "The Nature Boy" here.

8 Mick Foley

It was hard not to love Mick Foley as he is credited for putting an end to Monday Night Wars between WWE and WCW. (Also, who doesn't adore a furry, sweet-faced lumberjack?) Because of the injuries that Foley sustained in the ring, he was forced into retirement at the age of 35 back in the year 2ooo. Many were sad to see him go, but he remained a fixture in the wrestling world, often dabbling in independent promotions. Then four years after his initial retirement, Foley stepped back into the ring to settle a beef with Randy Orton.

7 Goldberg

Wrestler "Goldberg" was probably best known for being an absolute destructive tornado of an opponent in the ring. He took no mercy on those he faced off with and held nothing back. The guy was ruthless in his takedowns of wrestling legends and seemed on top of his game in the late '90s. After leaving the sport for a spell, he came back into relevancy in 2016 to take on his longtime rival, Brock Lesnar. After losing the Universal Title to Lesnar at Wrestlemania 33, he packed his bags and left the sport yet again. He was recently inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame during the weekend of Wrestlemania 34.

6 Batista

Batista was a big deal in the ring during the 2000's before leaving the sport in 2010. The eccentric, tough guy cited creative differences as his reason for parting ways with the wrestling world that he had given a decade of his life to and vowed never to return. Three years later though Batista decided to give wrestling another whirl and came back to win the infamous Royal Rumble. His win was not popular among wrestling fans and he ended up leaving again only months later.

5 Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan, (whose real name actually Bryan Danielson) held a whole lot of promise in the wrestling game until a series of premature injuries (including a major concussion in 2015) sent him into early retirement. Sadly, the beloved fighter had to say his farewell in 2016, but has since been cleared by various doctors and reportedly has plans to enter the ring soon. We smell a comeback as Bryan has been very adamant and vocal regarding his plans to emerge from retirement as soon as WWE docs clear him medically.

4 Hulk Hogan

If a gold medal could be given out to one premiere wrestler who didn't know when to call it quits, the Hulk would win that medal by a landslide. Hogan wrestled during what is considered by many to be the Golden Era of wrestling. For us children of the '80s, the guy was an icon. Hogan has left the sport multiple times only to return and then disappear again. Some guys just don't know when to hang up the spandex it seems.

3 Victoria

Finally! A lady wrestler who crawled on back into the ring after retiring. This tough chick got her start through wrestling lady legend Chyna and made her first televised appearance at Wrestlemania 2000. Four months later she established herself as The WWE Women's Champion, a title she clinched two times in her career. She left the WWE in 2009 and came back as Tara in the TNA organization. Her partnership with TNA fizzled after a year, but then...you guessed it! She was back.

2 Leaving The Ring Soon: Triple H

Might this be the year that Triple H bows out of the ring? The guy is 48 years old and has been at body slams and chokeholds for a quarter of a century. Really though, this guy has accomplished so much in the wrestling world; this might be a good time to leave. Who doesn't want to go out on top? Besides, he has widdled his ring time down to a part-time basis at this point, so retirement seems to be a logical transition for the big guy.

1 Leaving The Ring Soon: Mysterio

Another wrestler who seems surrounded by retirement buzz right now is Rey Mysterio. Mysterio has three World Champion titles under his belt and has already left the ring and re-emerged once. He came back just this last year but has suffered some defeats making many fans wonder if this is truly his time to walk away from the wrestling world and still be able to hold his mask-covered head up high.
